Bloodthirster and Hextech Gunblade also make Irelia's sustain unbelievable. So yeah, I'd rather build them early game rather than late, but they're still perfectly viable items on Irelia :)

Frozen Heart is really good, but most of the time I'd rather have Sunfire Cape or Warmogs for more HP.

mainly you want her tanky so she can jump on carries without dying. by stacking attack dmg items, you are defeating your offtank purpose. sure you may argue you do more dmg, but you should be leaving that to your AP or AD carry.

Mercury's Treads / Ninja Tabi > Wriggle's Lantern > Wit's End > Frozen Mallet > Guardian Angel > Last Whisper

As last sell Wriggle's Lantern for either Randuin's Omen / Frozen Heart or Bloodthirster, depending on what you need.

Also okayish to pick up Philosopher's Stone and/or Heart of Gold if you are having trouble.

What I've done in ranked is typically something like:

Boots(+3-4 pots)-Heart of Gold-ninja tabi- Trinity Force- Wit's End- Guardian Angel- Randuin's Omen- and end with either Force of Nature or Frozen heart.

That is just a standard "carry soloQ" build I run. In a real game I typically build for the situation though.

Imo if you want build , you should make it earlier cause you must stack your passive and in late game, you can die more times (TF, Fight at Nashor, Poke, etc...) instead of laning phase mostly if you playing safe and just cs below your turret ;)

But i think you should build these item for Irelia :

Mercury's Treads/ Tabi Ninja

Wriggle's Lantern - (only if you agaisnt heavy AD and if your laning phase is hard imo, you can take this item also if you wan't play more safety with sustain and ward)

Heart of Gold - Good income and good for your hp pool

Wit's End Scale well with your Z, and make you a bit more tanky vs AP

Guardian Angel - Good for TF, must have

Then build Frozen Mallet and upgrade your HoG in Randuin's Omen

Last item should be pick according what ennemy team build, if they have heavy AP compo take Force of Nature if they have heavy AD take Frozen Heart

And in very late game 50min++ sell your Wriggle's Lantern and buy Bloodthirster but make sure passive is completely stack.

Edit : IceCreamy had already say what I explained ^^

I usually vary from 2 Irelia builds.

Mercury's Treads / Ninja Tabi > Wit's End > Frozen Mallet > Atma's Impaler > Randouin's Omen > Force of Nature

Mercury's Treads / Ninja Tabi > Trinity Force > Warmog's Armor > Atma's Impaler > Randouin's Omen > Force of Nature

Both leave you super tanky, and give you plenty of damage. My build isn't set in stone though, and quite often I switch Force of Nature for Guardian Angel.

Trinity force is(almost)core on her after her nerf-buffs.

You want a really tanky irelia.

I consider Randuin's core on her as well since you need the slow to not get kited by enemy ad-carry and make sure you have some moar cc for the whole enemy team.
Ty MM and Blood for the sigs :3 | Rammus is comming back - heard it here first!

I love TriForce on her. She does so much damage with the sheen proc.

I'm not denying that Tri-Force is a good item, but the sheen proc is really not that great. Especially late game.

At level 18, it will do 115 extra damage per proc. Which will be reduced to around 50 - 70 damage after resistances... Which is pretty negligible imo.

The only reason tri-force is good is because it gives you a silly amount of reasonable stats for just one item. IMO the sheen proc and Phage proc are really meh... I'd rather just build a Frozen Mallet for a similar amount of gold. 100% slow and more HP? Yes please.

Shurelya's is also a really good item on her for chasing people down and also because it gives your whole team a GTFO button. Oh, and it builds from a GP5 ^_^
