The only thing I think that might be slightly Elo hell is when you are in a situation where you are soo bad and the enemies are soo bad that you have a hard time learning what is a good or a bad decision because you are surrounded by bad. But even then you have guides, LCS games and stuff you could take a look at in order to get better.

Just keep in mind that each game consists of 9 noobs, if you can make sure you aren't a noob yourself you will always have the advantage, even in Elo hell #beewisdom
Change is gooooood

Keep in mind any good decision can lead to a bad decision, hell scratch that the key to lol is know whom you are facing etc, Have extremely good map awareness, place wards according to gank areas. Hell most people don't use the mini map & never ward which spells "DEFEATED".

The fact that you got gold on a different account literally proves there's no such thing as elo hell.

The fact is, if you're good enough, you will games, and you will climb. That's how this game works. It literally works like that. If that doesn't apply to you, then you're either not good enough, or not playing enough games.

I remember a friend who was/is stuck in elo-hell he has played at least 400 games in Bronze 1-5, and the the biggest problem I think for him was the fact that he started playing ranked once he hit level 30.

He had no complete rune pages when he started, he has them now but his MMR got tanked

He had a very poor champ pool to chose from, he has a decent pool now but again his MMR got tanked

He left a lot of games, MMR Tanked

He knows the game now, but again he Tanked his MMR from so many bad games/calls

He hates playing new champions in normal's and he would rather learn how to play them in Ranked....

I know this isn't the problem Rice Noodle Chan is having but it may explain some of his team mates

Now the reason why I'm not playing ranked right now.
I have been playing since season 1 and I hate playing ranked, I was in Sliver II last year after my placements so I only ended played about 13 ranked games anyway. However this season I will start up again once I have played at least 50-100 more games this season, right now I play at a High Silver low Gold in my opinion but why play ranked if I know that's where I'm going to end up, I would rather work on my CS, Objectives, Champ Pool, Warding, calling out timers and objectives in normal's for a while longer. Before playing my placements, if I can play better in my placements later why not play them later.

I also Main support and right now there are at least 3 more top pick supports that I need/should improve on before whipping them out in ranked.

OP, I hear your frustration. I've felt that frustration before back in Season 3. I started specializing in support, since a lot of players didn't want to play it back then, and watched videos to get good at warding and supporting as best I could. But since I found it difficult to carry from the support role, I started playing other roles but found myself frustrated because the supports I saw were so awful at warding. I can't tell you how many times I had to explain why a Sightstone was good ("It's like a 12 gold per 10 item!").

The way I managed to get out of the Bronze ELO Hell was to play tank junglers -- initially Nautilus and later Rammus. In Bronze, people don't tend to play tanks, because they want to be the star "I got the most kills!" guy. So, quite often if you play a tank, then your team has a tank and the other team is made of squishies, which gives your team a huge advantage. By playing jungle, you can influence all of the lanes and help lanes that are having trouble (or help snowball a lane doing well). Then, mid-to-late game, team fights are easy. You initiate as the tank and most Bronze enemies will stupidly focus you while your teammates blow them away. If an enemy does try to run past you to a squishy, then you can peel the enemy off your friendly champion. Since the enemy team likely isn't getting many peels, your team can trounce the enemy again and again -- and you can push down towers. The beauty of this is that it doesn't require any big team coordination. You just initiate and peel and let the bronzies on both sides do what they naturally do.

1) There are way more smurfs in bronze than in silver or gold. I have a 2nd account and I see people getting platinum level cs and ward placement in those games frequently.

2) I don't think people frequently throw games intentionally in Platinum or higher. Having people intentionally feed or afk because they are raging is not uncommon in silver league or lower. In bronze league you have to assume one of the people is going to afk. "Its only bronze league, who cares".

3) Carry yourself! I basically believe in this, but its based on the premise "I am platinum playing against bronzies... freelo!!" Instead of "I am probably a gold V playing against Silver 2's" So then my question is, if your only marginally better than your teammates --- can you really be expected to carry 4 of them to victory on your back? In reality when your just kind of above your teammates you need a good team and its not realistic to be expected to carry them all the time. Having Gold V CS and Ward placement is a lot different than Diamond 3 CS and ward placement skills.

4) I define ELO HELL as being stuck with the trolls/intentional feeders/intentional AFK'ers. They literally make the game hellish and ruin it for their teammates.

5) For people stuck in bronze --- Look at your
1- Your CS
2- # of wards placed per game
3- # of objectives taken
4- Your number of deaths versus your kills AND assists. If your going 0-10-4 <--- your the problem. (unless its like a 4v5 game and your actually trying)
I used to care about KDA, now I care about CS and Objectives.

Can confirm. I've attempted to troll several of my accounts to B5. In hindsight, i feel pretty bad about having done it, but it was a lot of fun getting to teach newer players the REAL way to play league in a serious environment where they may actually learn something.

Games are thrown all the time in plat. In fact, I think more games are thrown in plat than in bronze.

Remember that you are the only constant in your games. If you truly do play like a silver 5 player, and you are surrounded by bronze 4s, you'll get to silver eventually. You shouldn't expect to win every single game though. Looking at your games in aggregate, you will see a steady improvement in your ELO.... IF YOU TRULY PLAY LIKE A SILVER.

Actually, this plays to your advantage. Ragers / trolls / afkers don't discriminate. They're not out to get just you.
If you are never toxic, and you don't rage, and you don't afk, then there's a 5/9 Chance that a toxic person will end up on your opponents team, and there's a 4/9 chance they'll end up on your team.

I'll hijack this quote ;D
5) For people stuck in bronze --- Look at your
1- Your CS
2- % of time you take an objective after getting a kill.
3 - # times you get caught.
4 - # times you die to a gank.
5 - # times you die before the 20' mark
6 - # times you die after the 20' mark
7 - Post game screen, and think about how many mistakes you made that game. If you can't list more than 10 mistakes, you haven't though hard enough yet.
If I helped you out, be sure to throw me a +Rep!

I seriously recommend making lists of what you did right and what you did wrong after games. Look for patterns as you do this and work towards fixing things. Know where you should be vs. where you are and set reasonable goals for yourself to reach. This can be hard to do, but it helps a lot.

When I started playing League I bought XP boosts and leveled up to 30 as quickly as possible by playing bot games. I got relatively proficient at killing Intermediate bots. Then I played my first PvP. That did not go so well. Neither did the next one or the next one. Bots don't cut it for learning the game. Their AI is intentionally limited. I started a new account and got to level 30 the hard way, by playing almost exclusively PvP games. I got better by playing, watching streams, and reading up on how to play the game.

Three things you can do immediately to make you and your team better are:
  • Learn to ward
  • Learn to call ss/ping missing when your lane opponent is absent
  • Strongly encourage your team to take an objective after winning a team fight

Individually for immediate/quick improvement you can:
  • Play like a chicken if you don't have wards. E.g - assume every bush has every member of the enemy team not visible on the mini-map in it.
  • Re-read the tooltips of all your favorite champions even if you think you have them mastered
  • Watch streams/full game commentaries of people playing your favorite champions

It may take some time, but you will start to see some improvement if you are dedicated to getting better at the game.
