I've been in Platinum since Season 6 and plan to hit Diamond eventually!

If this guide goes well I hope to make more guides soon :x

Introduction Back to Top
I decided to make a guide as Soraka is one of my main champions in my pool and I love her!

Also with this guide I have made seperate chapter titles so its easier to find information. As well as adding hyperlinks to items and champions and highlighting text to make it some what colourful or easier to read instead of it all as default font. And have added a range of threats and synergy champions that I have come across.

One day I'm gonna try and reach 1 Mil Mastery Points :<
Soraka is queen and I have all her skins now ♡♡
Pros & Cons Back to Top
I have conducted a pros and cons list of playing Soraka so you know what is expected D:

Pros
    ❣ Can heal often
    ❣ Global heal ultimate
❣ Goes well with most ADC's
    ❣ Good sustain in lane
❣ Can cancel abilities from opponents with Soraka silence

Cons
❣ Main focus in team fights :(
❣ Squishy target for assasins or so
❣ Can be poked out of lane to do any pressure
Abilities Back to Top
(Passive) Soraka gains 70% Movement Speed when moving towards allied champions below 40% of their maximum health, which means you run to those allies who are low or trying to escape. Soraka the saviour <: [/td]
(Q) If Soraka hits at least one enemy champion, she is also granted Rejuvenation for 2.5 seconds, which restores 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 (+30% of ability power) health and grants her a decaying 15 / 17.5 / 20 / 22.5 / 25% movement speed buff over its duration. I love using her Q often in laning phase as it slows targets down, gives a small movement boost and heals Soraka also giving more health to heal your team mate!
(W) Her W is used to heal allies, she cannot heal if her health is below 5%. I love how much healing she can do as well as using Starcall to regain health back to repeat if needed.
(E) Her E is often used to silence opponents from using their abilities or even to cancel during team fights which is quite handy for those champions like Katarina. On top of that if opponents are still in the silence circle till it ends they are also rooted up to 2 seconds.
(R) Wish ability has a 50% increased heal on allied champions below 40% of their maximum health. Her R/Ult is amazing as no matter where you are on the map you can still ult to heal team mates, whether they are 1v1ing top or mid; you can always look and keep an eye out to help with heals to make sure they don't die during a fight or even to win the battle!
Summoner Spells Back to Top
[*] I pick Flash on D and Barrier on F as others may choose the other way around, I don't have much of a reason to it but I feel more comfortable playing with the spells on D and F.

[*] I choose Flash for Soraka get away or escape, I choose Barrier over Ignite or Exhaust as in team fights or laning phase I tend to get focused or the opponents try to dive under tower. Having Barrier also gives a small amount of shield or so to survive from ignite or last hits.

[*] Heal can be an alternative to Barrier/Exhaust or Ignite if you want to take extra heals or the ADC may take Barrier or Exhaust incase. Such a Yasuo that may take Flash & Exhaust. Or if your ADC takes Barrier then be expected to take Heal.

[*] Ignite might be good early depending on how your ADC is, it also depends if you can use ignite during fights in hopes it gets someone.

[*] Exhaustis okay but it wouldn't be my ideal pick as in some team fights if they have a Trydamere or Olaf, Exhaust has no real effect when they are in Ult, it may be useful for other champions but personally I prefer Barrier over other spells. Exhaust is standard or requested by other team mates as it slows the targetted champion by 30% and reduces their damage output by 40%.
Runes Back to Top
Summon Aery: I choose Aery for all her match ups as it offers damage and shields. As you use Starcall for damage dealing so Aery will fly and hit opponents as well as her Equinox and her Astral Infusion healing with a small shield from Aery too.
Manaflow Band: I thought Manaflow Band was a good choice for Soraka as she requires health and mana to restore health to allies. With more mana = more possible healing to allies; as stated after reaching 250 bonus mana it will restore 1% of the missing mana ever 5 seconds.
Celerity: All movement bonuses are 7% more effective on Soraka, which is helpful especially when keeping allies alive during fights. The guide is called Ambulance Soraka as shes fast and coming to help!
Scorch: The last rune is scorch which allows the next damaging ability hit sets champions on fire for 15-35 bonus magic damage based on level with a 10 second cooldown. So using Starcall will effectively deal magic damage.
Bone Plating: I think Bone Plating is a good choice as after taking damage from enemy champions it allows the next 3 spells or attacks will give Soraka between 30-60 less damage. Which is effective as in lane Soraka will be poked or focused and with dealing less champion is realiable.
Revitalize: This is extremely helpful to Soraka as her abilities provide healing and shields to allies. She provides 5% heals and shielding power. She also has an additional 10% heals and shielding to targets who are below 40% health. In total Soraka provides 15% heal and shield power.
Offense x2 + Defense x1: 1st Diamond for +9 Adaptive Power over attack speed and cooldown reduction. You do not need to take Time because with Soraka build you can easily obtain 40% cooldown reduction. 2nd Diamond over Armour and Magic Resist. Last rune is +6 Armour just for a little Defense and much more useful over Health but consider taking the circle for +8 Magic Resist if you find yourself up against a mage duo botlane or so.

