Why Rumble?

Rumble is a high sustained damage champion with great lane presence. He uses no mana but at the cost of overheating after hitting 100 heat.

Rumble’s Advantages are that he can easily push in lanes to provide lane pressure and great roaming ganks. He is a great team fight champion, he has great engage and peel with the use of a good The Equalizer. He has great consistent AOE damage. Plus he burn things, who doesn’t like to watch things melt

Rumbles Disadvantages are that he has poor mobility so susceptible to early ganks. You want to be pushing lane a lot so this puts you in a rocky situation if you’re not aware of where the enemy jungle is. Last hitting on rumble may take a while to get use to with the use of Q. Overheating on Rumble can become quite problematic if you’re not careful. Overheating at the wrong point can make or break a fight

PROS:
-High sustained damage.
-Non-mana User[ color]
-Great lane pressure and kill potential[ color]
-Great team fights[ color]
-Can easily push lane and roam for map pressure[ color]

CONS:
-Slow Movement speed, easily kited
-Hard to last hit if not used to his Q
Poor Mobility
Passive Junkyard Titan will take a while to get used to

Runes

Sorcery - Comet +Domination
- This rune has great synergy with . The increased damage and slow increases the chance for comet to hit. Comet is for early/mid game it scales poorly into late game.
- My personal favourite rune in this tree. It helps with rumbles lack of mobility and is also great for all in kills and team fight positioning. This can be changed for but is a very niche rune, however great is the enemy team has 2+ magic damage champions.

- This synergises well with Scrap Shield to help deal bonus damage in short trades. After the clerity nerfs in patch 8.12 has been my preferred rune choice in this tree. This provides more early game damage and poke potentially.

- Scorch is great for early game poking however is also a very viable option and allows rumble to scale better into the late game (if the game lasts more then 30 mins)

See 2nd tress details below
Domination

– you have two abilities with slows Electro-Harpoon and The Equalizer both big slows and if you take Rylai's Crystal Scepter you will always deal bonus damage to the enemies.

– This rune is great if you are able to roam and get stacks. Provides you with a very short CD on The Equalizer

Resolve
Resolve can be taken as the 2nd rune tree vs lane bullies/ poke heavy champs.
- Take this rune against lane bullies like Darius Renekton who focus on quick short burst trades.
– Still playing around with this rune, will update once I have played with it more.
- Take this rune into tanks. The bonus will not be great until mid/late game however is a great payoff.

Domination –Dark Harvest +Inspiration
As of patch 8.23 this is my go to rune page in 9/10 matchups. Dark Harvest synergises so well with rumbles kit. The Domination tree has a lot of flexibility to your play style as well.

– Getting a champ below 50% hp adds extra burst damage and resets to 1.5secs on a kill. This with Q and ulti can make for a devastating combo.
– In this tree you have the option to go for Cheap Shot for more damage, however I have personally been liking the extra sustain in lane
- simple rune, gain more damage as you are pro active on the map
–This is similar to Taste of Blood I currently take this for more sustain however Ultimate Hunter is another great option for rumble

For your 2nd runes, I pick between the Inspiration tree and resolved. You can see the resolve options above and when/ why I take them.

- Free boots, this allows you to hit your early game power spikes early in the game. Perfect Timing is also another great option in this tree
– CDR CDR and more CDR, what else can rumble as for?

Summoner Spells

Summoner Spells

Flash: Is a great Get Out of Jail Free card. Definitely the best Summoner spell choice on urgot. Great to combo with E also to escape from them pesky ganks.

Ignite: Since the TP nerfs in recent patches i have taken a big liking to ignite. It provides you with early game kill pressure. It also have great drawbacks. It can cause you to gain a lot of unwanted jungle pressure and one bad trade early can cost you the lane

Teleport: Despite the nerfs in the recent patch its still very viable top lane. It allows split push pressure and Tp plays into the bot side of the map. However the nerfs have allowed other summoner spells top lane to become viable. So make sure to see waht your other laner is running! If they have a aggressive summoner call some jungle pressure.

Abilities

Junkyard Titan (Passive): Its very important to manage your heat, being above 50 heat gives you 50% more damage on your Q and E, it also empowers your shield. Be very mindful of your current heat as overheating during a team fight can make or break the fight for you.
Flamespitter (Q): AKA flame thrower. This is a coned AOE ability scaling with AP. This is you main bullying/zoning tool in lane. This should almost always be maxed first. Also great to shove in your waves fast and roam to apply map pressure
scrap shield (W): This is your only defensive/ mobility skill. Use this to engage with Celerity for extra damage. If you are been heavily poked during lane consider maxing this 2nd
Electro-harpoon (E):This is a ranged poke tool. It almost provides a stackable slow which provides a great engage/kite tool. You are able to take advantage of Cheap Shots bonus damage
The Equalizer (R): This in my opinion one of the best team fighting ultimate’s in the game. This may take some practice getting used to how to place so be sure to try it in the practice tool before going into game! It has extremely long range so you can engage a fight from far out or join a fight late and clean up. Placements of this skill will make or break the team fight. Wait for people’s mobility/ flashes to be used before placing if possible. Great for the skirmishes in the jungle/ confined places

