Introduction
On Zed, you should get your Q at level 1, so that you can poke your enemy in lane, and then get W second so you have extra range on your Q and subsequently, more lane pressure and zoning. Then, you get your E, so you have your full combo and now you are able to trade with your laner. Max your Q first since it is your main poke and damage ability. Max E second because it is an AOE burst close combat ability which really helps when assassinating squishys and fighting tanks as it as a low cooldown. Max W last, because although the extra AD on it's passive helps, it isn't nearly as significant early game as it is late game. Level your R on every opportunity.
Zed is a burst assassin who focusses around ability burst. Early game, you should focus on CSing as Zed's passive helps massively with getting farm for less experienced players, and is useful for getting under tower farm. Use your W Q combo to poke your enemy whenever you have a chance to (this should be whenever all of the enemy minions are on 50% or above health). When your enemy laner is on lower HP than you, you can trade with them as the wave just arrives in lane. When they are low enough, you can use your R and combo your other abilities to deal as much damage as possible and hopefully take them down. Mid game, you should focus on roaming more, getting you and your team fed, placing wards and helping the jungler secure kills/objectives. You can usually duel an enemy squishy, such as an ADC, or a squishy top laner like quinn top. Late game, your only goal is to assassinate the enemy ADC in team fights, and if they have another ADC champion (such as Varus Mid or Vayne Top) then you can wait for your cooldowns and take them down too (Note that you should only wait for your QWE and not your R, since the team fight will probably be over by then or it will be too late to make a difference.
The build i showed is all based around damage and assassination, and even some of the defensive items are, such as frozen mallet. Always take ignite and flash on zed so that you can secure kills and escapes much easier. If you are ever matched up against a hard counter, like lissandra or kayle, just politely ask your jungler for some help and play safe until he ganks and you should be fine.
