I like this idea. I've thought about it before.
The "protection" should last for 60-100votes.

Well cant find that post but my suggestion was to make all guides (not builds) in a c2v for 1st 20-30 votes. Than remove it.
In my eyes 20-30 votes are enaugh to establish some nice base for what kind of guide it is.

This is best, definitely.
Especially since most of the reason people take c2v (at least the ones that don't care about rating) is to get as much feedback as possible. After a certain amount of time, NO feedback comes in, other than what would come in anyways - most of the votes are "I did well with this guide +1". Not only would it stop a flurry of votes such as that (making it harder for the guide creator to sift through), it also makes it so that the score isn't artificially inflated.
The c2v should be taken off at a LOW level, because if you look in the top 10, there's a lot of builds that get there with only 20 or so votes. I think 30 is the best mark, personally.

Like, after 60 votes, C2V could no longer apply.
My reasoning behind this is that:
1. C2V is made to protect authors from troll votes
2. After a while, ratings get inflated, especially if they hit the monthly top 10 list. So the "protection" backfires.
3. The issue with starting without C2V altogether is that ratings drop too heavily based on 1~2 votes, which really hurts the confidence of the author.
If it were only temporary, it could give guides protection from troll votes early on until it had a stable enough rating to be properly rated when votes are anonymous.
This would be similar to a parent-child scenario; we only give the guides protection early on, but it has to be able to handle things on its own once it's had enough time (votes).
Note:
Sucess! This idea was implemented. ^__^
