Discover New Runes

Runes Reforged is a project combining runes and masteries into a one system which you'll be able to edit in champion select. All 60 of the new runes are FREE and more powerful than the old runes and masteries. Let's check out the most powerful runes: Keystones.

Precision
The Precision tree focuses on improving your sustained damage and empowering your attacks. This tree will likely be a staple for Marksmen and other auto-attack focused champions.
Press the Attack - Attacking the same champion grants endlessly stacking attack damage.
Lethal Tempo - 1.5 seconds after damaging a champion gain a large amount of attack speed. Lethal Tempo allows you to temporarily exceed the attack speed limit.
Fleet Footwork - Attacking and moving builds energy stacks. At 100 stacks, your next attack heals you and grants increased movement speed.

Domination
Domination enhances your burst damage and target access, making it easy to quickly kill priority targets. This tree is great for assassins, divers and burst mages.
Electrocute - Hitting a champion with 3 unique attacks or abilities in 2 seconds deals bonus magic damage.
Predator - Add an active effect to your boots that grants a large boost of movement speed and causes your next attack or spell to deal bonus damage.
Dark Harvest - Champions, large minions, and large monsters drop soul essence on death. Touch souls to absorb them and deal bonus damage on your next attack based on total soul essence collected.

Sorcery
Sorcery empowers your abilities and has options for resource manipulation. Expect mages and caster supports to make use of these runes.
Summon Aerie - Your attacks and abilities send Aerie to a target, damaging enemies or shielding allies.
Arcane Comet - Hitting a champion with a spell hurls a damaging comet at them.
Phase Rush - Hitting an enemy champion with 3 unique attacks or abilities grants a burst of Movement Speed.

Resolve
Resolve offers durability and crowd control for you and your teammates. Tanks, fighters and tanky supports will make great use of this tree.
Grasp of the Undying - Every 4 seconds your next attack on a champion deals bonus damage, heals you, and permanently increases your health.
Guardian - Right-clicking on an allied champion grants you both a shield.
Aftershock - After immobilizing an enemy champion gain defenses and later deal a burst of damage around you.

Inspiration
Inspiration lets you bend some of the rules of the game and gives utility options. Get creative and experiment with this tree, as there are potential runes for any champion class! There are only previews for two keystones in this tree at the moment, but a third keystone will be coming soon!
Glacial Augment - Your first attack against an enemy champion slows them (per unit cooldown). Slowing champions with active items shoots a freeze ray at them, creating a lingering slow zone.
Summoner Specialist - Get Summoner Shards and exchange them at the shop to change your Summoner Spells.
Coming Soon!

Create Your Playstyle

While you're waiting for preseason to arrive, click the image below to reach Riot's rune builder and theorycraft some new builds. To get started, just pick a primary and secondary path, then choose your runes!

Level Beyond 30
We're removing the level 30 cap, and the new cap is… infinity! We're also replacing the IP grind with a revamped rewards system that levels up with you. Instead of getting IP after every game, you'll receive an unlocked chest each time you level up. Capsules contain champ shards and blue essence, and if you hit special milestone levels, you'll earn special rewards like gemstones or rare emotes.

To tie all these changes together, we're connecting the leveling and loot systems by merging IP and blue essence. The newer, bluer essence will work in all the places IP and BE worked before, including loot and the champion store. And everything in the store will cost the same as it did in the old, IP-based system—for example, it'll be 6300 BE for a newer champ like Kayn.

Veteran Rewards

You've put in serious hours on the Rift. Show off your veteran status with an exclusive emote. The more you've played, the better your emote will be.

Defender of the League

Champion of the League

Conqueror of the League

With runes soon becoming free, we want to show our appreciation for those of you who've spent the most on runes over the years. So, for every rune or rune page you bought before the 2017 season began, we'll give you a little blue gift. Runes purchased during the 2017 season will be fully refunded.

Tier 3 marks, seals, glyphs 100 blue essence each Tier 3 quintessences 300 blue essence each
Rune pages purchased with IP 1500 blue essence each Rune pages purchased with RP 1 epic skin per 4 pages

Enter the Essence Emporium

The transition will leave some of you with more blue essence than you know what to do with, so we've got something extra planned. At the start of Preseason, after converting your IP into blue essence, we'll open up a limited-time blue essence store. You’ll be able to purchase things like ward skins, chromas, and (especially for veterans) a few super-rare items like the URFWick skin.

The preseason 8 update will go live on November 8th, so mark your calendars! What do you think of the new runes and the changes to leveling? Do you have any rune setups in mind for your favorite champions? Leave us a comment and share your thoughts below!

Honestly, some of the new runes are going to be really overpowered. For example, a primary rune (Inspiration 2nd tree) that is insanely strong is the new hexflash. It is literally a 2nd flash, btw with a short charge up, similar to ezreal's e, arcane shift.

If it is different, then it cannot literally be something it isn't. I don't know how long is the wind-up, but I am fairly certain it takes longer than 1 second, which is waaay too long to be nearly as useful as Flash.

The Runes MIGHT seem overpowered, but don't forget Masteries are going out the window. They are merging both systems. 99% of the champion pool is going to be tweaked accordingly. Base HP here, Mana Regeneration there...

Except the new Grasp of the Undying, because f*ck that permanent health every 4 seconds.

The channel time was 2.5 seconds when they last teased it. It actually seemed more like Vi's Vault Breaker given the channel time and slowed movement.

I mean... at 2.5 seconds, I can not see any major uses for it besides the occasional cheese when enemies lack vision.

I don't know, I think a few champions like Kennen might make good use of it. Crowstorm also requires some channeling time so it's not like people have never been able to blink in from fog before. It'll probably be pretty useless on a lot of champions though.
