This is a horrible match up for Crit Master Garen, because of the range Jayce has. Pray to whoever or whatever you believe in that you don't get him in your lane, but if you do, stay under tower. With the 9.14 patch Jayce was nerfed, but still be careful, he has range!
Darius
Ban him. Just ban him every time. He can easily out damage Garen in level 2+. Darius can easily put you out of the game, which is horrible for this build.
Renekton
Renekton has a stronger early game than you around level 2+ until you get your first Cloak of Agility or possibly even Infinty Edge. Just don't feed him early and try to survive till late game. You will eventually out damage him and be able to kill him.
Aatrox
Just avoid the dark areas of his Q, and you can win easily. Run if he ults unless you have ult and he is already low.
Akali
This is an easy match up, Akali is an assassin, so she is squishy. You can easily just out damage her from the start. If she shrouds, stand in the middle and just spin around, you will eventually hit her.
Cho'Gath
This match up can go either way. Just avoid his Rupture and try to dodge his scream, and you should be fine to trade, just don't no near him if you are low unless you saw him eat a minion in the last 50 seconds.
Dr. Mundo
This match up can be pertty easy if you dodge his cleavers. Try to bait out his ult, or burst him down to kill him with your ult before he can press R for the HP regen.
Fiora
This match up is more skill than anything. Try to bait out her W so she can't stun you. If she ults you slam one of the vitals into a wall so she can't heal from it.
Gangplank
To win this just avoid his barrels. However, try to bait out his oranges before going to ult Gangplank. because he can survive if he heals at the right time.
Illaoi
Sit behind minions and try to avoid her pull. Try to destroy her tentacles and just farm.
Irelia
This is an easy match up. If you are about to get stunned, press W for the cc reduction and extra damage reduction. After her stun, you can just Q her and start spinning on her.
Kayle
This match up is really easy. After her rework her early game is horrible compared to Garen's. Just try to Q her when you have the chance and if she is pushed up, you can easily kill her. Just be careful if you are going to tower dive, because she might ult herself and stall, so try to bait out her ultimate.
Kled
This is a skill match up. You HAVE to run from his bear trap, otherwise you will take a lot of damage from his combo. Kleds early game is better than Garens in this build. If you can manage to get Kled off of Skaarl, don't let him poke you, and try to get him low enough to ult Kled. NEVER ULT SKAARL!
Maokai
Maokai is a tank, and doesn't do enough damage to Garen that he can't heal through his passive. Just farm, you will eventually be able to kill him.
Nasus
You can stomp him early game, so try to stop him from getting stacks and try to put him out of the game entirely. If he does get stacks, farm hard until you have you 2nd Infinity Edge, then try to kill him if he has a lot of damage. If he ults any time in lane or out, run away from him.
Olaf
Dodge his Q (the axe throw that slows) and you can win. Just be careful of his W and the attack speed + life steal from it.
Ornn
Mid to late game, Ornn wont die very much or very often unless you have a Vayne on your team. Try not to focus Ornn in team fights, and just run past him. Early game he can be killed, just be careful of his high early damage from his Brittle.
Poppy
You can easily kill her early. Try to stomp on her projectile that gives her shield, and try to avoid the second part of her Q.
Quinn
Pray to everything you can that you don't get a Quinn in your game. Quinn has so much range you will never be able to get on top of her. If you do manage to get on top of her, she can kick away, hit you with her empowered auto from her passive, and blind you to do the same.
Riven
This is a skill match up for sure. Things will be a lot tougher if she knows what she is doing. The only real way to beat her is just to play really smart and farm under tower until you get an Infinity Edge. Riven also has a lot of engage and disengage, so try to fight her when she doesn't have her Q up or her E up for a shield and a dash.
Rumble
You can very easily win this match up. If you can get on top of Rumble you can easily kill him because he doesn't have much disengage unless he has Rylais. The best time to fight Rumble is when he is overheating, and can only auto attack.
Ryze
Ryze is a very mechanically skilled champion. If the Ryze player has no clue what they are doing, you will stomp them. Outside of Phase Rush, the only way for Ryze to disengage is his root, so try to predict the root and press W to reduce how long you are rooted, and you might be able to catch up to him.
Sion
Trade with Sion every now and then. After a trade, focus on farming and healing back up with your passive. Be careful around bushes, they can make his Q invisible. When trading like this, you are either going to make him recall or die. If he does die, use your Q to run away while pressing W.
Sylas
This is an easy match up. Just try to avoid his poke and he will run out of mana. Just be careful when you are low and he is level 6. You will easily be able to kill him though, and only gets easier as you get black cleaver and your Infinity Edges.
