Under Construction
It is seldom the case where a champion is defined by his actions after joining the League of Legends rather than before. Such is the case with Jax, for whom the argument could be made that he is the most prolific tournament fighter currently at the Institute of War. Before joining the League, Jax was an unremarkable soldier-for-hire. For reasons known only to the former leader of the League, High Councilor Reginald Ashram, Jax was put on the top of the list of candidates to receive a League Judgment - the interview process that either accepts or rejects a prospective champion. His Judgment was the quickest in League history, where the Doors of Acceptance glowed and slowly swung open as soon as it began. Jax faced no recorded Observation or Reflection during his Judgment.
Jax proved himself to be an immediate terror in the Fields of Justice. The self-proclaimed Armsmaster of the League rattled off a streak of consecutive wins that to this day has not been matched. A number of summoners in the League grew concerned that the perceived objectivity of the League of Legends would be questioned by the presence of an unknown fighter who was unbeatable. For this reason, the new leader of the League (following Reginald Ashram's disappearance), High Councilor Heyward Relivash, created special restrictions for Jax to fight under. This was something the League had never done before, and something which has never been done since. The burly fighter responded by imposing his own special conditions; as a means of protest, he permitted himself to fight using only a brass lamppost. Neither the League's sanctions nor his own has affected his winning ways. The League has since rescinded its sanctions, but Jax has not; he fights and fights well with his trusty brass lamppost.
"Be advised - there has been an outbreak of lamppost-shaped bruises in the League of Legends."

Great Summoner Spells

Passive -
Relentless Assault This is his passive. His passive op. 'nough said...Just kidding. No but really. This passive is great with the composition of skills he has. His ult
Grandmaster-At-Arms because of the ult's passive.
Empower because this skill counts towards the passive. All in all a great passive for the mighty
Jax
Q -
Leap Strike This skill is just like katarinas
Shunpo where you can jump to a friendly champion or ward and of course, enemy champions. This is a great skill with many uses. To close gap or to run away. To initiate or to lure in a greedy summoner. If scales with AP AND AD.
W -
Empower This skill is your main skill for damage output. It counts as a hit towards your passive
Relentless Assault. It scales awesomely (if that's a word) with its AP ratio. 60% of your AP. Doesn't seem like much? but think about it. First off people dont see the fact that you can add that on with your
Leap Strike (which that skill scales with AP AND AD) and add that with
Sheen. So you do the math...cause I don't really want to.
E -
Counter Strike The best skill out there...well I think. "For up to 2 seconds, Jax dodges all basic attacks and takes 25% less damage from area of effect abilities. At the end of the duration or if Counter Strike is activated again, Jax deals physical damage and stuns nearby enemies for 1 second. This spell deals 20% additional damage for each attack dodged to a maximum of 100% increased damage." Does that not sound OP enough to you? This skill scales only with AD but your physical damage scales at 0.5. BUT...BUT your additional damage scales 1.0. Add that with a bit of
Empower and you are set.
R -
Grandmaster-At-Arms This is a tricky ult. The ult passive is great and awesome with your
Relentless Assault Cause every three skrikes deals additional magic damage. 0.7 PER AP. This passive will own your enemies, expecially if you have
Guinsoo's Rageblade. But the active is the tricky part. Your active gives you bonus armor and magic resist for 8 seconds. The bonus armor scales with how much AD you have. 0.3. The magic resist scales with how much AP you have. 0.2. I'm still getting the hang of when to use it. But my best guess, is to use it before a team fight. Actually use it if you are taking some heavy damage. Because I have used it before and I barely got touched and then later on I get killed when I could have saved it and got away. I think this skill just has to be activated when you really think you need it. Like a involuntary action. Well for me atleast for me.

There are notes at the items but not as thoroughly explained as here.
So for your first items you can get
Boots with three
Health Potion
or
Doran's Shield
or
Long Sword with three
Health Potion
Typical standard items for top lane. Its good for the runes and masteries that I have picked.
It has that good cheap beginning tankyness. If you have built runes and masteries the way I have in this build, you don't have much early resistance. I build for early damage.
Long sword for the early damage and harass and pots because it replenishes your health. If you have health then you are not dead. If you are dead that means you have given the other team a kill. Given the other team a kill they are ahead and will win the game. So get pots.
Mercury's Treads if they have good amount of magic damage and CC(crowd control)
Ninja Tabi if you are going agianst good amount of damage and need the armor.
I like getting
Sheen first because it's a good early damage output and with Jax you use your skills a lot. You can combo your skill
Empower with sheen and deal TONS OF DAMAGE.
Then build either
Phage or
Zeal and go for
Trinity Force as fast as you can get gold
Guinsoo's Rageblade is a great item for Jax because it helps 3 out of 4 of his skills. His
Leap Strike scales with ap and his
Empower and his ult,
Grandmaster-At-Arms
Hextech Gunblade is good for Jax because of the slow active and the stats it gives. It gives both AP and AD stats which this build needs!
iceborn gauntlets. Once agian the stats and the passive. You use your skills a lot and the AoE slow is great after every skill you do. The added armor is great so you can get tanky..er
Maw of Malmortius. Lots of people will not like this one for a item unless is necessary in their situation. I like it becuase most of enemies you will face will deal magic damage in atleast one of their skills. Maybe not like ADC but other champions. Also I know their are better items out their but this guide is not for you to be ADC, its for you to be the brut and be hybrid offtank. I mean the more armor and magic resist the better. Am I wrong?...probably
This isn't really supposed to be a step by step item build but a general idea of how to build a hybrid Jax. This is a opinionated guide and you can build however you like! But this is how I build and I just wanted to share.
