Introduction

Welcome to my Zed Guide! I am an EUNE Diamond Zed main and I'm having a really fun time maining Zed just because of everything he's capable of doing in lane and outside of it. Today I'll try to be explaining to you everything about Zed and what to do in every single one of his match-ups. I hope you enjoy this guide and I hope it helps you climb the ladder with Zed.

Runes

So for Runes on Zed I like to go with the Electrocute. Electrocute really helps Zed get that early burst on all of his combos. That's why he's one of those early game 1v2 potential assassins. Electrocute is basically a Thunderlord's proc but with more damage.
So next on Zed you should go with Sudden Impact. This rune gives you the ability to really abuse Zed's Living Shadow. Sudden Impact gives you a free lethality burst once you use your Living Shadow, which helps you alot when you do your basic trading in lane combos.
Then you need to go with Eyeball Collection. This rune gives you free Attack Damage which helps you alot with scaling faster and having a bigger impact on the late game. You just need to destroy wards and if you can get some early game kills you're gonna be huge for the entire game.
And last but not least you need to get the Ultimate Hunter. This rune really is game breaking to Zed. Not only that Zed's Death Mark is already one of the most powerful abilities in this game, but with Ultimate Hunter you can stack alot of CDR on it, so you can spam it more often. So that was it about the Domination Tree. Now onto Precision.
First you need to take Triumph. Obviously once you take someone down with Zed and you're low you hope you're gonna survive if someone used an Ignite on you or your life is depending on something so little just as a burn from the red smite. Plus this rune gives you a whole 12% of your HP back so it's kinda broken and for sure worth to get on Zed.
And at last you need the Coup de Grace. It's honestly a must get on Zed just because of the amount of burst it gives you on squishy targets just as Jhin or Jinx.

Skill Sequence

Above I have already shown how the skill sequence should go on Zed, but here I will explain why it should be like that. So first you've got Zed's Passive - Contempt for the Weak

Contempt for the Weak

Zed's basic attacks against targets below 50% Health deal 6-10% of the target's maximum Health as bonus Magic Damage. This effect can only occur once every 10 seconds on the same target.
So this is what makes Zed probably the best execute assassin in the game. His passive is simple - execute low health enemies. There really isn't needed too much of an explaining about it.

Razor Shuriken

Zed and his shadows throw their shurikens.

Each shuriken deals damage to every enemy hit.

Zed and his shadows throw their shurikens, each dealing 80/115/150/185/220 (+90% bonus Attack Damage) physical damage to the first enemy they pass through, and 48/69/90/110/132 (+54% bonus Attack Damage) physical damage to each additional enemy.
That's the main damage ability that Zed has. It has so much potential just because of the so many ways it can be used. It's used for poking in lane, it's used to execute enemies, it's the main part of the all - in damage of Zed's Death Mark. The only thing you really need to do is to hit it. It's very good to have 3 Razor Shuriken's when you go in. What I mean by that is in the moment you Death Mark someone, you can just throw your Living Shadow in and you're gonna have 2 shadows throwing Razor Shuriken + Zed's Razor Shuriken. It's overall a very good ability with high damage and AD scaling.

Living Shadow

Passive: Zed gains energy whenever he and his shadows strike an enemy with the same ability. Energy can only be gained once per cast ability.

Active: Zed's shadow dashes forward, remaining in place for a few seconds. Reactivating Living Shadow will cause Zed to switch positions with this shadow.

Passive: Zed gains 30/35/40/45/50 energy whenever he and his shadows strike an enemy with the same ability. Energy can only be gained once per cast ability.
Active: Zed's shadow dashes forward, remaining in place for 5 seconds. Reactivating Living Shadow will cause Zed to switch positions with this shadow.
That's like the main ability that makes Zed what he is. It just gives you so much mobility, roaming potential and outplay potential, it's just insane. The uses of his Living Shadow are alot, but the most common ones are two, use it to go in and burst someone with a quick combo, or use it to run away from a tricky situation. Living Shadow is also the main damage provider that Zed had, since it allows you to pretty much multiply your abilities. It comes with it's flaws though, you need alot of pracitce and skill to follow your shadows and make big flashy plays, but once you learn the tricks you'll melt the laning phase.

Shadow Slash

Zed and his shadows slash, dealing damage to nearby enemies.

Zed and his shadows slash, dealing 70/95/120/145/170 (+80% bonus Attack Damage) physical damage to nearby enemies. Each enemy champion hit by Zed's slash reduces Living Shadow's cooldown by 2 seconds.Enemies hit by a Shadow's slash are slowed by 20/25/30/35/40% for 1.5 seconds. Enemies hit by multiple slashes take no additional damage but are slowed by 30/37.5/45/52.5/60% instead.
This ability comes in great use when you're either chasing someone or being chased by someone. When you use Shadow Slash with your Living Shadow it slows the enemies, which really helps when for example you're getting ganked or chasing down the enemy ADC.
Or though there's nothing too flashy about this ability, after all it's just a slash.

Death Mark

Zed becomes untargetable and dashes to an enemy champion, marking them. After 3 seconds the mark triggers, repeating a portion of all the damage Zed dealt to the target while they were marked.

Zed becomes untargetable and dashes to an enemy champion, marking them. After 3 seconds, the mark triggers, dealing physical damage equal to 100% Attack Damage + 25/40/55% of all damage dealt to the target by Zed while the mark was active. The dash leaves a shadow behind for 6 seconds. Reactivating Death Mark causes Zed to switch positions with this shadow.
Reaper of Shadows: Zed reaps the shadow of the strongest foe slain under Death Mark, gaining 0 attack damage. ([object Object] + 5/10/15% of the victim's attack damage.)
Aaaand we finally reached the gamebreaking ability, the Death Mark.
This is what makes Zed the champion he is, this is what makes him different from basically every other champion. The ability to untargetable go and in the next second 100-0 someone is insane. Of course it comes with the skill needed to control the shadows perfectly, but if you know what you're doing, this ability is just insane. It has so much playmaking potential once it's used that it can change the entire course of a teamfight.

Scaling and Teamfighting

Zed needs to find picks. As the late game comes closer he becomes more and more useless due to the armor stacking of tanks and the scaling damage of marksmen. Or thought with Zed you never know what you could do in a teamfight IF you get a good pick. In teamfights you NEED to wait for either team to engage. Once you see their ADC or Mage is left alone, it's your chance to shine. You need to dash out every single thing on your kit on their squishies. That's most likely gonna be enough to win the fight for you team. Zed is a good splitpusher too since his Death Mark allows him to 1v1 pretty well on side lanes, but sometimes split pushing does not work and you need to teamfight, as every assassin Zed pops off in teamfights if played well.
