Garen is an easy champion. He is fun to play, very cheap, and pretty strong. He just got buffed in Patch 8.10, which buffed his damage in his kit by a decent amount. The cool thing about Garen is that you can build lethality on him and still have 100+ armor and magic resist due to his W. (Which passively gives you armor and magic resist for killing a unit. Stacking up to 40). You can also build tank on him and just spin like a ballerina in the middle of their team like a boss.

My favorite runes are: Predator and Conqueror. But I do better with predator since you can affect other lanes if they are feeding. You can also use it as a "teleport" to go back to lane. Cheap Shot since silencing them and E on their faces procs cheap shot. Zombie ward since everything else is trash. Ingenious Hunter for your predator boots and ghostblade. Your second tree will be sorcery since going to inspiration is dumb and then health you get from resolve got "nerfed" and it pretty trash now. Get transcendence since you get a lot of CDR in your build. and Scorch for your Q poke.

If you are Gold or below, the best build on Garen is lethality. There is nothing more satisfying on Garen than dealing 75% of their hp in a single Q. A lot of Garen mains say lethality is not very strong like it used to be since they removed old runes. But if you are gold and below, people don't know how to deal with lethality. You should only build lethality however, if your enemy has 100 armor below. Building lethality against 200 armor is dumb, just build cleaver first. If you are in one of those moments, when your support picks brand or annie, build tank. If your team has no tanks, build tank. If your behind agaisnt your enemy toplaner, build tank. Pros + Low-elo beast + Easy champion + Satisfying ulti + You get to watch your enemies standing around when you use Decisive Strike

Cons - Low mobility - Prone to ganks - Pretty useless when behind - Easily countered with poke champions - You get called "noob" since you're using Garen

Garen's laning phase is as simple as it gets. You farm, get your first few items. Then trade, Q, E, then W their CC or main damage. Do this over and over again till they make a mistake then kill them with your ult. After killing them, push the wave then back. If you are behind, call for ganks them if you kill the enemy, talk trash to them so they tilt then as for more ganks after you kill the enemy over and over again, you are nor back in the game. If your jungler doesn't gank, roam mid with you predator then use your ulti to killsteal and take their farm. Don't care about them, farm then carry. If your botlane keeps getting killed, 5-manned, or just ints. Build Zz-rot if you are against AD top or banner of command if you are against AP top. Pressure their top lane as hard as you can but don't die. Try to say positive things or justmute them and carry the whole game since you can 1v3 when you have your core items.

Late-Game you are not very useful as midgame but do this to be effective: If you have tp and baron is up, split bot. If they see you splitting bot they most likely will do baron since low-elo players don't ping summoner spells. If elder is up and you have tp split top. Split bot if you have no tp and elder is up and vice versa for baron.
