Why Choose Xayah?

Xayah is a high damage, and rather safe ADC pick with slight utility. Featherstorm is one of the best ultimates on an ADC. It provides for damage setup, and makes you invulnerable to any incoming damage. She is also really strong when paired with Rakan with their damage, CC, and peel potential.

Runes

Lethal Tempo boosts Xayah's attack speed really high. This is rather useful because she only builds 1 attack speed item. The combination of that 1 attack speed item, Deadly Plumage and Lethal Tempo should be more than enough to shred enemy champions.
Takedowns restore 12% of your missing health and grant an additional 20 gold. This is arguably the best rune. This can keep you alive from Ignite or another champion.
Takedowns on enemies grant permanent Attack Speed. This is good for scaling into late game and have overall DPS

Deal more damage to low health enemy champions. This is good for securing kills, and executing low HP enemies
Gain increasing amounts of AD or AP, adaptive over the course of the game. This is good as it gives you a decent late game, and you scale well over the course of the game.
Gain 3% extra MS. Gain extra AP or AD, adaptive based on your bonus MS. This is good for ADC's because you gain extra move speed helping how immobile most ADC's are, like Xayah.

Abilities

ACTIVE: Xayah throws two feather-blades in quick succession, dealing physical damage, and leaving two Feathers on the ground.

ACTIVE: Xayah creates a storm of blades for 4 seconds that grant her attack speed and cause her basic attacks to strike an additional time for 20% damage. She gains 30% move speed for 1.5 seconds after striking an enemy with Deadly Plumage If Rakan is nearby, he also gains these effects.

ACTIVE: Xayah calls all Feathers back to her, dealing physical damage to enemies they pass through, increased by 0% − 50% (based on critical chance). Enemies take 100% − 10% (based on feathers hit) damage from Feather, and the total damage is halved against minions. Enemy champions who are hit with 3 or more feathers are rooted for 1 second

ACTIVE: Xayah leaps into the air becoming untargetable for 1.5 seconds, during which is still able to move, then rains down daggers which deal physical damage and leave behind a line of 5 Feathers.

Item Explanation

This new item allows for ADC's to have a somewhat effective and cost efficient early game item, to spike rather early. With the unique passive allowing you to crit on your first auto attack, you can CS easily and do more damage in trades. This item allows for a clean balance between AD and AS.

This item is good on Xayah because it helps her lack of range, and synergizes well with Xayah's passive Clean Cuts because she can now easily place a feather behind someone by auto attacking with Rapid Firecannon

Xayah's Bladecaller synergizes well with crit, due to its crit scaling. Hence the building of

This item is a great tank shredding item, which was changed to do more damage to people with a lot more armor. You usually get this later on in the game (after Infinity Edge) to shred tanks like Malphite later in the game. This item can be switched out if Grevious Wounds needs to be applied to someone with Mortal Reminder

This item was changed earlier on to provide 40 Attack Damage and 40 Armor making this a great idea to build on a Marksman like Xayah. The unique passive allows for you to be revived after dying. This is good for assassins who gave to burn everything to kill you because you can be revived and they would have done everything for nothing, turning the tables. Of course keeping yourself alive is important. This item has a cooldown so you would usually sell and switch this item out for something like a Mercurial Scimitar while you wait.

This item is good because it gives you more Attack Speed which equals more damage. Of course though if the enemy team is really high in Attack Damage or CC you can switch the boots for the other options like Ninja Tabi or Mercury's Treads.

How To Play Xayah WITH Rakan

When you are playing Xayah Rakan in the bot lane, you have the trade advantage at almost all times.

First off, make sure both of you start W, which for Xayah would be Deasdly Plumage Deadly Plumage Rakan's would be Grand Entrance

^ You want to do this because as read before in the abilities section, When Xayah has Active Rakan also gains these effects, which would boost their damage together significantly, using a mix of CC.

You want to play this lane rather aggressive, especially against supports or ADCs that do not have high mobility like Ashe. They don't stand a chance. There are 3 situations that could happen if Xayah and Rakan engage with W's. First the enemy has to blow flash or both summoner spells. Second they will be chunked really hard and will be forced to back off. Third they will just end up dying to the burst potential Xayah and Rakan have.