Optional Runes for Sorcery

[*] I have put additional runes below with explanation that you can also take instead of Celerity and Scorch.

Transcendence: This can be picked if you want to rush having 10% cooldown reduction by level 10 or even getting 40% cooldown as soon as possible. At level 10 you will receive 10% cooldown and when you hit 40% cooldown, you get AP (Ability Power) for any extra CDR. Since you are building and rushing cooldown reduction, you would probably find yourself overcapping in cooldown, so this would transition well into your build and does not waste any extra cooldown reduction
Gathering Storm: This rune is chosen quite often for Soraka as it provides AP (Ability Power) scaling and this can be handy if the game is dragged out. Gathering storm scales better over time which means more AP (Ability Power) for healing team mates.
Item Build Back to Top
Spellthief's Edge should be a standard first item for Soraka and 2 Health Potion, Spellthief Edge will be transformed to Frostfang and then into Shard of True Ice. This item needs to gather stacks before it can be transformed, the 1st upgrade will provide wards to help you ward around the map for vision. Each upgrade increases Soraka Adaptive Power, Gold generation, Health and increased base Mana regen.

Consider buying Ardent Censer as it gives Soraka +8% movement speed and +10% bonus healing and shielding power. It increases Soraka abilities and boosts your ADC attack speed. This item helps proc Summon Aery which also makes it a good team buff team fighting.

I tend to build Athene's Unholy Grail first as you can stack Athene's and spam the use of abilities more without worrying about mana so much. It grants 5 ability power for every 25% base mana regen as well as providing 10% cooldown reduction, magic resist and 100% base mana regen.
Redemption is another Soraka Wish (R) which grants health back but with mana too but a delay upon casting unlike her ult. You can use Redemption during team fights you're not in and out of range to help, the radius range is 5500 when hovering over it and will show you whats in range and whats not. You can also use Redemption when you're dead to help allies.
I use to go with Boots of Mobility but changed into Ionian Boots of Lucidity, as these boots provide +10% cooldown reduction and reduces Summoner Spells by 10%. Having a a lot of CDR early in lane can be quite helpful for your ADC and your team, once you hit level 6 your allies might rely and hope you have Wish to help them during a fight. Boots of Mobility provides +115 Movement Speed when out of combat for 5 seconds, I realised it would not make much difference during a team fight as you'll always be in combat till you die, till your team backs off or so. Especially with Soraka passive she gains 70% Movement speed to allies that are below 40% of their maximum health.

~ So these next items listed can be the 6th and final item to the build. I have listed a few depending on the matchup.
Quicksilver Sash would be chosen if you have matchup with champions that have knock ups/roots/stuns and qith QSS it can help you out and remove all crowd control debuffs. Eg champions with long range cc engage such as Malphite, Sejuani; it might be useful against Malzahar ult, Skarner ult, Ashe ult, etc.
Zhonya's Hourglass upgraded version of [Stopwatch]] which you can use more than once with a timer, this provides ability power, armour and 10% cooldown reduction. A better choice over Banshee's Veil and useful against champion ults such as Zed, Kayn, Fizz, etc.
Locket of the Iron Solari as it grants Armour and Magic Resist, it also grants a decaying shield to nearby allied champions and yourself for 2.5 seconds. Most used to prevent damage in a smaller area.
Banshee's Veil as it grants a spell shield that blocks the next enemy ability and is refreshed after no damage is taken from enemy champions for 40 seconds.
Useful against a champion like Malphite
Twin Shadows built for the active which consists of summoning 2 spooky ghosts that follow/chase nearby enemy champions and haunting them upon contact. Enemies that are haunted are aslowed by 40% for up to 5 seconds. I build this item sometimes if our team doesn't have Exhaust or a reason to start an engage / enemy team always running away D:
Warmog's Armor is good but consider buying more health items as it can activate its passive and upgrading it to Warmog's Heart (3000 maximum health). More health = more healing provided for the team, especially warmogs heart restores 25% of maximum health every 5 seconds if damage hasnt been taken in 6 seconds.
Spirit Visage may be built depending on your enemy team comp, as it offers 10% cooldown reduction, 100% base health regen, 55 Magic Resist and on top of that this items passive increases all healing, regeneration and drain effects on yourself by 30%. I choose this because of the passive and increased healing is really good on Soraka as her main goal is to keep her team alive through the fight!
Mercury's Treads bought depending on the team comp, if you feel you need some Magic Resist or early MR in lane against a Mage support such as Neeko, Lux, Brand, Morgana, etc. Or build Ninja Tabi for Armour against AD (Attack Damage) champions..
Boots of Mobility may be bought to roam and pressure others lanes if winning as well as to roam if their support is roaming too! It increases Soraka movement speed by +115 if out of combat for 5 seconds.
