I wasn't all that confident going into this game with a Ashe support that is actually a Draven main with no games of Ashe played so I almost dodged, but I figured with Malphite in conjunction with Yasuo we had a chance.

And of course to start the game off, Malphite didn't bother staking out my Red buff, so I don't believe I ever actually got one the entire game as by the time we had enough control over our jungle for me to get them it was time to hand them off to an ADC. Not having Red cost me at least one kill in a gank. That delayed my Bami's Cinder so my clears were slower than I would have liked.

As I guessed in champion select our team fight was actually pretty good and once we finally decided to group we were able to roll them up since Udyr was mostly trying to splitpush and hence leaving them open to a 4v5 vs hard engage.

This game was much harder than it needed to be. Kept having Yasuo and Nasus split from the team and we needed their CC to deal with Katarina. Not that she was silly fed, but just that she would kill off Vayne. Their crew of beef cakes also did a pretty good job keeping me from Corki, but part of that is just where we were choosing to fight.

My ults were not on point for this game. I think I felt a little frustration at my inability to take out their priority targets. Kat would hop in and I would think I could kill her and then she would just jump out.

Did use my ult a couple of times to get myself over a wall.

This one was easier than the last. Yorick and I teamed up to put the hurt on Gangplank in the early game. GP didn't really play much league after that. Yorick took all their lane turrets, then waltzed into their base and took their base turret, inhibitor, and a Nexus turret before they were able to bring him down. That made the rest of the map fairly easy to play. Made a few plays in Bot lane and helped chunk out Kassadin a couple of times which freed up LeBlanc to roam a bit. Had good dragon control due to lanes being ahead for the most part.

Not sure why I seem to be ending up in games with players who were plat last season. Maybe they have dropped?

It is a good thing Bot was dumpstering their lane, because our Udyr was getting stomped by Tryndamere. Not idea why the Udyr went with a scaling Tear of the Goddess build when getting tower dove over and over. I'd have gotten Tiamat to match Tryns wave clear and then armored up. I guess at least he bought Ninja Tabi? Mid also did well for themselves despite a couple of close scrapes.

Mid had no pressure, so Kassadin got to roam freely with not even damage done to his tower. Their team roamed and rotated better than ours despite Top and Bot basically winning their lanes, but Kassadin evened that out. Didn't have any success with early ganks. Got way out leveled and was lacking in items due to losing control of our jungle. Orianna actually had some good ults, but not enough damage followed them up so they kept getting away by the skin of their teeth.

In a do over, I should probably have done a level four clear since none of the lanes looked that great as far as gankability as far as the early game. Mid maybe, but Orianna has no hard CC.

Not sure what I could have done about having them in my jungle. That would have required more help from my team.

Bot lane got ****ped on. No one could deal with the Kalista, despite me getting onto her multiple times in a fight. The End.

Current champion pool as of 16-Jan-2018

Role Champion
Jungle
Top
Autofill Support

Shyvana - Bruiser/Juggernaut - She is strong right now and I historically have good win rates with her. My alternative here was Warwick, but I seem to try to do too much with him, whereas with Shyvana I know I pretty much have to wait until level 6 to come online so I'm less likely to force things.

Evelynn - Assassin/AP - Also strong in the current meta. I generally don't get as far ahead on her in ranked as I do in normal games, but she is silly strong at the moment and tilt inducing for any squishy targets on the enemy team, which is a good feature for soloqueue.

Rammus - Tank - with jungle Maokai's winrate currently dropping hard that suggested a look at the current tank junglers that are doing well in the current META. For some reason I don't get along with Sejuani which leaves Rammus as the stand-out in the tank category. His early ganks are good and he has a beastly Mid game. Another thought might be Jarvan IV since he can go either bruiser or tank plus he has good initation for team fights, but for some reason I seem to struggle in winning games with him.

Nasus - Juggernaut - really strong right now with the Kleptomancy build. For the most part I find that as long as my team doesn't lose hard I can help carry the game once I ramp up on Nasus.

I've also put in quite a few reps on Kled, Ryze, Urgot, and Malphite in the off-season. I don't think my Ryze is ready for primetime, but if we need an AP threat in Top I could think about pulling him out.

Alistar - Tank - Good engage and durability once he gets his ultimate and his combo ( Headbutt + Pulverize) is silly easy to land with the changes Riot made a while ago.

And autofilled for my first ranked match of the 2018 season. XD

And already deviating from my champion pool.

And buying Ardent Censer while playing with a Jhin who I was duoing with. I ended up using it more on Yasuo who kept diving in and getting chunked, albeit while causing a lot of havoc.

I believe Zeke's Convergence might have been the better choice with Jhin as our ADC.

Assuming I continue to play Janna I need to get better at poking with her. In lane I mostly shielded Jhin and worked at dodging anything flying at me from Brand.

I used my Ignite prematurely when Vayne and Brand attempted to all-in our Jhin. Jhin got out alive though severely chunked. Vayne simply healed up off of minions. Jhin had to suck down all his pots and clear a few more minions to hit an item break point and back. I chilled in lane and just stayed close enough to the minions to pick up XP. That encouraged Brand to take some pot shots at me, which I mostly dodged successfully. I was hoping that would burn enough of his mana for us to do something when Jhin got back, but it he was doing it infrequently enough that it really didn't dent his mana.

One of my death's was definitely dumb. I move up to slow Darius who was shielding the rest of his team from our Jhin's ultiamte. He wouldn't have died regardless and I got too close to Darius and he Qd and ulted me for a kill.

I also almost got myself killed clearing a ward that I knew was in somewhat dangerous territory. I had to blow my ultimate to get out of that putting it on cool down.

I made a mistake doing a level 4 clear. That cost me my Raptors and my Red. I got his Gromp in return, but that still meant I was behind a bit.

Veigar got **** stomped by Aurelion Sol who was then able to roam freely with no contest. Veigar eventually started pinging his absence but Bot lane didn't pay attention at least one of the times they could easily have walked out.

I would have had to have had something like Jarvan IV or Rammus to camp Mid, but they way the Veigar played I don't know if it would have helped.

I think my take away is pick a good ganker and camp Mid lane so ASol can't roam and hope the rest of the map can manage by themselves.