You should be playing confidently when these 2 are paired together. They can be really efficient by using their unique passive to recall together. One example of this would be Xayah backing early while Rakan destroys vision or gains vision. The Rakan will then just jump back and quickly recall with Xayah.

^ Keep in mind that Rakan has bonus range when jumping onto Xayah with his Battle Dance or his E ability.

Rakan excels in engaging and peeling for the ADC if he is good. So with you and your ultimate, it is actually rather hard to die as Xayah Rakan.

A good combination of abilities to use with these 2 paired together is using ultimates together. If Rakan gets a 2 person charm knockup, then Xayah can proceed to Featherstorm into a quick Bladecaller.

Another trick when playing Xayah Rakan is baiting. You can either have Rakan sit in a bush or far back in lane, (out of enemies sight) to allow for an easy knockup.

^ Since Rakan has a higher range Battle Dance with Xayah, this means he can jump to Xayah into a Grand Entrance smooothly.

^ This is due to the bot lane thinking they have pressure in lane, only seeing Xayah.

The way you want to fight in this lane is to start with W as Rakan goes in, Q, as they have been CC'ed, weave in auto attacks, and finally E, to root the enemies or do extra damage.

How To Play Xayah WITHOUT Rakan

Of course you can play Xayah without Rakan. Though this requires you to play differently. The first main part is early on, you want to start Double Daggers instead of Deadly Plumage level 1. This is because with Xayah you can easily CC the enemies yourself by swiftly placing 3 feathers behind them, with a Q, and auto attack.

I generally play Xayah some what passive in these lanes unless I have a kill lane, or heavy CC support like Thresh or a Pyke.

I usually let the support go in first as Xayah, unless the enemies are completely out of position and I can punish them for it.

^ This goes the same with Rakan, since you want to wait for him to CC.

You should play overall safer when you are not playing with a Rakan, since you cannot rely on his same peeling potential when playing with you.

For maximum damage potential with Xayah not playing with Rakan is to actually start your fight with Double Daggers into a auto attack into a Bladecaller, this should lead into a automatic root unless the enemy ADC or support dodges it with mobility. After they are rooted you can finally activate Deadly Plumage and start auto attacking while they are CC'ed from your root or if they are chain CC'ed.

^ That is because usually you want to rely on your own CC, and guarantee as many auto attacks as you can with your Deadly Plumage since most of your damage comes from there.

After level 6 you can start using your ultimate aggressively or passively depending on the situation. Usually when using it aggressively you want to start with Double Daggers into a Featherstorm swiftly to cancel animations and place as many feathers behind the enemy as possible.

^ Always watch your feathers and positioning of the ADC, a lot of your burst is from Bladecaller

Teamfighting

When teamfighting as Xayah the same targeting rules apply to her as to any other Marksman. You always hit the person you are in range of, based on priority. Depending on who the enemy champions are the priority is different.

Target Priority: Twitch > Nami > Orianna > Xin Zhao > Malphite

^Of course if you cannot get in range of the first priority then you target whoever you are in range of. There are also other situations for example if a Zed ults you, you will probably switch focus onto him instead of the support semi close to you.

Always keep your eye out for important abilities that the enemies are throwing for you and analyze what you really need to Featherstorm.

^that is important because if you use it aggressively in the wrong time the enemy team could punish you. A good example of this would be if you were to use your ultimate early, and the enemy Varus still has ultimate up, it is an easy Chain of Corruption for him.

You also need to look for roots and keep an eye on your feathers as Xayah because they are an important part of your utility and burst damage. Your team will generally go in on a target who is rooted. Usually your lane combos aren't as important anymore but you can still use them, though that would need the perfect condition.

Xayah can output a lot of damage similar to a hypercarry like Twitch, though she lacks the aoe. Killing priority targets is important for you, because you do a decent amount of single target damage.

Your feathers have arrows pointing towards where you're standing, and will show the direction in which they return, keeping this in mind and having muscle memory of where they go as you flash is also important to hitting as many roots or feathers as possible.

^ Don't be afraid to use both Feathrstorm and Flash to get away from damage, OR to deal damage. You can also flash towards the end of Featherstorm's animation to surprise the enemies and place the feathers behind them.
