Introduction

Hi, I'm D1RTY! I've been playing League of Legends since the very end of Season 5. I didn't really play other than for fun for a while, but once I got involved competitively, I've been hooked! I'm currently Silver 1 and looking to climb to at least Gold this season.

Irelia is an incredibly versatile and aggressive champion. Her greatest strengths are incredible sustain, gap-closing, true damage, percent health damage, and CC. She is one of the strongest single target duelist in the game.

Irelia is far from a common jungle pick, but since I've picked her up the results speak for themselves!

Objectives

The most amazing thing about Irelia is that I find my games are much more focused and typically they don't last much more than 25 minutes, which gives the enemy team no time to come back. Once I'm ahead I rarely fall behind. Here is a general run down of how I play out each game:

I start on the side my blue spawns, get leash on gromp, do blue, do wolves and look for a gank mid or top. If nothing, I continue farming raptors, then red, then krugs. At this point I almost always gank bottom, unless it's not possible, so I focus mid. I continue farming until about 1200-1500g and then back. Irelia's sustain is so amazing that you pretty much only have to back due to mana issues early. I solve this by purchasing Hunter's Potion on my first back almost always. I often rush it before boots, but after Recurve Bow. Once you have Hunter's Potion you rarely are less than 90% HP and mana, which means I can continue pressuring around the map CONSTANTLY! The most important part of my playstyle is that I do not give the jungler, nor the lane opponents any time to breathe. When I see the enemy typing "NEED A TENT!?", "How many times are you going to gank my lane?", "Where did all of my jungle camps go!?", etc., I know I'm doing my job right. I guess AFK farming with Irelia could work, but I wouldn't risk it when you can have such high impact around the entire map. I typically ward deep in the enemy jungle and base what part of the map I'm going to be in on where their jungler is. Counter-ganks are so incredibly powerful in low-mid elo, no one ever suspects them and usually ends up tilting that lane.

I live by this rule when it comes to objectives:

Nexus > Nexus Towers > Inhibs > Baron > Towers > Dragon > Kills

I love getting great scores in games and yes kills can lead to a win, but they're literally 7th on my list of priorities. Focus on taking objectives. Let me repeat that again, FOCUS ON TAKING OBJECTIVES!

I'm also really big on denying experience to the enemy. If you gank a lane, push it out immediately, whether the laner died or is alive. Don't let them tell you not to take their CS. It's so important to push the wave to tower and deny experience, as well as land some damage onto their turret. Rinse and repeat!

Another great tip I use a lot is in the later stages of the game, 20 minutes or later. I focus on Baron, especially early Barons. So, how do you do this? Other than winning teamfights and immediately turning your attention to Baron, the next best thing is to make sure to keep the lane farthest away from Baron pit pushed up the most. If you have your enemies dealing with a huge wave in bot side, they have a long walk to Baron pit if you start it. Map awareness is key.

As I stated before, my games with Irelia jungle average about 25 minutes, which is incredibly short (consistently) compared to almost any other champ I play. Irelia allows for amazing pressure and objective taking, but it's up to your playstyle to decide whether that is possible or not.

This guide is a work in progress. I will be adding much more detailed information as I find time. I am working on a video to help explain some tips and tricks, as well as a gameplay video when I find the time. I do hope you enjoy this guide and please feel free to leave any feedback. Thanks!
