ABOUT ME
PRIMARY TREE AGAINST AP
No matter what your Sona playstyle is I think you should go for these runes in the primary tree if you're up against AP champions in lane. The secondary tree has a couple of options depending on the situation.

PRIMARY TREE AGAINST AD
I find it hard to sustain in lane against AD champions with poke like talon and zed so picking up grasp is the best solution in my opinion since your w consumes so much mana early and scaling HP is vital if you wanna go down deal damage yet live long enough in fights to actually do something.

SORCERY OPTION (If you decide to start Dorans Shield)
INSPIRATION OPTION (If you find it hard to farm)
Minion dematerializer helps when the second cannon wave comes in, since you're probably going to be farming under turret which is hard, use it on cannon minions to freeze your lane till the next cannon wave comes in.

Why Sona mid?
Sona mid is a very risky pick, especially in high elo due to the weak early and low mobility. After playing so much sona support I realized that my late is really good but I could complete my build before the game is over, so I tried playing sona mid in season 4 and I was shocked at how much I could actually do. Playing sona mid enables you to finish your build faster and be useful.
Do you build tear?
I used to build tear then I stopped since the nature of the games has changed in LoL, over the past couple of years I've realized that games tend to end faster so building tear isn't really useful especially when you have barrier. Tear kinda sucks if you wanna be useful mid game.
I can't farm under tower, how do you do it?
Playing Sona a lot you get used to how she works as a champion and her aa and q, try to concentrate and see what you're doing wrong and how the minions are positions under tower. For example the closer the minions are to the tower the less damage it does to them so if a minion is at full health let the turret hit it twice then aa or q. If the minion is a bit far hit it with an aa let the turret land one shot then finish it off with another aa. These skills are vital and gained when you play enough of a champion. Not giving up is the key to success.
