I've been here for some time already (came from another forum where people couldnt accept any ideas that high ELO players never tryed) and saw that people here sure know how to choose items.

I've been thinking how to build a great tanker or offtanker. Many poeple say: "No, getting *item* is wrong. If you want to stay alive, get *item*". That happened most times I said that Warmog's Armor was a good item.

I realized that the best way is balance things. It's not get a fking def and MR, but HP sure is helpful. When I play as Mordekaiser, I like to get Warmog's Armor, Randuin's Omen and Force of Nature. Those three items give a great balance between HP, HP regen, armor and MR.
Of course you shouldn't get those items for every champion, you can change them, but you have to find the balance. There are different items for every champion, and knowing the right items can lead your team to victory.

The reason why Warmog's isn't a great item is because it gives lots of health, which is what you don't want if your resistances are low. Warmog's is MUCH better once you get a lot of resistance (200+ in both stats) and will actually contribute something at that point. Before that, though, you want armor and MR, almost always.

There are exceptions, though, such as Atmog's Lee Sin - but I'll leave that to an experienced Lee Sin player (like EvilDice or Booshido) to explain why it's good.

defensive items depend of the champion , for example mordekaiser really need life regen so Force of Nature is great for him

Banshee's Veil is more suited for carrys , Randuin's Omen is great for tanks and offtanks etc

also you need to adapt to enemy team , if you face mages whitout % hp based damage and with void staff HP is a great way to deal with them in fight but you will take heavy dmg from harassment etc etc

it really need your reflexion every game

Like what Jebus said .

If you were to get Warmogs you need +200 armor or magic resist .
Or both.
Thanks Jhoi,Xenasis,JEFFY40HANDS for the Sigs ! :D

On champions like Mordekaiser you NEVER want Warmog because his shield benefits from MR and armor.

On champions without shields you'll mostly want Warmog when you've got 100+ in both resistances and want to go for a little extra damage through Atma.
I find it great on Trundle for example. His ultimate also gives him resistances so it's even better.

I take advantage of my high armor and MR, thats why I get Warmogs. I have great runes, start with 60-80 armor and MR and its too easy to farm as Mordekaiser.
But I still dont recommend it, I've been playing as Mordekaiser for almost an year, I know how o make things happen, yet a new player doesnt.
And I dont see why its a bad item. Gives tons of HP to use skills and has HP regen, of course its not like FoN's regen, but helps.

Before you say, I'll not get sunfire. Ridiculous and useless item. Randuins is much better.

Having 150-200+ armor or MR or both turns HP kinda useless, especially Warmogs. Many items have armor+HP or MR+HP, so makes no sense get more HP.

I remember when I was made fun of for running Ionian Boots and Hextech Revolver(s) on Vlad. People couldn't grasp it because no "high ELO" players had done it. Glad the higher ELOs could finally catch up. And now Vlad is considered highest tier even after his last nerf and getting an item nerfed. And because of this "new" build that the higher ELOs finally "discovered" he is getting a huge nerf.

Same with Jarvan. I ran him as a tank from day one. Was laughed at for that because everyone thought he was only DPS. Now he is considered a one of the better tanks/offtanks.

Some people are VERY closed minded when it comes to trying new things. And in a game like this it is forever changing. I remember when Jungle Eve became an overnight sensation here.

With Morde the only problem with Warmogs is that it is taking a DPS item away from you. I always ran Force of Nature + Randuin's Omen and all DPS (Rylais, Rabadons, Hextech Gunblade etc) items afterward. I had a lot of success with that. Basically using your damage output to keep your shield up as high as possible.

Warmogs is great after you have a lot of mitigation. For Morde his shield acts as a huge pool of extra HP that he can replenish so most Mordes don't use Warmogs.

But if something

Exactly my point for not using Warmog..

There are NO pure HP and MR items. The only item with both is Banshee's Veil, but it provides mana, so it's not very good if you don't have mana.

This.

Basically, i run at 300+ of each resist with W activated, on my (Pure)Tank Mordekaiser.

The reason that you don't get HP items on Mordekaiser, is because if you build CDR and a bit of magic pen, you do enough damage consistantly that you'll never need to dip down into your HP bar.

There are a few items i feel are particularly important on mordekaiser.

Second highest MR in the game, 70 AP, and gives your whole team 20 magic pen.

Second highest armor in the game, 20% CDR and an aura that partially shuts down auto attackers in team fights.

Merc Treads All the other tenacity items are pretty bad for mordekaiser, and the only other option is Sorcerer's Shoes.

High armor, awesome active, splash of hp, why not?

Awesome Magic Resist for the price, a personal cleanse. Good item if you aren't looking to spend a lot.

375 hp, 50 Magic Resist, and one of the best actives for morde because it lets him initiate into the fight effectively, I'd pick it up.

Cheap spell vamp item with an Aura that gives it to your team. I've been trying to work this into my tank builds lately.

An all around awesome item on mordekaiser. If you just want to be generally better at dealing out pain, gunblade is your item.

Those are just a few items though. What you have to do, is look at the item, and ask yourself "What does mordekiaser gain by picking up this item?"
Tri lane for life.
