depending on your matchup go in level 1 and get some serious damage off with q aa q aa q aa
at level 3 you should get a huge spike because you should have a point in your q w and e. once you hit level 6 you can easly kill your laning parter unless you are against a counter.

riven is a teamfighter. stay with the team unless your laning parter is splitting top. riven is really good in teamfights because of her ult. it gives her a lot of aoe damage for a toplaner and a nice ult flash stun will be a great engage. when activating your ult remeber that all of your abilities have increased ranged. so your stun and knockup has a much larger range.

animation cancel is the reason why riven is so hard to master. you can cancel animations as riven in a lot of different ways. if you want to master riven then i recommend you learn how to do the basic cancels with riven. for example if you e w. the animation of the will cancel. the reason why i told you to always build hydras is it also cancels. u can use the active on your hydras to cancel some of rivens abilities
