Not Updated For Current Season
This guide has not yet been updated for the current season. Please keep this in mind while reading. You can see the most recently updated guides on the browse guides page
Just don't get his by his crit spot and you should be fine, take him down when he uses his ult unless at full health since he'll be slowed during revival.
Blitzcrank
People take him top for some reason (I do but shhh), just avoid getting hooked under his turret.
Urgot
He'll only poke you with AA or Q so just dodge the Q's and go in on him whenever you can.
Dr. Mundo
Get an Executioner's Calling or Thornmail to negate his healing.
Garen
Skill Matchup: Garen's E will reduce armor and Q just does a ton of damage. His Ult is an execute move like your's but without requiring stacks. If you're the villain don't be aggressive.
Darius
OMG DODGE HE'LL ONESHOT RUN AWAYYYYYYYYYYYY
Just kidding, whoever is better wins.
Malphite
Abuse early game, his Q does decent poke but costs high mana and he starts with low mana. His E can reduce Attack Speed so watch out for that.
Galio
Early game his Q costs high mana and isn't very good if he doesn't upgrade it but his engage is pretty strong if he can land his combo. Watch out for his E.
Nasus
Don't let him get stacks, poke with Q and pull him in whenever you'd like, his ult does put things in his favor unless he's already half hp with a stack or 2.
Trundle
Honestly just dodge, Trundle makes me cry sometimes. He's like Yorick but doesn't need ghouls or Zz'rot. He'll burst down tower so do protect them. He can usually win any trades. Don't let him get fed, don't trade in his domain and do not let him roam.
Gnar
Hard to fight him while he's ranged, wait till he becomes Giant and then try trading, dodge his W and you should be good.
Jax
DO NOT AA WHEN HIS E IS UP, it increases the damage. Other than his E, you should be able to take him down.
Ornn
Can craft items in lane besides pots, if he takes Corrupting Potion you need to poke him enough to force him to back. His trade is decent so play carefully but aggressive.
Wukong
Wukong can be annoying, whenever he's low he'll most likely just use his clone to get away, you need to predict where he's going if you want to kill him. Trade with caution.
Jayce
He can trade easily and engage easily with his Ult, which in reality is just turning his Cannon into a Hammer (Kind of like Jinx's Q). Get your jungler to help and hope that he picked a more cc based champ.
Rumble
Depends on how intelligent the Rumble is. Usually they'll abuse Flamethrower to get cs and poke, dodge the E (it has 2 charges) and go in when he's at full Heat (his bar will be Red). When above 50 heat avoid trading as his damage is basically doubled.
Volibear
He's got some good cc and will most likely engage whenever you're 50% or below. His W does more damage based on his health + your missing health.
Yorick
He can migate your trades with his Q since he'll be farming. Don't get stuck in his W or you'll be in for a world of hurt, early game his abilities cost him most of his mana so he'll be bringing corrupting. Try to get him to waste his mana.
Gangplank
Early game he'll be focused on poking you with his Q, try to engage before 6 since you'll have the upper hand. He can cleanse your W with his oranges which also heal based on missing health.
Amumu
His E gives him flat armor (up to 10) which isn't so bad. He has low mana and his main engage (Q - Bandage Toss) is easy to dodge. Avoid fighting when you're being ganked since he requires his team to help him out.
Cho'Gath
OM-NOM-NOM-NOM.
He does quite a bit of magic damage so prob best to get Spirit Visage. Mercury Treads if you prefer getting damage early.
Camille
She's really annoying to fight. Her ult forces you to be in a small arena with just her (and anyone else around), her Q does extra damage if she waits (the second hit) and her W heals her and slows if it's on the outer edge. Her E is her Engage/Disengage.
Pantheon
Well, he can block your auto's (including W), he can tower dive as he pleases and he makes sure you don't disgrace the art of war. When he tower dives you try to pull him in with your E, get rid of his shield with an auto, either Q or W depending on your health and you may or may not win.
Illaoi
This is Lucifier, Teemo is the devil and this is his daughter. When she pulls out your soul just run as fast as possible then dodge the tentacles.
Jarvan IV
When he ults it's basically over. He can dash towards you so try to E then engage on him.
Draven
Didn't think your bro would be top lane would you? I've seen this guy up here like, once or twice. He'll engage whenever since he most likely out damages you. He'll probably bring heal as well. Finally he can hit you even under turret since his AA is a projectile that take a second to hit.
