Runes
Fleet Footwork is the most common rune page for Jhin. Triumph can be exchanged for Overheal, and Legend: Alacrity for Legend: Bloodline, which synergises well with the healing gained from Fleet Footwork and grants additional healing, increasing survivability. Some use Inspiration with Magical Footwear and Biscuit Delivery (the most common secondary runes for ADCs) in place of Sorcery. |
A more aggressive rune choice is Electrocute, granting burst damage for short trades during the laning phase. This rune page works best against champions like Draven, Lucian or Tristana, while Fleet Footwork should be used against champions like Caitlyn, Nautilus or Thresh. |
Abilities
Dancing Grenade is Jhin's most important ability. It can be used to clear minion waves and is a great trading tool. |
Deadly Flourish roots enemies that have received damage dealt by Jhin or his allies, as well as enemies inside one of his traps, making it an important tool during all stages of the game. |
The most important use for Captive Audience is the vision the traps can grant when placed in bushes, around objectives or at chokepoints. |
Starting Items
Doran's Blade can be considered the standard starting item for Jhin. |
Doran's Shield can be considered a more defensive choice. It should be used against champions such as Caitlyn, Varus or Zyra. |
This item allows you to use your abilities - especially Dancing Grenade - more often, which, in combination with the additional minion damage, makes it easier to push minion waves against champions like Caitlyn or Sivir. |
Boots make it possible to start with four potions which provide you with additional sustain during the early stages of the game. While boots do not increase your damage, they can be used against champions which rely on skillshots, like Thresh or Blitzcrank. |
Boots
Boots of Swiftness are the most common boot choice. They are cheaper than the other options and grant additional mobility, which is very useful for Jhin. |
In contrast to the Boots of Swiftness, Berserker's Greaves are an offensive choice, exchanging the additional mobility for damage and greater scaling potential. |
Ninja Tabi are very useful against AD-heavy team compositions and champions like Jax, Fiora, Yasuo, Kindred, Caitlyn or Draven. |
Mercury's Treads are very useful against AP-heavy team compositions and champions like Maokai, Viktor, Elise, Lulu or Varus. |
Essential Items
During the last season, the two essential items for Jhin were Infinity Edge and Rapid Firecannon. Because of the changes to Stormrazor during the preseason, it is now the most common first item for Jhin, while Infinity Edge and Rapid Firecannon are bought as second and third item. |
Situational Items
While Guardian Angel grants 40 attack damage, the additional armour and its passive ability play a very important role during the later stages of the game, in which Jhin becomes a high priority target for the enemy team. Therefore, it is bought as fourth or fifth item in most games. |
Bloodthirster grants a 80 attack damage as well as 20% lifesteal, with excess healing becoming a temporary shield, which greatly increases your damage and survivability, making it an excellent item choice for Jhin. |
Maw of Malmortius grants attack damage, cooldown reduction, magic resistance, and due to its passive ability, it should be bought against AP assassins like LeBlanc or Kassadin. |
Due to its magic resistance and active ability, Mercurial Scimitar is a useful item against champions like Morgana, Twisted Fate or Ahri. |
Lord Dominik's Regards grants 45 attack damage and 35% armour penetration, making it a good item choice against any tank. |
Mortal Reminder reduces healing effects on your target and should be bought against supporters like Soraka, champions like Dr. Mundo, or Fiora, and enemy ADC's building Bloodthirster. |
