Talon is the classic counter to Kassadin. Talons loss of silence however does reduce his effectiveness against you since if he E's you, you can simply Rift Walk away.

Introduction to Kassadin and my past.
My main IGN is: HarrysManor if you wish to play with me. I have been a Kassadin main for a very very long time now. I have well over 1000 games on Kassadin and I have played Kassadin when he was bad, good, op, and everything in between. No matter what his state has been I have always loved playing him. I am a big fan of his current state in the League scene and he has some great potential and interesting builds that can be utilized very effectively. Today we will be primarily focusing on Kassadin in the mid lane.
This is my first ever guide so I hope you all enjoy! I look forward to updating this guide as time goes by! Also I hope to make more guides for my favourite champs.
Kassadin is a very a mobile assassin with a great potential for diving the enemy back line. He is one of the best roaming champions and has a decent early game thanks to his W now being an autoattack reset. His late game is still very strong, maybe the strongest it has ever been. His ultimate cooldown at level 16 is amazing with a good amount of CDR, down to 1.1 seconds if he has 45% CDR thanks to the new CDR mastery, although the differences of 40% and 45% are very slim. Kassadin's roaming and skirmishing are what makes him an amazing and unique champion.
Playing Kassadin requires a certain mind set. Every thing you do requires pre-planning. You need to know how you are starting something and how you are ending it. This strategic thought is required to play Kassadin at a high level. Every thing you do in either team fights, 1 on 1's or picking off enemy champs all need pre-planning for the in and out of that engagement. Pre-planning also includes target priority which means which target is a threat that I could jump on. Can I kill them? Do I have follow up? Is Zhonya's up? There are so many questions that you must ask yourself and answer before you commit.
"The balance of power must be preserved". Laning with Kassadin is quite unique since you have the best roaming potential. But knowing the balance between both farming and roaming is what separates the great Kassadins from the rest.
Also while most people believe Kassadin is a very weak laner, Kassadin has a great amount of harass as well. His ability to poke someone down with his Q is very strong. He also utilizes Thunderlord's incredibly in lane as you only need a spell plus your W on an enemy champ to proc it. Having this harass requires you to ward effectively though, as again you are very easily ganked pre-6.
Kassadin has amazing skirmishing and late game teamfights. Again this all requires pre-planning for every move you need to make, and how you are getting out of that fight.
Again when it comes to roaming, having knowledge of the enemy's ward placements and how you work around them will instill fear into the enemy team every time you step out of their vision. If they can't see you coming, well they won't see you coming. Stepping in and out of vision constantly is a good way to confuse the opposing team and they won't know how to react once you show up. As long as you have planned the pros and cons and your path before you gank a lane, you'll surely come out victorious.
I hope to update this more and more as time goes on. I am on holidays so I don't have a lot of time to write this!