Yasuo
Yasuo players are usually overconfident and will overestimate you. Once he has 100% crit it'll be way harder to fight him but you should still be able to win.
Swain
If he gets fed, you lose. If you get fed, he loses. He'll usually pull you in everytime he lands his root which means you pull him in. If you got 3 - 5 Stacks or if he's low health when he ults go ahead and engage.
Gragas
This fat *** will poke you to death with his Q which acts as his Engage/Disengage. He'll push you with his Ult either towards him or Away from him depending on his ult. Flash when this happens if needed.
Graves
Haven't seen a Graves since last season. From what I remember he has a pretty good engage with his W, Q combo. He'll dash towards you if attempting to run which gives him an additional bullet. Watch out for his Ultimate, it deals more damage if you're getting hit by the shell rather than the blast.
Kennen
This guy isn't played much but if you're against him, avoid fighting when he ults or has 2 stacks on you. His stun is decent and his damage is pretty good. Get a spirit visage if he's winning.
Hecarim
He practically needs his E in order to fight you. He'll either go tank or full movement speed. Once he engages you can practically destroy him Unless you're low health. Also don't fight him near many ally minions as he can heal with his W.
Master Yi
Like Kayn's Ult, Master Yi can avoid getting hit with his Q and since AA's reduce the cooldown of his Q you can expect him to win most fights Mid-Late game. Early game he isn't too much of a threat so feel free to fight him. E when he's meditating to cancel it.
Kled
Holy ****! It's Kled! He does decent damage and will most likely get skarll mid fight. Try getting the Jungler's help but if you can, fight him on your own.
Warwick
He has way better sustain compared to you. His healing is increased at lower h ealth and his attack speed towards a champion or monster on low health is incrased. Try to pull him under turret and trade.
Maokai
This guy isn't seen at top nowadays but if you do encounter him, make sure to stay away from the bushes as he'll just throw his saplings into them or better yet, bait you into it.
Shen
Few things to note about Shen and why you win this lane: YOUR PULL NEGATES 2/3 OF HIS ABILITIES.
His ultimate (shielding an ally and then teleporting him to the selected ally) can be cancelled by just pulling him in, he won't teleport but the ally will still be shielded.
His W which prevents AA's can be avoided if you just walk away from it and pull him out of it.
I'm not too sure about his dash but if it is possible, you can pull him when he's dashing towards you and stop it.
Zac
Wow, this guy does amazing damage, 1000% scaling with all types (AD, AP, Health, Armor, Magic Resist) Just avoid this game.
Just kidding, he relies in getting his blobs from his abilities for healing. You can trade with him whenever. You won't see him top but in case you do, now you know.
Teemo
Here's Satan! He'll blind you when you're in melee range and just poke you whenever, he can also increase his speed unless you are able to get a bleed stack on him, don't Q till you either w or get a bleed stack on him.
Udyr
He'll run at you, stun you, then depending on his build (usually Bruiser) Q you to death. He'll avoid some (or all) of your bleed damage with his shield.
Vladimir
Early game you basically win, some Vlad's are new or not very knowledged about Vlad and will use his W at high health, when he exits you can go in on him. When he uses his E to slow you, you slow him. If his jungler comes just run away especially if he's level 6.
Olaf
He'll spam his Q which does decent - high damage. If you decide to have a AA fight, he'll usually win it especially with his ultimate. When below 20% health he'll either slow and AA you to death or slow and E you (does have low damage but does true damage, acting as his execute move), hopefully you have enough health to not die to it and he'll deal damage to himself.
Vi
She does extra damage with every 3rd AA and can either engage or disengage with her Q. When she's charging her Q to engage, try to dodge it and when she's using it to escape, pull her before she dashes.
Thresh
Thresh top is fun but will almost always lose. Be cautious when he has ult up in case the jungler stops by. He has a shield with his W and can have jungler dash towards him with it. Otherwise he does no damage and can dash towards you and fling you around.
Singed
I don't really know much about Singed so this may be really inaccurate but don't chase him, most people do and you either end up taking a lot of damage or no reason or he butters you up for his jungler. If he proxy farms get a gank on him and he'll eventually give up or keep proxy farming. He'll be worth no gold if he keeps feeding but he'll also avoid your minions from coming into lane forcing minion damage on you or turret.
Tryndamere
35% Crit without an item? Check.
Free heal? Check.