Tahm Kench
Try to farm until you get Black Cleaver, and try to dodge his Q ( the one where he sends his tongue out far) and W as you get hit a third time so you take less damage from his eat and/or stunned from his Q.
Teemo
Normally, Teemo would be a problem, but this build focus on Garen's E, which is an ability, not an auto attack like his Q. Try to bait out his blinding dart, and you will be able to deal more damage. Another thing you can do is take the blinding dart after running at him with your Q on, then start spinning on him, cancel your E, then Q him and run.
Trundle
You can win this depending on how you play it. Only fight him after he uses his hard hitting bite, and run away from his Frozen Domain, that way its more of a fair fight. If you get ulted by Trundle (in which case you will become smaller) start running.
Tryndamere
Bait how his slow, heal, and fight him when he just used his dash. Try to stop him from csing, but also try not to get hit. If he ults, don't use your ult, and just start running and stalling, and if he stays, use your ult to finish him off just in case. Getting a bramble vest early will also help, but you WILL have to sell it afterwards.
Urgot
You can win this match up a lot easier before he gets 9, where he gets his W toggle. You can still beat him after level 9, you just have to play it right and trade, but not all in until he is missing HP. You also need to try to dodge his ult, so always be moving around. Try to get Black Cleaver and Ninja Tabi as fast as possible.
Vayne
Just hope she doesn't get picked, other wise you will have a bad time no matter what. To beat Vayne you will have to surprise her when her E is down so she can't knock you away,
Vladimir
You can beat him before he gets a few points into his Q. You can get an executioner's calling to make laning easier, but you will have to sell it later on. Try to farm a lot and not go for kills because of his puddle. Getting an early pair of Mercury Treads will help.
Volibear
Fighting Volibear is interesting. You will want to take ignite and grab an executioner's calling. Trading will be hard, considering he can flip you and fear you. Try to predict when he is going to fear and W it. The best way to trade with him is get him low enough to pop his passive.
Yasuo
Yas plays right into you and you should win this pretty easily. Try to avoid his Q and try to stop him from farming. If Yasuo wants to trade with you, you can just run up to him with your Q then start spinning. He can only dash towards you, and his wind wall is useless. Just get Ninja Tabi and you will be fine.
Yorick
Don't fight him. if he walls you in, W to take less damage and break it as fast as possible. Just focus on farming and a ninja tabi.
Zed
This match up will be really easy after you get Black Cleaver. Zed is a melee assassin, so he has to get on top of you, which works great for you. Ninja Tabi will help.
Gnar
Be careful of his poke and his boomerang. You can trade easily with his mega form. Be careful of his ult, and his move speed.
Jarvan IV
Jarvan can ult them and keep them in an area thats the size of your spin.
Yorick
Same as Jarvan. Yorick can cage them and you can spin on them and kill them.
Nautilus
Nautilus can lock them down and knock up an entire team if he ulted the right person.

A little proof that the build works well. My win rate
Crit Master Garen Overview
Garen is possibly one of my favorite champs in the game to do this build with. Normally, Garen would build a more tank oriented build with only slight damage. This build is meant for heavy damage, especially his Judgment. This build does take time to scale, but is still insane throughout most of the game. Garen is also a really strong champion because of his out of combat healing from his Perseverance, his silence and speed boost from Decisive Strike, his built in tank ability Courage, and his execution ultimate, Demacian Justice.
Perseverance
Perseverance is one of the few things that make almost everyone hate Garen. The best way to use Garen's passive is to start trading with a person, do some damage to them, then run back to the back of your minion wave, a bush, or your tower. When not being damaged by an enemy champion, Garen heals for a percent of his max HP. His passive healing increases when he is below 25% HP. One thing that you could do is if you are getting chased by the enemy jungler, you can escape long enough for your passive to kick in and heal up, then win the fight. Damage from minions does not stop the healing from Perseverance
Decisive Strike
Decisive Strike is a key thing for normal Garen, and would normally be the main source of damage. Decisive Strike purges all slows, and grants him 30% move speed for 1.5 seconds to 3.5 seconds (depending on rank). After using Decisive Strike, the next attack within 4.5 seconds deals 30 to 150 damage (depending on rank) +140% of your Attack Damage. However, for the Crit Master Garen build, you will mainly use it for move speed, but if you can get onto their adc or any squishy, it can potentially half health them.
