MOBAFire staff and developers are always looking for ways to improve the experience for all kinds of users. While we consider what work to prioritize for the future, we'd love some feedback from the community to help us choose a direction for the site.

Please post a wishlist of your TOP 3 most-wanted features or changes to the site. This can cover anything from the guide builder to the forums, from functionality to visuals.

I look forward to reading your lists!
Thanks to The_Nameless_Bard for the sig!

I'll break the ice, though I can only think of one two things off the top of my head.

  • I wish the whole role system were different.

In my opinion, Editors should be volunteers rather than be a rank granted based on rep. I think Scouts should be volunteers as well + be high rank (diamond+ if it's possible to find enough willing high elo players).

I think Vet is fine as it is, as just a vanity title more or less. But I think if that's all it's going to be, then it should be advertized as such. Vet seems to be really overrated on the site descriptions and stuff, saying it's a sign that the person has a high level of controbution (true by default), positive effect on the community (not always true) and communicates with us (the admins) often in the forums or directly (true? but no more than anyone else). It's also said that vets get special bonuses and perks (untrue), the ability to endorse guides (untrue, that's what scouts do and people who buy commendations do) and that we'd have early access to certain features (untrue, aside from the very occassional post saying that there will be updates, and asking for feedback before it happens - that's something I don't think should be exclusive for the vets though) http://www.mobafire.com/league-of-legends/wiki/mobafire/veteran

  • On a similar note, I don't think that rep is a good measure for who should get nominated for the Vet role either. I don't remember the last time someone achieved Vet, so obviously either nobody is worth getting veteran anymore, or the rep ceiling is too high or nobody gives out rep anymore. I think the last two are true, which is why automatic promotions aren't necessary. I think it'd be better to just manually promote people who are very active, and who contribute and are a positive influence on the community and bla bla. I understand automatic makes it less work, I guess, but that's only because literally no one is being promoted at all ever.

Rep in general is a bad system. I don't see why it's so discouraged to +rep people on this website. Sure it can be abused, but then what? You'd have more editors, scouts, vets? Isn't it better to just remove the requirement of rep for getting promotions, if you fear so many unwanted promotions? The way it is now, I'm sure almost nobody uses the rep system, or more often they want to and they can't. If you remove automatic promotions, then this wouldn't be a problem.

So the second wish is that the restrictions on rep were a lot more lenient like in the good old days, provided the roles are manually given out like I said above (to avoid *automatic* vet promotions, not vet promotions, as if ppl get a lot of rep they likely deserve vet anyway)

I got some wishes.

* Make the site coloring and layout more appealing. Websites like Proguides look way nicer. This is a less important thing tbh, but I think it would make the site more appealing overall. Make Featured Guides section on home page more clear as to what it is. I didn't know at first that it was the guides for current free to play champions being featured. To add on to this idea, I'd say also make a separate section where every month you feature very good, not necessarily famous, guides for any champion and never repeat the same ones. Also fix the Image button. It only works for guides, it doesn't let you put images in discussion posts and it took me googling for like 10 minutes to finally figure out how people were actually doing it which was different code entirely.

* Allow people to vote and comment on guides without accounts, but make it so if they lack an account they must comment to vote and their comment goes through a moderation process. I understand that regardless this creates more work for the moderators, but this would also allow guide makers to receive a lot more feedback. Most people don't want to make an account for whatever reason. I know that I myself used this site for months before even thinking of making an account and because of that wasn't commenting or voting on guides I liked. It was mostly out of laziness more than anything else.

* Create more incentive for making guides. No one really gets anything at the moment for spending hours making a guide for this site. Maybe coming up with some kind of reward system for making good guides would be fun. Like perhaps being able to unlock animated Profile Icons by earning points of some sort for Views on your guides. Or even give guide makers a small percent of the money made off the ads on their guide pages.

I guess it never crossed my mind before, but why is the Challenger and Master border green?? I feel like they could look way nicer, or at least represent the colours of the ranks like all the others do?
I can't take back the words I never said

Actually I think the code it generates is correct, but trying to preview or post the image seems to remove it from the message again for some reason. We'll look into that, thanks for the heads up! :)

What exactly would this moderation process look like? Keep in mind that our rules regarding guest comments/votes would be similar to our current rules regarding "troll votes" for users, so even if we forced a comment from a guest that still doesn't mean they couldn't downvote without giving a lengthy explanation as to why they did so. I imagine that might be quite frustrating for authors to deal with, so perhaps it'd be better to limit guest interaction to comments only if we were to consider this?

Thanks for the feedback so far guys, keep it coming!

1 - Instead of overhauling the colors (or along with the overhaul), you could add skins (color scheme options) while still maintaining the guide display with a fixed background color (the current black should be fine) so that guidewriters can be sure that they're guide is perceived in X way.

2 - Return new guides to the front page. I can't stress this enough and it's been requested a million times. As things are right now, you can re-dimension the "Featured guides" and "Popular Guides this week" in a way that "New Guides" also fits. Most scouts I know used to go to the new guides and comment + provide feedback, helping them grow. I know I have benifited GREATLY of this.

3 - This is a vanity, but you should allow people to choose if they want their soloQ or flexQ rank to define their border (or maybe you already do and I suck). I only play flex with lower friends and I'm not a fan of being stuck with this gold border, less so if I decide to go on a SoloQ spree to reach diamond..

ps: cyclicaly asking users what they think is a great strategy, it improves mod/user relationship and it is a great aid in getting the site going the right path.

I'd replace the matchup part with New Guides, put the matchup side by side with Q&A and would use the empty space between logo and search + player date for you have now (champions, +create, get prime, other Fire sites)

Other than that, it looks great IMO

My thought here is that perhaps create a new moderation system just for this where every guest comment + its vote has to be approved by a moderator before it is seen. That way you won't have guests spamming votes or comments without being able to keep up with it. Guests only being able to comment would be cool too, but we currently have an issue with people not voting enough. You'd also need a way to keep track of voting IPs though or some other method of knowing its not the same person voting over and over again. So again, just comments would be a step forward too.

In no order in particular:
- Better optimization of the site. I've noticed it's not only in my cellphone that the site is borderline unusable. I'm currently using it on a low spec computer and a few tabs literally crash Chrome.

- Make the site responsive. Or at least have a decent mobile version. It's really annoying to use the site on small screens.

I guess those two are my main concerns. My third wish would be that you eventually do those two :^)
