Swain basically counters all the short-range characters in the game so i'd say he's pretty darn decent to start with.
You're gonna cry a little against zyra, syndra, cassiopeia and the likes of it.

Irelia "deals" with both jax, riven, renekton and elise to some extent.
Udyr ****s the living **** out of her though.

Tri-force is rather op, randuin's is OP as **** too, ravenous hydra is also op as ****.

Hitting the 40% CDR mark is also very strong on most champions that want to build 1 CDR item.

Irelia deals with all the FOTM top lane picks

Swain deals with all the FOTM mid lane picks

Spirit visage, tri-force, SotAG, Randuin's, Ravenous hydra are all op as ****.

Magic pen blue's and quints are OP as **** on no-pushy pushy champions

I like to run 1 health regen quint on katarina if you're planning to play her since she can't really trade early and you just want to survive(which along with my either 4 or 5 pot start will suffice till i get 6 and get kill-potential)

^ Not sure why 2 posts were necessary here? :|

Also, I wouldn't ever advise anyone to pick Irelia into Jax or Renekton. Not because she can't win, but they both have the advantage against her.

Rune/mastery build for Swain?
9/21/0 or 21/0/9?
Armor or MP5 Seals?
MR or ... Glyphs?
AP or MS Quints?

Yop, I guessed most of those.
Is Hydra OP on ranged tho? Doesn't seem like it.

MrP Quints got buffed and are now great for damage against enemy champions. It now beats out AP at about lvl9 and up.
AP still beats out MrP earlygame though.
And I'm pretty damn sure both the AP and MrP Glyps still are kinda meh. MR Glyphs still rock in mid.

Not SV quints? Or are HP5 quints just that much better for early reg? (have you tried both?)

The passive/active are disabled on ranged champions, so no, Ravenous Hydra is not OP on ranged :P

I think it probably depends on what you're up against, but as a general statement I'd probably use:
21-9-0 or 21-0-9, armor seals (because even if you're not against an AD mid, the minion aggro and auto-attack harass can make your health drop pretty fast), the appropriate MR glyphs (depending on the enemy team comp and who you're likely to lane against), and MS quints (this is personal preference, I like to have the extra mobility on my mid laners...flat AP is ok too).

Irealia beats renekton hands down beyond level 7, and before that nothing really beats renekton anyways

Irelia and jax is an equal matchup tbh. Irelia has the sustain going for her though which is why i'd say that the matchup is equal/favorable to irelia. Simply due to the massive shutdown jax gets from irelia's E. Since she can either just stun him as he jumps her W-AA-AA and jump away or if he's a full ****** and jumps onto her with stun she can just stun, walk out and W-Q back in.
Basically Irelia's use of W and Q as well as jax's use of counterstrike settles whoever wins.

Here's some new-ish ADC stuff I guess.

- Jinx is broken
- Trinity Force is broken
- Corki was broken but just got nerfed very hard
- Caitlyn is still borderline broken
-Lifesteal quints are god
- Quinn and Lucian aren't really worth bothering with
-Not sure if you left before Twitch was reworked, he's now pretty strong, he's a hypercarry who can also somewhat lane bully
- Blade of the Ruined King is a replacement for BT that counters health stacking and has a strong dueling active
- Statikk Shiv is a replacement for PD that's more midgame oriented and gives waveclear
-All the other new items suck on ADC

I use AD marks, armour seals, MR glyphs, one AD quint and two lifesteal quints. You might also want to experiment with using a couple mreg glyphs for certain champions. I like 21/6/3 masteries on most champions but you can pretty much put the 9 points in either defence or utility depending on preference.

You build Infinity Edge or Bloodthirster > Phantom Dancer or Statikk Shiv > Last Whisper > Infinity Edge or Bloodthirster or Blade of the Ruined King > defensive item, depending on your champion and preference.

Certain champions like Vayne or Tristana or Twitch might rush BotRK if they intend to duel a lot because the active is very good at it. Ezreal and Corki still rush Trinity Force.

Never knew Polse was pro-Swain \0/

Swain needs Runic Affinity regardless of what you're going for. 21/0/9 works well against the easy/even matchups, I have another mastery setting for some harder matchups (can't really recall, but it's divided through the three trees so that I get Runic Affinity , the MPen mastery from the Offense Tree and Defensive Tree stats)

Hybrid pen marks work really well on him but those are sort of an extra perk
