I go by the name
ELOSANTA and I have mained
ADC since
Season 3.
Lucian is one of my favorite champions and I have played him a lot. Statistically I have been the 3rd best
Lucian at one point in Season 8.

As well as had some
play making moments in
Professional play
I stream on
twitch and I played
semi-professionaly. I started playing league back in Season 3 and have mained
ADC since then.
I have peaked
Rank 8 with
929 LP in early season 9.
I stream almost everyday on my
Twitch so if you have any questions or want to learn a thing or two you can go
HERE or can just ask me directly in my

Lucian - the Purifier
Primary - ADC, Secondary - TOP, MID
Synergy: Supports that go for long trades.
Jungler ganking potential: Almost none, relies on support.
Speciality: Duelist
How to build Lucian? Warning! The following text is not updated, I will keep the build updated always but the actual guide will be outdated in some ways as I would have to re-write it all. The general way of playing Lucian is still the same so you can continue reading through it ! The current highest winrate build for Lucian is going Blade of the Ruined King into any Boots , whether it would be Berserker's Greaves or Ninja Tabi or even Mercury's Treads against a lot of AP into Essence Reaver. This build is extremely powerful, as the winrate over all regions for Lucian for as of this patch is quite low at 49%, but this build has a winrate of 54% in over 60,000 matches. The winrate goes up even more - people who finish their fourth item Rapid Firecannon or Infinity Edge have a winrate of a staggering 58% in over 40,000 games!

