she benefits far more from other similarly priced items except in a few very specific situations.
Janna and Lulu are really the only supports who have any consistent use for the item as is currently.

It's not a good item. Like all auras, there is 0 satisfaction associated with them. Then, for it to actually come into play, your adc would have to be able to maximize his auto's, or else the bonus AS means nothing if the adc can't orbwalk. And then you may not even end up shielding your adc at all during a fight, so it becomes wasted.
So basically: it's not fun to use and has a laundry list of prerequisites.

Janna makes great use of the ardent censer. Seriously, 60 ad + 25% attack speed is a great combination. If anything, it helps push towers down faster xD It's also nice if you manage to channel your ultimate long enough for the healing to tick at least once, the AoE attackspeed buff is nice when you have something like vi jungle and jax top.

Alistar too I suppose, due to the constant AoE heals. I feel as if he can increase the minion wave's power substantially, which is more than enough of a reason to get it. Then again, you lose out on potential tanky stats which might seem like a turn off, especially if you get it early.

If you're not constantly shielding your adc while playing
Janna in a fight, then you're doing something wrong. Also, in a pinch, there are plenty of fighters/bruisers who depend on auto-attacks that would benefit from the AD and attack speed boost. For example, Riven, Jax, Xin Zhao, Aatrox, etc.
Seems very niche to me. Essence Reaver is the better of the two in terms of usefulness, though. At least it will solve some mana problems for people who want to spam their skills.
