Hey I'd just like to put it out there, one of graves biggest problems is weak mana and mana regen. without mana his effectivesness goes way down. to that end ive been building mana reaver as my 2nd item and found it to be pretty effective. it adds a lot of sustain, cdr, and good ad. I just thought I would put it out there because it makes the experience of playing him a lot smoother.
I agree that Graves is mana dependent and kind of mana hungry, this is one aspect of Graves you just have to suck up and deal with. The issue with Essence Reaver is it lacks the punch or benefits of many other items. Because Infinity Edge is just too strong, you must go this item first. Now as a second item, E. Reaver doesn't offer the move speed + amazing crits that Phantom Dancer offers. E Reaver doesn't offer the same easy to attain and cheap power spike that you would find in a Youmuu's Ghostblade. Even Bloodthirster would be a better item 2 than Essence Reaver due to the amazing dueling potential you have with the extra life steal. As Graves you just have to practice exerting good mana control and you should be fine enough to where you don't have to purchase Essence Reaver
Graves wants to gain his powerspike as quickly as possible so I would recommend Statikk Shiv over Phantom Dancer for a majority of the time.
I've tried Static Shiv, to be honest I haven't had nearly as much success as I have with Phantom Dancer. Sure you may have to wait a few more minutes to get P. Dancer, but the increased crit chance makes my Quickdraw rotation feel stronger and have more crit burst. I just think waiting the small extra smount of time for P.D, or going Youmuu's first, gives a better burst rotation. P.D just seems more worth it to me. Thank your for commenting, I appreciate the feedback.
I heavily disagree with your Statikk Shiv and Phantom Dancer -comments. DO Not sell anything for other items, cost-efficiency is important. And Graves is best on early game and nukes well, that's why Statikk Shiv is great. Phantom can be good sometimes but as a rare exception. IE+Statikk gives massive burst for you. Oh! And you probably want to consider furor instead of alacrity as a boot-enchantment. But yeah, both work and you don't usually buy enchantment for graves, only as a last-item.
And small comment of Smoke, use it together with bush. Smoke enemy, keep AA'ing and go into bush at the same time, losing maybe few more AA's from them. Ability to use Smoke well is still probably the most important thing on Graves
In my experience, S. Shiv just didn't cut it. I felt weak when I bought static. I had much better luck with either Youmuu's G. Blade or Phantom Dancer. I prefer Phantom Dancer the most, just because of your Quickdraw combo: with phantom not only do you get off more autos but you most likely get off more crit damage which in my experience is a superior burst combo than using Shiv. Thank you for commenting though, appreciate the feedback.
Boot upgrades are meant as a last item, I guess I'm just more of a personal fan of Alactity boots but I suppose Furor could work just fine as well.
Interesting comment about smoke screen, I normally don't play on the side of the lane wish bushes, I let my support deal with that skill shot magnet side of lane, so I hadn't considered that at all.
And small comment of Smoke, use it together with bush. Smoke enemy, keep AA'ing and go into bush at the same time, losing maybe few more AA's from them. Ability to use Smoke well is still probably the most important thing on Graves
Guide is surprisingly well constructed even with the lack of picture content through it.
I would recommend thinking about :
1. Adding C2V
2. Teamfight section
3. You may want to delete some chapter to compress information
Make sure to read my guide if you want some idea to add in your guide!
