Hello and welcome to the MOBAFire Patch Summary - 5.12!

Today has been an exciting day, and no, not just because of the addition of Tahm Kench to the PBE. In addition to that, Riot has also blessed the live servers with patch 5.12, an update which contains a collection of champion buffs and nerfs, a new jungle enchantment, extra Pool Party skins and more!

In this post, we will be taking a look at all of those things and discuss their impact on the game. Let's get to it!

Let's look at the buffs and nerfs made to champions first, starting with the two biggest sets of changes this patch has to offer: Ekko and Ryze.

Lowering the damage on Ekko's Z-Drive Resonance and (ratio of) Timewinder should reduce his "easy" burst damage, while Chronobreak receiving a 100 mana cost also means he will have to take time to consider when to spam abilities if he plans on returning to the past in the near future.

As for Ryze, a change to his passive means it will now last for 2.5 to 5 seconds instead of 6 (depending on the rank of his Overload), which should give opponents more time to battle him before he reached his (historically) strong late game. Changes to the duration of Rune Prison (now 1 to 1.4 seconds depending on rank instead of 0.75 to 1.75) also mean he should have a harder time perma-rooting opponents once he does reach his strongest stage of the game.

This patch definitely does not only bring along nerfs, however. To name a few examples of changes made to the champions with a + in front of their name in the table above, Braum now has higher damage and a lower mana cost on his Winter's Bite, Galio's maximum Idol of Durand damage has been increased, Jax gains more armor and magic resistance when activating his ultimate and Lux now gets shielded immediately by Prismatic Barrier while Lucent Singularity can be re-cast in flight to detonate as soon as it arrives.


Item & Mastery Changes

In this patch, the Magus enchantment (which provided 80 AP and 20% cooldown reduction) has been replaced by a new enchantment called Runeglaive, which provides less AP (40) and cooldown reduction (10%), but does add 200 Mana to the mix as well as a unique passive. This passive works much like the one on Trinity Force, though instead of dealing 200% of a champion's AD as damage it converts the next basic attack into magic damage and deals 75% of that amount in an area around the target. It also restores 8% of a champion's missing mana, making it a perfect choice for junglers who regularly find themselves at low mana despite having the standard Jungler passive.

Moving on to masteries, the shift in the Utility tree in patch 5.10 has been followed up by some significant changes in the Defense tree. To name a few examples, Legendary Guardian is now in the final Tier and only requires 1 point (to grant +3 armor and magic resist for each nearby enemy champion), Tenacious has moved from the final Tier to where Oppression used to be and grants only 10% Tenacity instead of 15, and Oppression itself (which obviously had to move as well) has seen its damage reduction go down from to 3% to 2%. I could go on, but this really wouldn't be a summary if I did. Check out the full patch notes (link in the outro) for the full details.

One more thing worth highlighting is that the Runic Blessing mastery has been removed and replaced by a new mastery called "Adaptive Armor" (which has a pretty similar icon, as shown below). This new mastery grants a champion 4% of his bonus armor as magic resistance or 4% of his bonus magic resistance as armor depending on which of the two stats he has more of.

As a final sidenote, not all of these changes are live in the MOBAFire database yet - this will be updated as soon as possible.



Upcoming Skins

Though the community didn't manage to gather enough points during Team Up Week to unlock level 6 and receive a free Pool Party Dr. Mundo skin, fans of it will still be able to pick it up once this group of Pool Party skins goes live.

The Draven and Dr. Mundo skins will cost 975 RP, while the other three will be available for 1350 RP.

GP and MF are confirmed to be next. I'm predicting that there's going to be a Bilgewater event like the Shurima and Freljord events previously that reworks the two that is happening during the next patch cycle. Tahm Kench will likely be a part of it.

EDIT: Oh, well, it turns out it was announced 5 hours ago when I was sleeping... Heh...

Most likely not, because they confirmed that MF is only getting a VR and minor kit work. GP is full on rework.

I just hope that they will not remove the AP scaling in Make it Rain and Bullet Time. I have instant quadra kills beause of those.

One thing to add, the Spellblade Passive of the Runeglaive has a 1.5 seconds cd, just like Sheen and stuff. It's not written in the patch notes but it actually is in game.
