the #1 reason why mobafire guide suck for any...

Doing item paths, visually with branches and such, is likely to be way too much effort for the reward. We might be able to do something simpler though, where you can indicate that you should get X item OR Y item. Right now it's just "item >> item >> item >> item" but then it could be "item >> item or item >> item". Will give it some thought.
The way i thought of the current item system is:
Cheat sheet=core items, rest of the items are in the "items section" of the guide.

^People tend to downvote guides with only 2-3 items. I get PMs all the time asking what the end build should be. So it's either provide a full build that may not be optimal every game (and get downvotes for that, but upvotes for 6 items) or provide a build with only "core" items (and get downvotes for that, and less upvotes, for lack of items).
That is why I've always wanted multiple build order choices. It'd throw the stat box out of whack, but that hasn't ever really been right in the first place.

^ If you are going to do core, why not just add another build to stop the PMs? Like what tehAsian did with his Shyvana guide :3

It's kinda annoying having to fill out an entire build again just to change the items.
For items, you could organize them as sections with smaller icons without any item paths? "Starting items, core items, optional/situational items."

hi embracing. yes i play ff14 now.
Multiple item builds is the #1 feature that was want in so you don't have to worry about that :) The rest are all just very, very delicious icing.
@astrolia, drag and drop item organizing is on the wish list :) And to your second question, yes. For examples of this check out DOTAFire.

I have a small question on that matter.
In order to do a builder redo you will have to probably rebuild it as a whole. How this action will influence the "old" guides.
And thinking that path, this could do pretty nifty cleanup on number of guides :)
I miss the simplicity of the site a bit now :)

Yes, that's why it has been put off for so long. We need to rewrite the whole thing, including the mass of browser code required to run it :) That's why I want to get everyone's ideas noted before we start!
What do you feel is missing in terms of simplicity? Like what specifically do you feel is overcomplex :)

Instead of introducing item paths I think you should just allow us to make several builds and give the members the option to choose the appropriate one. Basically there would be tags on the side of the item build we could activate/deactivate like "vs 3+ AD" or "vs Morgana". These tags would simply change the build.
In order for the guide author to customize this he would be able to choose the core item build like we do now and write as many tags as he needs. Then he would active a tag and change the core item build to suit the tag. You would also be able to activate more than one tag at the same time, which would also show a different build designed by the user. On the other hand some tags wouldn't be compatible, like "vs 3+ AD" and "vs 3+ AP", so unless the author deliberately makes a build for a certain tag combination that choice would just grey out (when you choose "vs 3+ AD" you could also pick "vs Morgana" but "vs 3+ AP" would be greyed out).
