Well, being an AD carry player, I have to agree with jhoijhoi.
I almost never, ever buy
Mercury's Treads unless everyone on the other team has heaps of hard CC, and by playing
Tristana from lvl 1-30 exclusively, I really don't find the need to buy
Mercury's Treads.
The attack speed granted from
Berserker's Greaves is a great asset for any AD carry IMO, and in fact, I find that the 25% attack speed it gives you benefits you throughout the whole game.
I never liked
Boots of Swiftness though :P
EDIT: I found internet overseas!!! YAY!

Btw, I think you agree with me. Jhoi used merc's when she hit 30 :P

Thanks to Janitsu for the sig!
I think that timeline was true for me too.
But once I bought mercs I didn't revert to AD carries.
I kept the boots and tossed out the roll, switching to DR mundo trolololo

A lot of newer players get
Boots of Swiftness. It helps with their terrible positioning and lack of MS runes/masteries. I used to use them a long time ago on
Ashe.
Not saying that you should be using BoS in the early summoner levels, but that is generally the case.

An AD Carry Summoner's Story:
Lol, columns OP.
I'd say this is true, more or less. Personally I've never bothered buying
