Lore

Even in her youth, Karma exhibited almost superhuman composure. While her peers explored the torrent of emotions that came with adolescence, Karma meditated in the Lotus Gardens. She was convinced that the true path to enlightenment was a journey inward, to a place within the self, overlooked by most. She exuded such inner contentment that she quickly became a go-to mediator and confidante in her village. Her instructors used to say: ''That girl can not only weather a storm, but calm it.'' Karma did not live extravagantly; her parents owned a local business selling antiques in the Navori province and they often struggled to provide for themselves, though they did so with cheery optimism. Her most prized possessions were two exquisite fans taken from her family's shop.[/color]

When Noxian troops invaded southern Ionia, her village was one of the first to fall. The villages who survived the assault were captured by Noxian forces. It was then that Karma found her calling. By exploiting the insecurities of the Noxian commander, she negotiated the safe release of the villages to the northern lands. She was present at the Placidium, where the Elders had considered surrender until Irelia's impassioned last stand renewed the Ionian's hope. Karma used this hope to solidify the Elders' commitment to remain defiant against the Noxian onslaught. For her devotion and charisma, Karma was made the figurehead of the Ionian resistance. She never compromised, and she shared every hardship with her people, even when it came to combat. By tapping into her inner resilience, she discovered that she could bring great force to bear against her foes on the battlefield. She modified her fans into lethal implements, and was tutored by Janna to enhance their effects. The Noxians called her, ''The Enlightened One,'' a nickname she embraced, and one which they would come to dread. She joined the League to represent Ionia in the ultimate political arena.

''Her fan technique is a deadly art of grace and poise, but her truest strength lies in the hearts of those willing to die alongside her.''
-- Irelia

Why Karma?

Karma will surprise everyone, even the person controlling her. Level 1 you might get a dive on you from the adc, and you juke with shield and barrier. You might save someones life by 10 hp and speed boost. You might even explode on them with a mantra shield that does more then they bargained for.

Pros and Cons

Karma is so AP based, shouldn't I build her AP?

She is, but shes not. Karma is more about sustain and surviving. Late game is where she looks best, and with 200 ap and some missing health you can pull off the impossible. Yeah sure you can get some AP items, but we're not playing AP Karma, we're playing support. Your whole goal is to keep your team alive. The way her AP scales with her abilities doesn't justify AP over cooldown reduction. Remember, you're supposed to hurt the enemy not kill them. Don't try to build a killing machine that isn't supposed to kill.

Well, then why not tank?

Tanking would work! But your shield passively makes you a tank. One great goal you can do is to find a happy median of health, armor, and magic resist. Yeah you're not coming off brightly as the AD stopping tank, but you'll be ready for every situation.

How I use Mantra

Mantra is rough, you never have enough when you need it. I prefer to use my mantra for shielding. Shielding does damage and protects their focus. Did i mention you use it on the focus mainly? During a team-fight a nicely placed mantra shield, and mantra heal can be the difference between a 4 for 4 exchange and a 4 for 1/0 exchange.

I almost never use mantra for chasing. Chasing is a big no-no as Karma because shes slow with no getaway. Watch your over-extends, and keep your shield on cool-down for all team-fights.

Short and Sweet

I kept this guide short and sweet.
Karma is a pro champion. Its very hard to master her, and she takes forever to get used to her scaling.

You will get to a point where you can poke and prod with her and take very little damage, which surprises the enemy team.

Karma has a slow start, which is daunting to any bot team. The slow start is well worth it, because for team fights there is none greater.

Dont preemptively waste mana for shields when your target might not take damage.

Make slow and relevant decisions. Don't run into team fights right away.

Linger with explosive shields and speed ups.

When the focus is apparent, get in there and do some damage. Re-shield, and heal.

Do whatever you can. Never give up either, Karma gets stronger as she loses health. This allows for great turn-arounds and saving gestures.

Karma is a beach.

Tips and Things to note.

Items are a must on karma. Getting the Chalice.... In my opinion.... Is one the smartest ideas you can possibly do. I can sustain a lane for about 15 minutes without a back (if i had too). Consider whats happening in your lane. Really step back and take a good hard look at it. Are you dying to AD damage? Are you dying because your ADC cant match their adc's damage.? Are you dying to the enemey jungler coming in? These are things that you cant really help, but you are the only reason your adc would feel comfortable going out. You need to be the master of movements. Zone people out, keep wards up often, and keep your adc in check. Ping for assistance. Communication is key. The real goal for me as a karma is to destroy bottom lane to get into team-fights. If another lane is losing badly, let them lose if you havent won your lane yet. Be safe, don't poke your head where it doesn't belong. Shield before face-walking bushes. Dont face walk bushes even! Every spell is a gift. Use it to save someone. Don't try and save mana while walking by someone doing a lizard or dragon. Shield them up, keep their health high. This will be the difference between a gank for them or a gank for you. Are you above your tower because youre so pushed back? Is your adc not able to poke forward so youre sitting on mana and mantra? Heal heal heal... Use everything in your arsenal at all times. The key to a good Karma is saving people, in every way possible. Save them time, distance, speed, health, damage, vision, item spread. I wouldnt jump right into ranked play with an unpolished Karma.