Invincibility? Check.
Easy Engage/Disengage? Check.
Easy Slow? Check.
Play Riven I guess, my friend usually wins against Tryndamere like that.
Sion
His Q can slow or knock you up depending on how long he charges it. Most of the time he'll charge enough for a slight knockup which almost always hits. His shield is really good and can negate bleed damage. His E shreds armor and it's range can be extended by a minion or monster. Once you kill him you should run/slow him or pull him in to avoid receiving damage.
Skarner
I miss this guy, never see him anymore. He relies on AA's and ganks to win. Don't farm or fight near/under his turret as he'll ult you and then stun you. Besides that you should win.
Shyvana
I'm not too sure about Shyvana. With her dragon she's pretty powerful but can be defeated if you play smart. (I really am not sure about shyvana, not much knowledge about her)
Soraka
EZ
Mordekaiser
He'll be away from the dragon so no worry about that. He's too slow to run (325 base speed) so it'll be easy for you. If you want to avoid his damage, slow him when he's using his Q (his mace lights up) just slow him and walk away. He can get a ton of shield from minions so avoid fighting near them or pull him away from them. If he has a ghost of either a dragon or champion play passive till they die or run out of time.
Kayn
Before Rhaast this guy has nothing going for him, his W slows but you can easily just pull and slow him, if he all in's you and uses ult, flash or walk towards turret then pull him once he exits. If too far then try to fight or run.
Rengar
He'll leap at you and do his regular combo. Just avoid farming near the bushes and keep river bush warded. Should he ult and leap at you, pull him (and hope you're under or near turret).
Shaco
He'll usually bait you towards his boxes. Don't follow him if he runs and if he uses ult just pull both in and pick one of them, usually the one that's running away. If he ignites try to land a Q to heal. One of the real ways to know which is the real Shaco is which has Electrocute. Currently the fake Shaco does not have electrocute on his cooldowns for when the real one procs it.
Renekton
He usually wins every matchup early game due to his insane damage and sustain. Try to get a gank. Late game he can only act as a damage soaker rather than a bruiser. Should he be fed though he may still be relevant. Whatever you do don't 1v1 him unless you have the higher advantage.
Riven
Although she has some decent cc and a shield, you'll usually win these due to your bleed and black cleaver.
Quinn
Really annoying to fight against, she'll usually blind you then poke. Might be better to pick Garen but if not, plays safe and pull her in when you want to fight.
Akali
Instead of the current Akali, I'll be writing about the new one:
She is a bit broken, he Q does decent damage and he E allows her to dash towards you (like Diana) if she hits the shuriken. Her smoke gives her more energy and avoids turret damage. When she becomes visible pull her and go ham unless you're low. Try to avoid fighting if you're around half health or below.
Hi, I'm a Darius main in silver (I know, this guide may seem useless but it's your choice if you want to leave and find a better guide) and decided to make a guide.
Darius is/was known as one of the more cancer champions at bot lane for being able to tank and deal massive amounts of damage. This is known as juggernauts. Through this guide you may learn a bit more about Darius and I would suggest you read other guides if you already got the basics down. This is for players who are new and want to pick up Darius.
Summoner Spells
Summoner Spells
> Now while this has been nerfed Teleport is still a great spell to get you to lane quickly/gank another lane/enter a teamfight. Teleport when used goes on a 360 second cooldown and when cancelled goes on 240 second cooldown so make sure to use it wisely.
> Flash is known as a must for almost all characters (exclusions include people like Hecarim who need extra speed so they take ghost) take it always to use as an escape, engage, going over walls, etc.
> This is the replacement for teleport some people use, Ghost is on 180 second cooldown (half of teleport) and can be used to chase and get to lane faster. Take it if you're against champions with a decent escape.
> You won't use this as Darius, barrier is mostly used on mages who don't have any kind of escape or are more squishy early game.
> When going Jungle you need this to get extra experience and secure objectives like Dragon or baron. Don't skip this ever as Jungle.
> I would take cleanse on a champion who's ultimate contains a heavy form of cc such as Malzahar, Skarner, Lissandra or Maokai.
> Ignite if going mid you should usually take this for the extra damage that goes along with ignite.
> As adc you should always take this. Heal you and your supp, getting a quick speed boost to either run or chase. You can take this as supp if needed.
> As supp you should take this when the enemy adc has a good escape (Ezreal, Quinn, Lucian).
