I tried Ruby Crystal item on Sona when Heart of Gold existed, and Sightstone did not. I didn't feel impactful at all. Now that I buy pots and wards at the start of the game (including 1 pink) I feel like I"m making a real difference, and I am! Because Sona has more effective HP if you simply bought blue potions than buying Ruby Crystal... a few W's and you have paid for a ruby crystal, without paying 475.

You can also play an AP Sona and possibly carry, but HP runes are helpful for NEITHER role.

I did test Ruby Crystal start on Sona before, and I also did AP build on her (heck, I even went top Sona before with Iceborn Gauntlet and Warmog), so I will comment how I felt.

It was not really good. Sona having no mana sustain really hurt the laning phase. I couldn't harass the opponent fully enough.

I would rather prefer sustain start at first.

And about AP items as support...

If you are going AP Support Sona, don't forget about Lich Bane. Godly item on Sona.

But, if you don't get enough farm, it's hard to go items like WOTA, Rabadon, or Zhonya. If you really want AP, try cheaper option, like Twin Shadows.

Like, you keep saying "Test it first." But, buddy, here is a thing:

How can I even test AP Build at first place if I won't even have enough money to build all of these items?

I won't upvote it or downvote it.

i prefer to play that with ez adc ... i got games where enemy is still lvl 1 while my adc is lvl 4 ... just because of my harass ... this sona build gives you the sustain and the dmg to do that in early... sure you`ll have to play agressive ... and yes if the enemy jungler comes over triebush ... you need to go back ... but ... even if you port back ... you got enough money to buy standart ards and play as usuall

Hi Panda, thanks for your comment.

I´ll have to say ... okay it`s true ... i don`t have that ward capability, like maybe other guides have.

But i`ll have a question too ... did you test it ? I think no ... and thats why i now tell you what the positive sides on this build is ...

At low level ... 1-3 you can do 2on1 with Sona without any problems ... which means you just push the enemy adc + sup to port back very quick. THAT gives you and your ADC the chance to get 2-3 lvl higher than the enemy is.

My build for Sona is something "very new", please test it ... and play AGRESSIVE ... yuo will see ... that you are on 30% HP while your Enemys have to port back, becasue of instant kill with next Q.

This Sona build is a Shut Down for Enemy Botlane. Your ADC dont even need to take part of the matches ... he just needs to farm ... while you ALONE get the enemys to port back with lvl 2-3.

This build gives you the capability to keep the enemy adc at low farm and low xp ... which means you automaticly win your lane early or later.

pls just test it with an adc you trust in ... maybe in a normal game ... takes you maybe max. 30 min. and than answer again

Ok, so i saw some very important mistakes in your guide, that you should learn of:

Your item build.
  • Zeke's herald is a great item for support, because it buffs your ad carry quite a lot, however, sona doesn't really depend on autoattacks, so i don't think it's a perfect item to build on her and it definetely takes place of other, much more fitting items.
  • AP items are sure nice, but they are too expensive for a support, because he is not getting almost any farm and the only thing he is getting gold from are assists. I sure recommend buying ap items like Ohmwrecker, Shard of True Ice or Twin Shadows, but Zhonya's Hourglass or Will of the Ancients don't really stick the support role that much...
  • Ruby Crystal isn't the best starting item since it doesn't provide you any sustain, or wards. Also, as a support, yous hould always be in lane to protect your adc and those nearly 20 seconds can really matter. It will really set you behind.

The guide:
  • Try to introduce BB code, to break those walls of text a bit. Your guide will look much nicer and people will be more into reading it. Be sure to check out jhojhoi's guide to guiding.
  • Everytime you release a guide, it should be completely done. I don't understand people that release a guide and it has only welcome chapter and some builds.

I hope a helped you at least a little bit... Definetely try to check some other guides before you make another one and have a nice day ^^

Sorry to inform you but -1. If you watched any competitive support player you'll see more and more they buy wards at the start of the game. Recent pro games have abandoned even faerie charm purchases at start of game.

By buying Ruby Crystal you may rush sightstone earlier, but if you get ganked and creamed you'll wish you spent 75g on ward. Yes, 75 gold or 475 gold that may still put you OOM and dead? Worse still your carry could die.

Max W first, so you or your adc don't die.

Will of Ancients is no benefit to your ADC, so unless you're on an all AP team.. that gold could go to Shurelya's or other, much more fitting items.

Good luck on your next guide.

this build should be in every match where there is a sona support because it raises her low health and armor a bit and you get some great ap so you end with a supp that makes a basic attack and the carry just needs 1 hp hit to get the kill (sona's q passive ultra op) and heals you from 1 hp to 1000.

good job, keep it up. ^^