Berserker's Greaves > ATTACK SPEED
The best item to get for early attack speed is Berserker's Greaves. This item is extremely good on Lucian since it pairs well with your Press the Attack rune. Buying Berserker's Greaves early on will get you some dueling potential and movement speed.
Ninja Tabi > ARMOR
There are games where you might be too behind to get your core items, so you cannot build any defensive items, like Phantom Dancer or Maw of Malmortius so opt out for taking Ninja Tabi as a safe defensive item.
|
INFINITY EDGE
|
VS
|
RAPID FIRECANNON
|
Infinity Edge is a very good item to pick up when you are extremely ahead to insert your leads into the game. If you are not ahead it's better to pick up Infinity Edge as your fifth item, and take a Zeal item as your fourth item. |
Rapid Firecannon is your general item to buy if game is going smooth, you aren't super ahead and don't want the domination from Infinity Edge , if you are behind consider taking Phantom Dancer instead of Rapid Firecannon as it will give you more survivability. Remember, if you buy Phantom Dancer you can't buy Maw of Malmortius later on, since they use the same passive. |
PROS
+ Great at dueling
+ Very mobile
+ Consistant damage
+ Clears waves fast
+ Strong at every elo
+ Lane bully
Lucian is a very fun champion to play. He is strong early and very mobile. Lucian can make plays on his own, independent of his support. He can singlehandedly carry mid game skirmishes which dictate a major part of the game. Press the Attack is very easy to proc on Lucian which makes him synergize with many supports well and short trades favor him very well. |
|
CONS
- Hard to master
- Short range
- High mana costs
- Squishy
- Weak to hard CC
- Falls off late game.
Lucian has a very tough time coming back into the game when he is behind. This makes playing him more difficult. He has short range so he has to use his mobility tools to get in range, which makes him vulnerable to hard lockdown spells. Lucian isn't a hyper carry and cant win the game alone. Lucian falls off late game as well, so ending games early is a must for him. |
Hard matchups:
In the laning phase the only way for
Lucian to win against
Draven is to rely on ganks or outplaying, the only other way around this is to have a support who can hard cc
Draven while
Lucian gets off his entire combo plus passive shots. Also after level 6 and when
Draven gets
Bloodthirster,
Draven's damage output becomes much larger than that of
Lucian's so always play safe against him.
Cassiopeia can lock down
Lucian easily with her
Miasma and she out damages
Lucian in almost all stages of the game, pre 6 you can duel her if you dodge her
Noxious Blast, post 6 avoid all duels unless engaging with team.
Ashe is another hard matchup for
Lucian, she outranges him pretty hard and the new Ashe CC makes it even harder for
Lucian to get close in range where he wants to be to duel
Ashe.
Even matchups
if
Ezreal pokes
Lucian down pre-fight and manages to dodge Lucians
Piercing Light in fights, then
Ezreal wins flat out. If
Lucian manages to dodge poke and blows Ezreal's
Arcane Shift before he uses
Piercing Light then
Lucian wins flat out.
Kog'Maw is not a big problem for
Lucian in the early game, as
Kog'Maw hasn't ramped up his attack speed by then. Matchup is in
Lucian favor pre 6, post 6 mostly losing matchup unless your support can dictate the lane. Late game avoid him at all costs as he is a demolishing machine late game.
If you as
Lucian has an engage/catch support like
Leona or
Thresh,
Lucian can win this matchup easily. You just have to dare to play offensive. If
Caitlyn has a poke support, it's gonna be a lot harder. As long as you are inside your range of her, you have a lot more dps.
Walk/
Relentless Pursuit into range, use passive,
Ardent Blaze her for speed, use
Lightslinger,
Piercing Light, use
Lightslinger, then another
Relentless Pursuit.
Poke supports tend to be squishy, so if you deal damage to them before they deal to you, you might force them to play passively
Vayne can dodge
Lucian's
Piercing Light with her
Tumble. She can also stop
Lucian's ult with her
Condemn. A good
Vayne can easily win, but a good
Lucian is also strong. Should be a good fight, but
Vayne has the advantage.
Jhin is a pretty easy matchup since
Lucian has high DPS damage, while
Jhin is more of a Poke-y champion in the laning phase. Stay on
Jhin and don't let him get away with short duels.
Lucian outdamages
Kai'Sa early on, but once
Kai'Sa gets her evolutions she is pretty much unbeattable in duels, unless you have a winning support avoid dueling her after her
Icathian Rain evolution (upgrades at level 8-10)
This champion has zero to none escape abilities so you can easily deal with him during laning phase with your
Relentless PursuitEasy matchups
The key to beat
Senna is longer trades during laning phase so try to pick fights on higher health. Also make sure to dodge her stun with your
Relentless Pursuit since the ability moves slow and has a big indicator.
Twitch loses to
Lucian pretty hard, just like
Sivir he wants to farm for his items, which a lane bully like
Lucian excels at stopping. Engage / trade early on to make it hard for
Twitch to farm for his items.
This match up is not as complicated as it may seem. All you really got to do is watch out for her feathers while laning, you can also dodge them with your
Relentless Pursuit. Once you dodged it she should be an easy kill.
All in
Tristana once she uses either her
Explosive Charge or
Rocket Jump. Once you get a small lead you will beat her at all times throughout the game.
Pretty basic lane,
Sivir aims to farm early game for her 3 item power spikes so abuse that by constantly harassing her and engaging in small duels / trades.
Its a really easy matchup since her range is short like yours. Your all in deals way more than hers so dont be afraid to fight her during laning phase. You can dodge her
Bullet Time aswell with your
Relentless Pursuit so make sure you don't waste your
Relentless Pursuit before going into a fight.
A good
Lucian player shouldn't lose this match. All of
Varus abilities can be dodged using
Relentless Pursuit. If the
Lucian player is experienced he should win, now this match is not impossible for
Varus to win the matchup because he could time his skills after
Lucian uses his
Relentless Pursuit so as
Lucian you have to know when to use your
Relentless Pursuit. Lucian's
Relentless Pursuit is 18 second cool down at level 1 and
Varus'
Piercing Arrow is 16 seconds so if you use it to dodge something be aware that his arrow comes off cool down first.
Varus'
Hail of Arrows is also another thing
Lucian can outplay with his
Relentless Pursuit, at level 1
Varus'
Hail of Arrows is a 18 second cool down which is equal to Lucian's
Relentless Pursuit. Unless
Varus is engaging pre level 6 if he is just using it to poke it's not worth a dash because
Varus can follow with a
Piercing Arrow while you're running away. After
Varus has level 6 save your dash for his
Chain of Corruption. Read his body language since it is a short range if we walks up be ready to dash away.
Jinx is weak to
Lucian's burst and mobility (to dodge
Zap!/
Super Mega Death Rocket!), but the match up is down to supports.
Lucian dominates
Kalista in lane and is a very easy match up. Don't be afraid to dash into her with your
Relentless Pursuit in the laning phase since your damage output is much higher than
Kalista's in the early to mid game.
