Items
Doran's Blade is the reason I call this build "Twisted Start". For an AP carry, you are starting off with a very large amount of attack damage, which will help you harass the enemy like crazy. The passive is also excellent, giving you much sustain and less a need to back. And who can beat extra starting health? (it makes you look more intimidating). |
The Boots are nesessary if you like to chase enemies or run from enemies. It also helps you dodge enemy skill-shots and position for your own skill-shots faster. |
Rushing a Sheen is critical, as it will allow Mystic Shot to deal an extra 100 or so damage while you have it. this allows you to be extra harassy, and most squishy AP carries wont see the large burst coming. Plus, having extra mana and the ability power will help you in the long run.

Upgrade your boots now so that you have movement speed. Sorcerer's Shoes are the best boots you can get for AP Ezreal, because you will be able to dish out more damage mid-late game. Later, upgrade with enchancement: furor to have have more hit-and-run potential with your abilities. |
The most important Item you can get for AP Ezreal is Lich Bane. Every time you use your Mystic Shot, it will deal 50 magic damage plus 75% of your AP. As Mystic Shot already has a 20% AP ratio (25% if you include the
Spellsword
mastery), you will deal 100% of your ability power with this ability. (for more information, see "Abilities") |
Rabadon's Deathcap is the next item to get because of the massive amount of damage you will be able to deal with it from long range. The extra 30% of AP that it grants you will allow you to burst down a melee minion with one Mystic Shot (that is, if you have kept up with your farm).

I get Rod of Ages next because of the health it provides. getting this item will make it harder for enemies to burst you down if you happen to be out of position. It also helps your next item, Zhonya's Hourglass to be more effective. |
Zhonya's Hourglass is an amazing item for any AP carry. The armor helps to defend from the adc's poke, the ability power is massive, and the active is amazing if used correctly. |
The final item for AP Ezreal is the Void Staff. Its anti magic resist powers are unmatched, making it very effective against the tanks and bruisers that will be on the front lines.
