This build can only be played when you use the IG Rakan skin, as it shows him after his divorce from Xayah. You get to choose the path he takes, either fighting to regain custody of his children (Klepto) or giving up and becoming a deadbeat dad reliving his glory days of lifting the Summoner's Cup (Grasp). I only decided to play him in the top lane because I liked Rakan's crazy mobility and teamfight utility, while disliking the build the support role forces you into. I've played enough games on him now to realize that this strategy can work, under certain conditions. This build would honestly be a lot more viable if Riot didn't insist on forcing him into support only and gave him a ward hop or self E. (bUT e iS a dAsH, you say. So is Braum W, and he can self cast.)

No matter which start you choose, IG Divorce Rakan requires that you stay back during laning phase. He's not the best at farming, but it gets easier with practice. You can use Q to farm when necessary, as he should have no mana problems at all. Focus on getting CS, while using klepto autos whenever possible. All the potions you get, along with your passive shield and Q healing means that there should be no way you get poked out of lane. Another advantage of playing Rakan top is that there is no way for the enemy to dive you under tower, as your W and R will lock them down long enough for the tower to kill them. I've gotten countless doublekills from the enemy toplaner diving me with their jungler. Once you get out of laning phase, focus on objectives like Rift Herald and Dragons, trying to force teamfights when possible. Rakan engages first, ccing the other team while your team deals damage. Another strategy you can use is roaming with some of your teammates to cut off enemies who overextend. By this point in the game, you should be approaching 40% CDR, so you can use your ult without worry, even on single targets. I've had multiple games where the enemy Darius or Nasus became fed early game, but got caught out over and over late game while Rakan ensured that they weren't a threat at all.

IG Divorce Rakan works best with a team that has good AOE damage potential. ADCs such as Sivir or Jinx are great examples. Late game scalers are necessary in other roles, like Master Yi in the jungle. Ask your jungler to focus on farm or to gank other lanes, while leaving you alone. If they do come for a gank, you don't have as many tools or the damage potential to make sure that it's successful, which can lead to a doublekill for the enemy top. The entire point of this build and the rune page is to survive until the end of laning phase, then dominating with Rakan's cc and mobility in teamfights.