Items

DORANS'SHIELD: This is a great starting item on rumble and taken 9/10 match ups but dependant on your opponent. It is most effect vs ranged champions or poke heavy champions such as Yasuo Fiora Kennen. The additional damage to minions helps with last hitting with auto attacks and saves using abilities for trades/ pushing the lane. If your feeling confident you can take Amplifying Tome

LIANDRY’S TORMENT: Rush this item asap unless they have a lot o healing rush Morellonomicon. The extra damage over time and % hp on this item synergise really well with rumble Q and R. Best vs high HP champions. Extra burn on top of burn, hmmm
MORELLONOMICON: Since the rework this is a great AP item in general. If the enemy team has lots of healing ( Soraka/ Fiora/ Garen/ Darius) take this item first.
SORCERER’S SHOES: This provides movement speed + magic pen. If you are been ganked a lot or in a lane were you need more mobility rush these first item. If not always take them 2nd. First item + boots is a power spike for rumble. If there a heavy AD team consider taking ninja tabi’s OPOP
ZHONYA’S HOURGLASS: Flamespitter will still be cast during Zhonya’s. This is a great tool for baiting out a fight and still been able to put out damage.
VOID STAFF: If the enemy team is stacking MR this is by far the best item. However if they are not stacking much MR consider taking another item here.
[/table]
RABADON’S DEATHCAP: finalise your build with more damage. If the game ever lasts 5/6th item you will dish out so much damage once deathcap is complete.
Situational items
RYLAI’S CRYSTAL SCEPTER: I still think this is one of the most cost efficient items in game however it is very situational. Great if you need to kite opponents also grants 100% up time on Liandry's Torment passive
BANSHEE’S VEIL: Take this if the enemy has a lot of MR damage or long range poke/cc
SHURELYA’S REVERIE: More for fun and if your ahead. Great for chasing down your opponents.

Laning Phase

During laning phase you want to focus on farming and denying as much farm as possible with Flamespitter. You want to be passive aggressive during this time, every opportunity you get poke them. Each time they go into last hit you want to punish them with Q and back off with W and keep trading like this until low HP then all in.

Rumble can easily push in the lane and roam or just force pressure on the opponent under tower. Be very mindful when pushing in the wave as it makes you very easy to gank. Ensure you have the correct vision/ knowledge of enemy jungler before pushing the lane hard.

At level 6 Rumble is a huge threat. At this point you can look to hard shove your lane and roam to help other lane. Play around your ultimate let your team know when it’s down and how long until its back up. Once up you want to be forcing them team fights
Full Rumble Vs Vayne Game play. More to come!

General Points

This is not specifically to do with any champ but it will help with overall game play.
Ward!
Objective control is key. Buy control wards on every return if you have the gold left over. (try to back with enough gold for item + pink) Not only does it help you out but your other lanes keep track of enemy players.

Pings
Ping for anything and everything. Set up your hotkeys so they're easy to use. If you have pinged for anything, ping it again after 20-30 seconds if things haven't changed. DO NOT SPAM PING unless it is urgent You won't be annoying your team, they'll be grateful of the information.

Don’t Flame
We have all been there and sometimes it is hard to resist. Own up for your own mistakes and if chat gets too much /mute all concentrate on your own game play. Try to stay positive in chat, you are not going to win the game by been abusive in game. That will only cause people to troll/ int even more.

Check the Map
I laughed at myself for even putting this here. I am a sucker for punishment and always forget to check the map before making a play/ engaging. This very easy to overlook but check the map every 20-30 seconds to see any missing players or any potential opportunities incoming. I actually started to use a ping sound alert every 10 seconds to remind me to check the map.

Know Your Capabilities!
Knowing your abilities is all well and good but knowing how they match up against each opponent can be tricky. Test the waters. Each time they come back from base with new items, just attempt another auto-attack or 2 to see how the damage is different. If unsure just farm safely and wait for ganks/ misplays

CS
I cannot stress enough how important knowing how to CS is. Practise daily and improve in a custom game. You want to be aiming to get 8cs per min each game. Do not be afraid to give up CS if it means you not taking a bad trade. Check stats tools to see where your weakest csing times are and try to improve.

Replays
If you really want to improve, watch your replays. Look at what YOU could of done better that game and look for your mistakes. Watch high elo players VODS of the match ups your unsure of learn from them.

CS challenge
A fun challenge for you to improve your cs/ wave manipulation. Go into a custom game and try to hit 100 CS without missing a single one
Rules:
  1. Do not use any abilities (Don’t skill them)
  2. Only buy starting items
  3. Do not go back/die
  4. Has to be in a custom game NOT practice tool

If you manage this let me know would love to see how many people manage to do this and if it helped them during games.