Courage
Courage gives Garen natural tank, which helps make this work. Garen increases his magic resist and armor by last hitting minions or killing champions. Each time Garen kills a unit, he gains 0.33 magic resist and armor, all the way up to 50 armor and magic resist. Activating Courage gives Garen 60% Tenacity and takes 60% less damage for 0.75 seconds, then takes 30% less damage for the remaining time. The damage reduction can last from 2 seconds to 5 seconds, depending on the rank.
Judgment
Judgment is Crit Master Garen's main source of damage. Garen starts spinning his sword around him, dealing 14 to 30 damage per spin + 36 to 40% of Garen's AD (based off of rank). Adding more points to Judgment increases the amount of times Garen can spin. If an enemy is damaged 4 times by Judgment, their armor is reduced by 25%, stacking with Black Cleavers passive armor shred. Judgment also does 33% more damage to singular targets, and can also crit for bonus damage, which is why Crit Master Garen works overall.
Demacian Justice
Demacian Justice is Garen's R, and is an execute, and does increased damage based on the amount of heath the enemy is missing. When you put the first point into Demacian Justice and an enemy gets a kill, they are selected as the Villain, causing your auto attacks and Judgment to do 1% of max hp as true damage. When you use your ult on an enemy champion, it does 175+28% damage, and does true damage to the Villain if you use it on them. Rank 2 the ult does 350+33% of missing HP, and rank 3 does 525+40% of missing health.
Runes
I've tried this build with a few different runes like Dark Harvest and Electrocute. but they don't help nearly as well as Hail of Blades. Hail of Blades helps so much early game, because you can Q at level 1, then get three quick auto attacks in for more damage. Taste of Blood and Ravenous Hunter help with sustain, and Eyeball Collection is the best rune out of the three options available. Triumph helps with buying items faster, and can help you survive a fight and an Ignite. Coup de Grace helps to kill people even faster and make trades easier.
Press the Attack is a rune I recently found out works well with this build. If Press the Attack procs, your spin will do at least 250 bonus damage depending on the enemies armor. The best way to get Press the Attack to go off is with Auto Attack -> Auto Attack -> Decisive Strike.
Items
The items look like they wouldn't work, but they work insanely well with Garen. Black Cleaver helps give Garen some HP, cooldown reduction, and the most important thing, armor shredding. The armor reduction from Black Cleaver stacks with Garen's Judgment passive. The Ninja Tabi or Mercury's Treads help with damage from the enemy team, The four Infinity Edges work insanely well with Judgment, which does extra damage if it crits, and scales off of Attack Damage.
Laning Phase
The start of Garen's laning phase is usually fairly easy, but can be horrible depending on some match ups, which can cost Garen everything. You can trade at level 1 with Decisive Strike and Hail of Blades, but don't forget to cs. You can still trade at level 2, but you should wait for level 3 for Courage. It is best that you try to get a solo kill before level 6, so you can start snowballing. The faster you can get Black Cleaver The better. By the end of laning phase, it is best that you have Ninja Tabi or Mercury's Treads, a Black Cleaver, and a Cloak of Agility. If you have more than that, the better.
Mid game and team fighting
Mid game you can do a couple of things. You can split push and get more gold from towers and minions, or you can team fight. If you decide to start team fighting, you should have 1 Infinity Edge after a fight or a few kills, possibly even working on your second. In team fighting, you want to try to kill their front line, focus the Villain, or dive their back line or ADC. Try not to fight in the jungle, where there are a lot of walls and bushes. The best place to have a team fight would be mid lane where there aren't many bushes for them to hide in, or many places to hide from. By the end of the mid game, you should have your second Infinity Edge and have a Cloak of Agility and possibly even a B. F. Sword.
Late game
Late game your team is either about to win the game, or lose. If your team is about to lose, you can change how the match ends. You HAVE to kill their carry, Villain or not. If you kill their carry, and your team wins the team fight, you could get your third Infinity Edge and get Baron Nashor. At this point, you shred towers even with your auto attacks. If your team doesn't end in time, you are going to have another team fight, so do the same thing as last time, and dive their main carry, and ult them if you have to. If the game goes on long enough, you might be able to get the very elusive fourth Infinity Edge. If the teams can fit in another team fight, you should be able to shred anyone that isn't a heavy armor stacking tank like Malphite or Ornn.
Thank you!
Again, this was my first Mobafire guide, and advice is wanted and supported! I hope you learned a lot from this Crit Master Garen guide, and bring glory to Demacia!
I DID NOT MAKE THIS GAREN BUILD BY MYSELF. I had help from my friend Stone_Arso, and his AD Cho'Gath build inspired me, so check it out if you want another juggernaut to carry with. AD Cho'Gath Guide
