let's be honest, RoA is a garbage item that throws health on casters so they think they're tanky. Meanwhile Annie gets void staff and sorc boots and does 150% damage to you. hello 2k Tibbers
Thanks for the Signature MissMaw!

lol? People get RoA BECAUSE of the health, so they are LESS squishy. It makes them able to survive 1 or 2 more seconds, wich is enough to cast their whole combo again. It's also that 1-2 second that WILL make a HUGE difference in the fight. Learn to play ap users -.-'

+rep me and you'll get good karma, wich means you won't be reincarnated into a rock! Isn't that awesome?

But yes this idea has been discussed more than Pam Anderson's tits in a plastic surgeons office.

Is it just me or do his abilities need a very slight AP ratio buff? Not huge, but he isn't even a factor in games when I play against him, even if massively fed.

Hello 1000elo nab <3

@Xnmiller
Yea, I think his ult may need a 0.1 ratio buff.
The moment a religious person unknowingly calls his own ways stupid: "And lol. I highly doubt you have magic powers. If you proved it I would believe you, but since you 'refuse to', I choose not to."

A VERY VERY slight ratio buff.

I've been overly fed just my last game, and that's one of the few times he can destroy your squishies.

I can't agree more to that, I haven't bought Rod of Ages since I was level 15 xD

I don't own Xerath but he seems fun to play. However this ability that makes him stop moving seems hard to use.

I'd agree here to a degree. His burst (if you land everything perfectly) is strong, but that requires landing Mage Chains on your target and being able to chain successive hits together. Not all that easy; doable for sure but not easy.

His early game/mid game damage is great, his harass and range work well in mid lane. But once teamfights break out and the meta golems start well doing what they do he falls off sharply. His Short CD high range means nothing when a champion like Irelia just wades through the enemy team ike it was nothing and rapes your face off. Being immobile, while providing rather nice benefits (I wish Locus of Power was flat pen rather than % pen...But that'd probably ACTUALLY make him OP.) It still makes you an easy target.

With ~700 AP I was still falling short of other AP carries I've played (in terms of pure nukeage). Cass/Annie/Brand. But with his range (their needs to be a perma active HUD for Xerath giving us a range reticule at all times when in or out of LoP, something to indicate where our range will be with LoP active, should help with positioning for team fights) he has superior poke advantage because his damage doesn't decrease through targets. So you substitute EXTREME nukeage for solid damage and amazing range. A slight buff to his ult would be nice, but for the most part I think his kit is well balanced.

RoA is a great all around item. When I see an enemy building damage rather than Rylai's or RoA I tend to scoff. Sure they have 220 AP but they only have 1200HP. I on the other hand have ~175 AP and close to 2k HP. You be the judge of who will win the burst contest.

Considering this Meta also encourages these tanky DPS ***********ers who can deal nice damage while having superior HP values, a mage with ~1200-1500 HP who can't deal enough burst damage to kill one of these guys sitting at 2200HP and a little mr is useless. But a mage who can survive long enough to get a combo off once or twice can kill them. So you either build damage and no survival or some survival and some damage. End game you'll have ~700AP and ~2200-2300HP sounds like a winner to me.

Not building RoA or Rylai's is just setting yourself up for failure unless the enemy team are complete morons.

Last score in ranked game with Lux without Rod of Ages or any sort of survivability item: 5-3-15. And the enemy was quite good.

Nope, you're wrong here.
I'm 100% certain that that is true. I've even heard high elo people say it. Rushing Deathcap is a risky move and should only be done in certain scenarios.

This means about as much to me as when Chaox tells people that Wriggle's lantern is great for AD carries.

Yet, the reality is, there's a place and a time for everything.

If you have an effective tankwall, and there's no assasin or long ranged anti carry, why bother with the RoA?

If you're a huge burst caster, like Annie, Brand, etc, Rabadon's is superior for team fights.

If you're a sustained damage dealing AP, Karthus, Cassiopiea, etc, then RoA would be a better investment, because you need to trade to deal your damage.

When I say false to simple statement, I am not necessarily saying that I think the 100% opposite is true, simply that the original statement is not.

Each caster is different, and therefore different strategies have different effects.

Malz for example uses RoA well because he's immobilized by his ult. Annie, while being a burst champion and using Rabadon's well, also makes the most out of an RoA with her passive Mr and Armor effects. If she doesn't have anyone to soak a hit for her, RoA is a fine choice as well.

Generally speaking however, I will always stand behind the team comp with more damage, and the items that deal more damage. Bloodthirster for sustain instead of Wriggle's. Infinity edge when you can buy it instead of Black Cleavers, and things like that.

You want your carry to melt things. You want your AP to be an atom bomb. You want your tank to be invincible.

This is why I always vouch slightly towards the damage dealers. Vayne, Brand, Rabadon's, Etc.
