@ latest legend The Drunken Amumu is an awesome bar name xD But I hope this thread won't be the bearer of too much bad news, though all news is welcome. We don't really have scouts here in Australia. We grow up with American TV though, so I know all about girl scout cookies and scout badges and camps, and I used to read Goosebumps which had a lot of scout-esque stories. But I imagine what I know isn't close to what it's really like to be part of a team. Camping in Norway sounds thrilling - surely there are some places where camping is legal? Or is wild camping different to regular camping?
There are paid campsites (with sanitary services etc.) in the Netherlands and surrounding countries, but in Norway it's legal set up camp wherever, figuratively speaking (in a forest, in mountain areas, even private areas under some law). So that gives a lot of freedom. And probably a lot of hassles we've never thought about before, so it's bound to be an adventure.

As for the garage sailing, I found a pair of gold earrings for $3! Pretty stoked. I also bought some random fabric to give a go to upholstering some chairs we've had since forever - they're literally falling apart at the seams. No experience at all with recovering chairs, but how hard can it be? xD

To the frequenters of the Drunken Amumu, a quick update. It's actually Patch's birthday today (27!), so we'll be going out for dinner to celebrate. He's got his eye locked on burgers from Grill'd, so that'll be nice. My birthday is in October, and I'm thinking Indian! What's your favourite dine-in food?
@ Ekki: congratulations! What will you be working on?

@ Latest Legend I'm currently creating databases of mutations in a bunch of selected genes. The idea is using those databases to find correlations to diseases in order to help in medical diagnosis. My thesis was one of those databases for one of the genes and finding associations to congenital heart disease.
Did I miss on too much stuff since last year?

@ Ekki Congratulations on the completion of your degree and the grant you won for a PhD, wow, going places! Such a great idea making a database of mutations - surprised this hasn't been done before, so definitely a worthwhile idea, really! Quicker access by eliminating variables, sounds fuuuun! As for stuff you've missed out on via MobaFire, I guess the biggest things are the raffle tickets for participating in the site and the visual upgrades to areas of the site. New vets too :)
@ wRAthoFVuLK Miss you, buddy <3
@ Latest Legend Yeah... I truly know nothing about scouts xD
Today we're going shopping for the week. We need to drive 20 minutes to get the shopping centre we like to shop at (it's got a lot of extra stores and our local foodmarket is pricey due to servicing a rural town). I'm thinking a vegetable soup, something to grill on the BBQ, freshly fried fish fillets (ha!) for tonight... Typically we buy ingredients for 3-4 meals and eat leftovers/pantry-it-up for the other days in the week. There are a few brand stores that are closing all across Australia due to major losses in revenue (talking millions per year), but two are brands I actually really enjoy (buy my boots and jeans there), so I guess I'll also be doing some sale shopping xD Plans for today?

I've been referred to a physician regarding starting on HRT. Minnesota generally uses an informed consent model, so it's unlikely I'll even have to wait all that long. I'm very excited.
I made lentil soup last night (rosemary, parsley, lentils, bacon, red onion, chickpeas, red beans) and we had sour dough bread laced with sesame seeds. Sooo good and filling and healthy (when you don't have massive amounts of bread slathered with butter tho). Will have leftovers today for lunch :D Probably made waaay too much, so will be eating it over the weekend. What are your plans for dinner tonight?
Eugh... only a few more days to go before school resumes. Got a few new classes to prep and plan still. I was granted funds to buy laptops for my classroom, so I've been slowly moving everything digital, which takes a long time when I first had to make everything to be paper based. I'm supposed to be doing more porting right now, but I just can't bring myself to do it... It'd be the third year in a row that I've completely revamped my teaching resources, despite teaching the same classes. I've known teachers who use the same resources year in and year out, and I don't want to be like them, but at the same time I envy the amount of free time they have, not prepping for classes =.= It's like a work smarter, not harder model, so I guess once these are fully swapped over to be used digitally by the students, I'd just be able to tweak for the future and maybe next year I'll have all the free time in the world <3
@ The_Nameless_Bard Congratulations! It's lovely to hear that you're moving towards what you want in life and that you won't have to wait much longer to start that process :)

I guess people sometimes talk to themselves in bars, right? Just now I ordered clothes for the first time online. Never done that before... I'm a "try on" before I buy sort of gal, but I have these sets of jeans already and the boots in a different colour, so I'm hoping the sizes have remained the same, even after half a year (you never know with these things). It was also close to $100 for 3 pairs of jeans, a pair of boots and a nice wedge peep-toe shoe, so excited for when it comes, but also will be annoyed if it all doesn't meet expectations. Eeep!
if it makes you feel any better, I recently ordered a t-shirt and a skirt and both ended up fitting me like a glove. I wouldn't personally buy footwear online though, but that's because I've always had problems shoe-shopping and I can't really "identify" with one shoe size. A 39 isn't the same size in every brand in my experience; so hopefully your boots are good, though I wouldn't worry about other types of clothing!
Also I kinda got rickrolled by a book I was reading. There was a really complicated quadrosome (like threesome but 4) .. if that's a word, going on that was supposed to resolved in the final chapter.

What a cop out book ending LOL
I said I'd buy all Pool Party Fiora chromas if we won the game (I don't play Fiora) and for some reason I actually got fed mid game and we won. Completely out of BE and now own Project and Pool Party with all chromas (minus one because I don't have the BE yet), and I never play the champ ^^;
