Disclaimer: I don't play Garen.
Youmuu's Ghostblade is gonna give you the most damage against squishies plus some movespeed to keep up with them.
Black Cleaver is always a solid option for damage, especially against tankier people.
Maw of Malmortius is probably good against AP? No movespeed though. Maybe you just go ghostblade or cleaver into
Spirit Visage or
Adaptive Helm instead.
RistiumMask is a low diamond
Garen main so maybe stalk him for ideas.

Thanks to The_Nameless_Bard for the sig!
It depends on what you are VS in lane, and what the enemy team comp is. The new Dorans shield is super strong, so i'd probably get that as starting item, Black cleaver is usually a solid item to build first vs almost anything, espically with how garens E interacts with it.
You will normally be building Ninja tabi or boots of swiftness as garen really benefits from movement speed, and ninja tabis are just broken Vs auto attackers.
After that it depends on the enemy comp. Spirit Visage or Sunfire cape 2nd is pretty good with Garen, as he benefits well with both items.
After that its completely situational.
i'd expect a full build garen to look something like this:
Ninja Tabi, Black cleaver, Spirit visage, Deadmans plate, Sterak's Gage, Adaptive helm
If you want some more damage, Steraks gage would be a great item to buy on garen, espically with the changes it just got which make it better with people building HP items.
To touch on the "should i go full damage" comment. You are a tanky bruiser champion and shouldnt change that just because you are ahead. Your job is to abuse the backline as best you can in a fight, so building too much damage and not enough tankiness will be counter productive.

Thanks for the responses everyone! I'll be stalking that diamond player.
I noticed he builds
Youmuu's Ghostblade as a first item almost every game, so I've tried that a few times and it's sort of fun.

********'s a pretty good fertilizer
Just played against a
Nasus, knew I could destroy him so I rushed
Avarice Blade
Executioner's Calling into
Youmuu's Ghostblade into
Sterak's Gage. Definitely destroyed him a lot harder than I would've had if I had gone for my usual defensive build.
EDIT: Other yellow sword thingy

If I have a hard lane, like a ranged opponent or if I just got cheesed by
But what should I get if I'm winning? I thought winning lane with a bruiser meant to still get a tanky item and just enjoy being unkillable, but I also hear people rushing full damage items like the ones I mentioned above.
Roast me harder, but I'm not that used to winning lane at top. I usually get a tank, suck it up early game and start doing stuff come mid-late. What do I buy if I know I can win / am winning?
TL;DR Do I go full ****** damage or full tank if I win early game, specifically with
