Ohhh, so they're way harder to get than I thought. So you don't even get "1 every 6 months you're prime", you only get them as an extra if you buy 6 months or more of prime in one go?

Right so, if you buy 6 months, you will get 1 off the bat and 1 every time your subscription renews. Same for the year of Prime but you'd get 3 off the bat and 3 every time your subscription renews.

So yeah, you aren't getting 1 / month with Prime. It isn't like Prime members hog all the Commendations, they're open to anyone and there's not a significant difference with the amount Prime members get vs people just wanting to give out commendations without Prime. :)

Ok then. My idea was basically give X number of commendations for free to the community (I proposed how to do it so my intention wasn't very clear) so that people "tasted" the system before buying it. You know, like "50 commendations, one to each of the top-50 rep accounts", or to 50 accounts with over 50 posts at random.

This part confused me. Do you mean the fact that anyone can just buy a commendation?

We'll look into it. :) Thanks for the suggestion!

Yes, I mean that anyone can buy a Commendation and that Prime members may get a few for free but, it's not like they're getting 1 a month or anything like that.

Not at the moment. :( Would definitely be willing to look into this if people are interested!

Well basically you're giving people the chance to super +rep/+scout something and no one can see what has been commended unless they stumble upon someone's profile page with a commend, or a guide with a symbol in the search/on the guide itself. It doesn't look like it's an obvious thing, and if you can't search for commends, I'd be even less inclined to commend anything.

Due to the restricted nature of commends as well, it seems highly unlikely that individual posts in forums would EVER deserve a commend. If I have 1 commend to use after I've bought prime, I would not waste it on a forum post. So it sort of makes those little gold banners just an eyesore/advertisements for prime which is supposed to not have ads.

I think the main thing is that commends and prime seem to be interchangable, but they are not. They are two different systems that just happen to have some sort of cross relationship as when you buy prime, you get a commend. Basically it seems eh to be able to buy 99 commends at an exorbitant price and then be able to spam your commends around MobaFire. At the same time, it seems silly to purchase a low package and only have 3 commends to use.

If regular users who have done something commendable in the past (like posted over x amount of times, have x amount of +rep, have been part of MobaFire for x amount of time, are at x elo, participated in x amount of inhouses etc) were given commends as rewards, I could see it being more useful/fair for the actual MobaFire user base than giving commends to people who just throw money at the screen.

^that is if commends end up being useful as searchable attributes, anyway. If commends are not searchable, they're just pretty pictures on a guide and not actually worth anything.

Thanks for the feedback jhoi! We'll certainly look into adding a way to search for commended content / make it easier to find.

We're actually working on adjusting the commend button on forums / comments as we speak.

While we did expect most commendations to go out to guides we wanted to leave it open as we've seen quite a few super helpful forum threads / comments. :)

Forgive me for being blunt, but I just don't feel like I'm really getting anything by purchasing prime? The added Stream exposure seems like the only real perk to this (assuming I was able to stream), and the other features are either things I can do with adblocker or vanity (and not entirely nice to look at, the avatar banners).

The commendation system seems nice but gating that through MFP seems... silly. I have to pay for the right to say that someone's guide or comment really helped me? The pricing also feels very steep, even for the lengthy periods of time. If you wanted a subscription thing, a single purchase offer for permanent membership might be better suited for these.... perks.

I think the idea is novel, but I felt I should express my thoughts on the actual details. Forgive me, I'm not trying to be rude.

All good Roguish Bard, thank you for giving us feedback even if it's not favorable.

I think there might be some confusion, you don't have to be a Prime member to give out Commendations. So it's not "gated" through MFP. You might already understand this but I just want to make sure!

I'd also be curious to know what kind've perks you'd like to see since you don't like the current ones! We definitely wanted to start with a baseline and hear what people are interested in before continuing. :)

It's more than just expressing support (after all, you can do that with an upvote, +Rep and/or comment on the guide). By commending a guide, you're supporting MOBAFire and you're giving the author a free month of Prime, and the badge allows other people to see your support of the content you're highlighting and of the site.

The reason you commend something is probably because you found it helpful, but commendations are more than just a simple thank-you to the author.

But let's get this straight, commendations have their own place in the mobafire "helpful points" hierarchy, right?

They're the lowest and most insignificant when it comes to guide and post quality, right?

And what's to stop, lets say, a friend just giving me 50 commendations on my guide for the sake of it even if he has no real credibility on the website? What would that do to my guide? Will it gain some sort of higher "rank" than the others that weren't monetarily supported?

Also, guide authors can hide comments on their own guides. Doesn't this take away from the whole "public" part of the guides? Criticism should be visible and for all to see. If an author can just cherry pick a constructive comment and hide it away, then it really stagnates improvement by a lot and might leave other, less experienced players with their eyes closed. (Unless I got this wrong and hiding comments just means hiding it for the author himself, in which case it's alright.)

Also, I'd like an elaborate response if possible. A lot of your guises responses recently have been mostly repeating what was already said, and it doesn't clear up quite a few concerns that have been stated. :<
