Introduction

What's up, ladies and gentlemen? I'm here with an Amumu build for Dominion.

In my opinion, Amumu is fantastic on Dominion. Why? AP Amumu has scary burst with his manly Bandage Toss and Despair. His Tantrum is a nice finisher.

Amumu is normally a tank. But standard builds are for dweebs. AP Amumu's the new OP. (NOT)

Amumu's Lore

Perhaps one of the oddest champions in the League of Legends is the Yordle known as Amumu. His life before joining the League remains unknown... especially to Amumu. All he remembers is that he woke up alone inside a pyramid within the Shurima Desert. He was entwined in mummy wrappings and he could not feel his heart beat. Furthermore, he felt a deep sadness that he could not entirely explain; he knew he missed his parents, though he could not remember who they were. Dropping to his knees, Amumu wept into his bandages. No matter what he did, it seemed he could never stop his tears or sadness. Eventually he stood up, determined to wander the world to discover his past. Amumu traveled all across southern Valoran - a feat that is not easily dismissed.

While Amumu still hasn't learned much about his past, he has learned a great deal about who he has become. He is most assuredly undead, though he harbors none of the evil characteristics typical of undead beings. He also seems to keep trouble at arm's length; Amumu was able to traverse all of Southern Valoran without so much as a single bad thing happening to him. He was just sad, and the people and beings he encountered eventually shared his sadness. Ultimately, he made his way north across the Great Barrier to the Institute of War, the home of the League. Amumu's story was compelling to the summoners he met there, and they invited him to take part in a League Judgment. His success within the League as a champion has given Amumu something he desired: a home. With his present (un)life secured, he now hopes the friends he has made will help him discover his past.

"Things are bad when Amumu is crying, but they're much worse when he's angry."

Pros / Cons

PROS:
-Your burst is SICKENING with 1:1 AP on Bandage Toss
-You can pick people off with Despair.
-Your ultimate, Curse of the Sad Mummy will MELT squishies with your AP.
- Tantrum is a nice, solid adition to your burst.
- Bandage Toss juking is adorable.
-Free Flash with Bandage Toss (If you're lucky).
-Some of the best skins in the game.

CONS:
-Squishier than usual.
-Your sustainability definitely suffers. But your damage compensates for that, IMO.
-No Flash lowers your escapability by a huge amount, although Ghost > Flash in Dominion, IMO.
-People will hate you (Is that a con?).

Runes and Masteries.

AP Runes with Magic Pen runes. Speaks for itself, in my opinion. :>

For masteries, I like to use 9/0/21. Pick up Archaic Knowledge and extra AP, Crit Chance and CD reduction in offense, and boost your survivability with the Utility tree's interesting capabilities.

I've been experimenting with 21/9/0, and it works as well, but you won't have Ghost or Flash to save your arse in many cases.

Items

This is my preffered build. In this order. Why? It mixes AP with slight AD and allows you to amplify their burst damage and slow them.

Lich Bane: Fantastic AP item, IMO. The magic resist is nice, the AP count (80!) is fairly solid for the stage of the game. Also has a smexeh passive that helps you survive 1v1 fights.

Sorcerer's Shoes: Magic Pen and +2 Movement. Mercury's Threads aren't needed, Ionian Boots of Lucidity could work with the CDR.

Moonflair Spellblade: This replaces your Mercury's Threads. Why? It gives 50 AP, and some Tenacity. Perfect item in sticky situations, although it could be replaced with Morello's Evil Tome, but this is what I prefer.

Rabadon's Deathcap: The heaviest, dirtiest and most disgustingly sick item on any AP character. This gives you an insane AP boost PLUS 30% of your AP after that boost! This will cause you to deal even MORE damage! OH EM GEE!

Hextech Gunblade: Could be replaced with Will of the Ancients, but I prefer this one for it's spell vamp and AD with life steal. Also, it's extra slowing nuke blast is pretty awesome too.

Deathfire Grasp: COULD be grabbed earlier, and I'm not putting COULD in all caps because I want to look cool, but to emphasize it. You COULD get it earlier, but you would have to get your Lich Bane later, and you'd have to start out with Kage's Lucky Pick, Boots and some Health Potions... Still nice, but I prefer the other way around.

Summoner Spells

Why those?

Ghost: Escape, map crosser, all round baller spell. Haste is awesome.

Garrison: FAN-TAS-TIC. Defending, tower diving, it's all easier. It's an amazing spell, especially for AP Amumu, who has very few HP compared to his big, and more popular brother, Tank Amumu.

Skill Sequence

Bandage Toss: Your bread and butter playing AP Amumu. 100% AP scaling. It's sickening. It has a build in stun. It'll deal +/- 700 damage with all your items.

Curse of the Sad Mummy: A-MA-ZING ultimate! AoE Snare, has 100% AP scaling and deals
600/700-ish damage with the full item build. Squishy goes BOOM!

Despair: Allows you some AoE damage. It's good, not much special here. 1% AP scaling, so it's not all that fantastic, IMO, but better than Tantrum.

Tantrum: 50% AP scaling. Nice, good part of your burst, but it's outshined by Bandage Toss' burst, Curse of the Sad Mummy's utility and Despair's sustained DPS.

PHINNISH EET!

This part here "wraps up" my Amumu guide (C wut I did thar?). Just a few things to keep in mind: This build is NOT perfect. And I will change it how I see fit, depending how I feel over items and skills.

Hope you have fun with our sad, sad little mummy. Gl, hf.

11/11/11: Build published.
11/16/11: Updated masteries. :> Have fun with them.
