Tosh she answered you pretty well. It's the idea that people are teaching this kind of thing to children that she finds scary. And people do teach this to kids. I know. I've seen it. In fact in Louisiana people are making a big fuss about their schools teaching creationism. Now I like you Tosh, but trying to continue your straw man argument is... well, I don't think I need to say that.

Straw man argument? We're discussing the validity and 'evidence' that jhoijhoi brought forward in her OP, aka the entire point that this topic exists. The fallacy she's using is called "generalization" based off of faulty, inconclusive evidence and the fallacy you're using is indeed a straw man. Oh the irony!

You, the student, were responsible for labeling examinations with the grade/period, not the teacher. The title of this entire document (if you take a look at the screen cap posted in the OP) is very very controversial in the fact that its structure is all wrong.

Secondly, the source. The source is an anon user from /reddit/ who refuses to specify the name of the school that this quiz came from.

Need I say more? Jhoijhoi's OP is of poor research. You would figure an aspiring science major be more fine tuned to doing the legwork of research and discovery first before presenting their claims as a theory. It seems she's simply trying to sell "her feelings" as definitive proof.

I have way more weight in my argument than Jhoijhoi can even dream of having for her side. Siding with her on this debate based on what she has presented is.... well, I don't think I need to say that.

Fair enough, that's a valid point. I do have to say that the "core concept" of this debate does still stand of course. This, probably fake, example still adresses some points that jhoi obviously finds scary for the lack of a better word.

you can base your argument in things I didn't say if you want. I'll just hope you have some kind of catharsis after pointing out "fallacies".

No the argument is as GMD said. We are not generalizing, you over over specifying. And that indeed is a straw man argument. The core argument remains as not what you are arguing against. The irony tosh, is that you tried to use your knowledge of argument and logical fallacies to make me look silly, but you were incorrect in your evaluation.

Thank you Miss Maw, CasterMaster and Arcana3 for the sweet sigs. I'd definitely recommend you to anyone looking for a nice sig.

But are there not lunatics on every side?

Jhoijhoi has expressed in the past that she thinks EVERYONE who believes in religion thinks like this. There are multiple cases where she even stated that she would never trust any religious person on topics because she already has a stereotype to see them by. That's the issue I face and that's exactly why I find her ignorance unbearable when she creates threads based on these rather ridiculous pieces of 'evidence'.

It's the same as a sexist saying "All women are stupid and ignorant, here is my proof". Many, if not all, of her reasonings behind her views are just that extreme.

I'm not quite so sure that these are actually good reasons to disbelieve the authenticity (which is not its trollbait-i-ness) of the image. Dinosaurs: Genesis and the Gospel appears to be a real, existent thing, and it is probably used in at least a handful of private schools. So I'm willing to believe that this is a real test that was given based upon the Dinosaurs: Genesis and the Gospel DVDs. Whether or not it was actually filled out by a child is less clear, though.

As for putting the grade and subject on the test... I can easily think of several perfectly valid reasons to do that. Perhaps it's from a teaching tool that contains example test materials, and the teacher forgot to remove that part (even though this is unlikely in this case); perhaps the teacher teaches multiple grade levels and subjects and needs to label things to keep track of what tests are for which; perhaps the teacher includes that information as part of a lesson plan organization system; etc. Largely it comes down to the individual teacher's preferences, though. It is also worth noting that printing the grade level and subject matter is even standard practice for pretty much all standardized tests in the US.

Tosh's questions about the source and the source's reasons for posting the image are, IMO, a better track to be taking when questioning the image.

It's just a point, if not a speculation. Either or, sources please for where this mysterious photo came from? Not even the real poster of this image will specify.

Definitely, and I do agree on that fact. Personally, I do really get what she means, I dislike religion in every possible way. I consider it useless and obsolete. Though, I wouldn't dismiss everything someone says because they are religious. If the religion is irrelevant to the subject; it's of no concern. If it is, I dont mind it as long they don't bother me with it or are at least open to a good discussion.

And just like that, the topic is resolved: Lunatics are everywhere.

I won't dismiss the fact that there are really bizarre and ridiculous people in religion. Chances are if you find what they're saying to be outlandish and ridiculous, I will probably agree with you. If the image in OP is actually indeed true, then it's an outright shame that they're going about the subject of science in such an ignorant fashion. However, seeing how this photo spawned in Reddit's atheism section (which, just like every other political/philosophical/anything section on Reddit is a ***********), I'm going to have to say it's false. I feel like this whole thread was nothing more than trollbait much like most of Jhoijhoi's other serious discussion threads and arguments.
