Hi all.

First at all why i wrote this guide?

I see many guides who build support Zilean with AP items. AP Zilean is powerfull champion but only when he go midlane. Why? It's easy. I'm trying build AP on support Zilean but it stupid without domination on lane. Support don't farm so haven't gold from creeps. As support you recieve gold from kills/assists and Gold Per Second Items. If you losing lane phase you haven't gold from kills and assists. If you buying Gold Per Second Items you haven't slots for AP items and wasting time (when AP Carry have 250-350 AP you have only 100 AP). Anyway as support u need buy wards Sight Ward Vision Ward (or Sightstone Sightstone) so you losing slot(-s) and gold. So even with AP build you can't do much dmg to enemy team.

So what we need to be support Zilean?

As support we need GPS items and wards
Supports always have low gold even with GPS items because of wards. So they buy very cheap items and increasing their ability's strength with CDR but not with AP. So i tryed build Zilean with CDR and he was great. And i never see CDR Zilean build and try write it now.

Why i play Zilean?

I play Zilean because i love jukes, high mobility, supporting and when enemy rage on me like (F****NG ZILEAN SLOW NO CD).

+ : * Zilean has great harass Time Bomb on lane phase. * No need much gold for core items. * Can slow/speed Time Warp which help catch enemy and run away from him. * In late can perma (!!!!!) slow or speed Time Warp one champion. * Very good ulti Chronoshift for saving life of your ADC or AP carry. * In late game you can use your ulti 2 or even 3 times in one fight (AP Zilean can't do this because no CDR or/and no Mana Regen).

- : * High Mana cost skills. * Very sq... VERY SQUISHY CHAMPION. * Weak mid game. * Hard to use ulti Chronoshift correctly in team fights (when many champions in 1 point). * Low dmg in mid game and very low dmg in late game.

I using my main AP Carry runes on Support Zilean, because he need big AP boost in early to harass enemy with Time Bomb like a mad.

Greater Mark of Magic Penetration best choice for magic damage dealers.

Greater Seal of Armor great rune for bot lane. Zilean have so low armor at start (11) so he really need it.

Greater Glyph of Ability Power gives you good magic damage in early.

Greater Quintessence of Ability Power gives you good magic damage in early.

I tryed use standard support runes on Zilean support, but he lose ability to harass enemy with Time Bomb in early so he lose lane phase every game.

for CDR only. In Utility and for mana regen and mana (you can use more Time Bomb on enemy) and for more gold (you need it cuz you support). You getting free 1 min ward more MS and more experience (you get it from your passive Heightened Learning)

Learn ulti Chronoshift at 6, 11, 16 as many other champions.
Learn Q Time Bomb as soon as possible 1, 3, 5, 7, 9. It's your harass in early.
Then learn W Rewind. It help you to use your ulti Chronoshift (or other abilities) faster.
And at last learn E Time Warp

and your best choice.
for escaping and sometimes killing.
good for killing in early because you have very big dmg from your Q Time Bomb.

are good for support too.
You can take it instead of

Support Zilean need:
- Mana regen (or Max Mana).
- CDR.
- Wards.
- GPS Items. Buy support items Sight Ward. You need mana regen to spam Time Bomb, wards to def your adc from ganks and health regen for more survivability.
for MS
for more Max Mana and Mana Regen.
Philosopher's Stone Kage's Lucky Pick for more gold, regends and little AP
gives your little more survivability and wards.
More speed and CDR
Gives your mana regen and CDR


With this 2 items and masteries you have 39% CDR (when maximum is 40%). From ~13-15 level you can speed/slow target for very long time or even perma speed/slow.


Even more mana regen and great passive (Increase mana regen by 1% for 1% of Max Mana missing). And it gives great active which removes CC from ally (very good active for supporting)
You can have only Tear of the Goddess but if you have money you can buy it for more AP and cool shield.
You losing CDR, which gives this item but it gives more mana regen and very good active so you allies will be fly around the map like rockets.
By the way when you buy Shurelya's Battlesong you can sold your Ionian Boots of Lucidity and buy Mobility Boots.

You just destroy your lane with Draven, because both of you deal so big dmg with your Qs.
They have big dmg from their combos - easy kills on bot lane.
Noone can catch her with your Time Warp and her passive Strut.
Very good engage on bot lane with Ambush and your Time Bomb.
ADC w/o escape abilities just love your Time Warp Chronoshift.

Supports:

Healers:

They just heal all dmg from Time Bomb

Tanky supports:

You can't harass them good and them prevent you use your Time Bomb on their adc.

ADC:

If she spam her traps. You can't remove it because you very squishy, haven't heal or shield. So you can't harass from bush.
His Spinning Axe just deal more dmg than your Time Bomb.
Graves passive True Grit gives him so good survivability.
If she have support with skillsshot (like Blitzcrank) it's so annoying. You can't stay behind your creeps because Miss Fortune and you need stay behind your creeps because support.
Anyone who need your speed to engage, like:

Champions who need speed to chase enemy adc:
You'll hate enemies with ability which silence (or even more - like stun).

Another type of enemies is assassins. They can destroy squishy teammate (or even you) very quickly so you even won't use your ulti Chronoshift.

Lane Phase

When you staying on lane try to harass enemy adc or support with your Q Time Bomb. You can do that from bush so enemy can't counterattack you easily. But be care - if enemy have CC he can disable you when you trying harass him and then kill you with his teammate. For example:
When you trying harass enemy Blitzcrank use Time Bomb only when you staying behind creeps or he haven't mana or grab on cd. In another situation very big chance he grab you and kill with his ADC.
It's hard to harass even when enemy haven't CC but anyway have very good dmg, like Draven's Spinning Axe or Graves Buckshot. Try use your Time Bomb when them busy like trying catch axe or killing big creep so they can't deal dmg to you.
As any other support buy wards and place them to protect your life and life of your ADC.

Mid Game

Help team in different fights save their lifes and don't forget to protect your ADC. You can defend lane with your combo and killing a lot of creeps but better speed Time Warp your ally and give him all this farm.
Place ward in key positions, help taking dragon and buy your core items.

Late Game

Save your allies in team fight using Time Warp and Chronoshift.
Ward baron and other key positions.
Speed your allies when they coming to lane/teamfight.

is a good combo to deal very big dmg. Don't forget - your first bomb deal damage instantly after you using second one.
... Use this combo to speed one ally or slow one enemy. Don't forget to use your Time Warp right after previous speed/slow end.

Use your Time Warp to speed yourself or ally to come on lane/fight faster from base or other lane.
You can use Time Bomb on ally - do it when you can't reach enemy, but ally'll do this.

In team fights you must use your ulti Chronoshift on dying ally. But sometimes u can leave him die to save more important ally some seconds after. For example no need to use your ultimate Chronoshift on Amumu who already used his ulti Curse of the Sad Mummy if enemy team start pressure on your ADC.
Use your Time Warp to help engage your allies, to save them or to help kill running enemy.
If your ulti on CD always use your Rewind as soon as possible. So you can use your second ulti very quickly.
You can help team with your Time Bomb but be care - as more the game goes as less damage Time Bomb dealing but you still lose much mana.

Zilean is very powerfull support (and APC too) and he's so broken with this perma slow/speed and double ulti in one teamfight. I hope you enjoy this build and I'll see more and more CDR Zil on the battlefield.
