I just wanted to put this thread here for more experienced junglers to give their opinion to me about this. (see title)

I started making my own masteries for each jungler based on the positives I saw in each tree, and decided that the utility tree was great for pretty much all junglers.

I generally run movement speed quints when jungling as I am highly oriented towards ganking, so Fleet of Foot had synergy with my runes. Summoner's Insight gave more Flashes and Smites, and Runic Affinity boosts the red and blue buff duration by 30 seconds, which is HUGE. I saw all of these as pretty great traits for junglers, so I decided to run at least 9 points in the utility tree for all of my junglers.

The problem here is with champions, particularly tanks who usually run 21 points in the defensive tree. I don't really see besides with Tenacious how this tree would benefit tank or tank/AD hybrid junglers such as Vi or Shyvana over Wanderer and Intelligence , especially Wanderer because when combined with ms quints and Fleet of Foot gives +11% bonus ms out of combat and 6 in combat.

Also Legendary Guardian seems quite underwhelming compared to the other two 21th point masteries.

What are your opinions on this?

EDIT: I also really like getting 4 or 9 points in offense (love Sorcery), so most of my junglers are actually 9-0-21, 21-0-9 or 4-5-21.

you could run 0/21/9 for certain junglers like Udyr. The utility tree isn't really a choice for Juglers anymore. Most power junglers run 21/9/0 thanks to the Spirit Stone changes. With the item restoring health and mana based on damage output, it makes the high damage Junglers work better, and clear faster which is more important in the current meta.

If you're completely in love with the utility tree it's not a terrible thing to run 0/9/21, especially on the junglers that are more suited to it (udyr and hecarim go well with utility I believe), but as Kazega said, most people don't run utility in the jungle anymore. You get a lot of resistances out of the defensive tree and a lot of damage for ganking and clearing out of offense, so people usually opt to put 21 in either of those and 9 in the other.

Take a look at what you're missing when you put less than 9 points in defense:
5 armor
36 + 3% max health
20 armor and 10 MR in team fights
1% of missing health per 5 (actually quite strong even after the nerf)
2 MR or 10% reduced crit damage (that's just about 10% reduced damage from late game adcs, really good)
15% tenacity which stacks multiplicatively with Spirit of the Ancient Golem or Mercury's Treads

That's a lot of really strong defensive stats. Compare that with what you get out of the utility tree and you basically just end up with the jungler running defense being way stronger in dives, duels and team fights while the jungler running utility doesn't benefit much from it except in very specific circumstances ( Flash comes up just in time or something)
Thanks to The_Nameless_Bard for the sig!
