Thanks to The_Nameless_Bard for the sig!
Originally I came to Mobafire for the guides.
I used to follow this Ashe guide - 3 Doran Blades, Brutilizer, Boots of Swiftness, Infinity Edge, 2x Phantom Dancers.
Then I got rolled one game when this enemy Ashe built straight up a Bloodthirster (which is still awful, and shows clearly I was like level 18 or something), so I thought to myself, "No way is the build I'm following right."
So I ditched that build and built out of instinct (Ashe has no mana - especially pre level 20), so Philo Stone, and crit chance and damage coz of her awesome passive, amiright?!
My next champion was Nasus, but I used Hyfe's guide for that, and I think that was at leaguecraft?
Then I had a stint as Alistar with the then top build here. Support Alistar. At my level back then my team was like, "WTF NOOB YOU ARE MEANT TO BE THE TANK AND YOU ARE SO SQUISHY". This was when Alistar took down towers with his ult.
When I hit level 30, with around 300 wins under my belt, I went ahead and released my first guide here. The comments forced me to look at the forums, searching for "how to deal with troll" votes.
From there I fixed up my Ashe guide, created a few threads (Official QQ Thread, Faces to Names, my Review Thread, my Signature Shop) and a few guides (Making a Guide), then became a vet.

@jhoijhoi's comment:
-sigh- If only Matt never let that stupid Comment-2-Vote feature get implemented.
Then no one would be complaining about it.
And my Heimerdinger guide would be on the top 10. :D

I started looking for guides on the main LoL forums way back when. Eventually, the main guide thread redirected some guides to leaguecraft, so I started going there for my guides. I eventually made my veigar build there, which is like 4/4 or something and has been there like a year.
A friend of mine started making guides on mobafire (which I hadn't even heard of) and so I decided to transfer my veigar build over there. Then I'm thinking "wow, this guide making section is so much easier to use".. The guide layout was better and making a guide was easier, so I eventually released a singed build and never touched leaguecraft again.
Both my builds were pretty well received, so I made a renekton build. It was also very well received.
Around this time I had 3 #1 builds for each champion, so I was kinda well known on the site. Jebus then pm'd me and he's like "sup bro, you should become more active on the forums"... so yeah.

I seriously don't even know why I joined... but I do not regret it much, the guides here helped me out in my newbie days.
