WHY AP GNAR?
Ap Gnar plays quite similar to regular gnar, but with the more specialized 3 hit passive burst. While you tend to be a bit squishier, the reliability of the W passive makes the teemo-esque statchecky playstyle very effective. I wouldn't advise solely playing AP Gnar, as AD Gnar tends to be slightly more effective over a large sample size of games, But the higher-damage playstyle is definitely a big upside in a lot of situations.
WHAT DOES AP GNAR DO DIFFERENTLY?
AP Gnar trades the overwhelming power of Mega Gnar for a more streamlined playstyle. You rely on the ridiculous base stats of Mega Gnar to most of your gold into statdumping people to death before you become the teamfight menace that Mega Gnar is. Mega Gnar is more than strong enough to coast off of a single tank item, and the insane 150% AP ratio on the wallslam ult makes the entire build on par in teamfights as the regular build.
WHERE DOES AP GNAR FALL SHORT?
AP Gnar is not a direct upgrade. You are trading the reliability of Titanic Hydra and the usual AD items for a higher damage alternative. AP Gnar also struggles with waveclear at first, but any item such as Hollow Radiance or Statik Shiv fixes that problem quickly.
