Introduction
Quick Note:
I'm not too much into the what-ifs and situational stuff. If you think maybe something would work better in your playstyle, I encourage you to test it out. In this guide I'm just giving you what has worked for me...
I am not going to go too in-depth with Runes & Masteries. For Kha'Zix I run standard AD Runes & Masteries. This is what I usually run on all of my aggressive top lane champs. Maybe grab a few more points in Magic Resist for an AP match-up on the Masteries page.
I run a standard AD runepage, it gives good bonus attack damage and resistances that will help you in your lane.
I also run a standard AD Mastery Page, it also gives good bonus attack damage and resistance that will help you in your lane.
These are the only two summoners I like to take on Kha'Zix, if you are in a more organized team other summoners could be great situationaly but in a solo queue enviorment, I believe these to be the most effective.
Ignite is great source of ture damage used for scaring off enemy champs or for securing a kill that seemed lost. Ignite also adds to the high burst factor of Kha'Zix so it is always a great choice to grab.
Flash is a staple amongst summoner spells. It is particularly great on Kha'Zix because of his high mobility. The last think you want to happen in a fight is to get focused or chain CC'd. Flash helps you get out of a sticky situations or can help you dive into the heart of the war. Whichever you prefer, it will always be a great summoner spell and I always take it.
I'm not too much into the what-ifs and situational stuff. If you think maybe Teleport or Exhaust would work better in your playstyle, I encourage you to test it out. In this guide I'm just giving you what has worked for me...

JUST REMEMBER LEAGUE IS ALSO A SKILL MATCHUP!!![
I would recommend one simple thing if you are into coutner-picking and discouraged when someone tells you that Kha'Zix won't do good against that opponent.
Visit; Championselect.net
From here you can search champions and it will tell you what is the best things to do against certain enemies.
For Instance:
If I was going to go against a Darius in lane. I would utilize Leap and Void Assault defensively instead of offensively. I would try using Void Spike to harass as much as possible. I wouldn't have long fights with him and would avoid letting him get stacks onto me.
Learning to adapt to enemies and change your playstyle to win matchups is what will make you a better player. I would highly recommend reading counter information on the website and applying it in lane. Good Luck out there slugger! :)

Buying:
I prefer to start with a safe build because it allows you to farm up, stay safe and ramp up to mid and late game. If you go more aggressive you are susceptible to ganks and can set you behind. You have to find the fine line early game between drawing attention but not getting camped.
Leashing/Walking Into Lane:
Make your way to Golem Buff to leash for you jungler. Auto attack the large golem till about 650Hp then walk away. DO NOT TAKE THE SMALL GOLEMS!!
Move into lane and place your sight ward where you see fit. I like to place it directly in river bush or tri-bush because junglers like to wait in those bushes before ganking. Just place it somewhere that gives good vision and you will be able to tell if the jungler is going to gank.
Harrasing:
Make sure to use bush control to utilize your passive Unseen Threat as much as possible. This is rather easy just stay in bushes and you will gain a small advantage with your bonus passive damage during small trades.
From the bushes:
The most standard poke comes with the element of surprise. From the bushes: Leap onto your opponent, Use Void Spike, then chase with Taste Their Fear. It also doesn't have a terribly long cooldown so you can chase further with another Taste Their Fear.
Passive: Unseen Threat
[Q] Taste Their Fear
PASSIVE: Kha'Zix marks enemies that are isolated from their allies. ACTIVE: Kha'Zix slashes, dealing physical damage to a single target. Damage against isolated targets is significantly increased. PHYSICAL DAMAGE: 70 / 100 / 130 / 160 / 190 (+ 150% bonus AD) PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO ISOLATED TARGET: 100 / 145 / 190 / 235 / 280 (+ 200% bonus AD) Evolving claws increases damage to isolated targets by 12% of their missing health (max 200 vs monsters). Also increases range of Taste Their Fear and Kha'Zix's Basic Attacks by 50. |
[W] Void Spike
ACTIVE: Kha'Zix fires spikes in a line that explode on contact with an enemy, dealing physical damage to all nearby enemies. Kha'Zix is healed if he is within the explosion radius. PHYSICAL DAMAGE: 75 / 115 / 155 / 195 / 235 (+ 90% bonus AD) HEAL: 40 / 70 / 100 / 130 / 160 (+ 50% AP) Evolving Void Spike enhances Void Spike to fire three spikes in a cone. If available, Void Spike will also consume Unseen Threat to slow and damage all enemies struck. |
[E] Leap
ACTIVE: Kha'Zix leaps to an area, dealing physical damage to nearby enemies on arrival. PHYSICAL DAMAGE: 65 / 100 / 135 / 170 / 205 (+ 80% bonus AD) Evolving Leap will increase its range and causes kills and assists to refresh Leap's cooldown. |
[R] Void Assault
Evolutions
At Level 6:Evolve Void Spike
This gives you a good poke and farming/waveclear tool. It also applies your passive increasing your potential burst damage.
At Level 11:
Evolve Leap
Evolving this gives you the ability to leap over many landscape features on Summoner's Rift. Great escape tool, gap closer, and hard initiation on a single target. The ability's reset on assists and kills cause you to be a nearly unhittable target with skillshots in teamfights. Evolve this in time for teamfights and utilize it to it's full potential offensive and defensively.
At Level 16:
Evolve Taste Their Fear or Void Assault
I am more inclined to evolve Void Assault because of the mobility factor and another factor that makes it hard to lock you down or get damage off on you in teamfights. At this point in the game the non=evolved Taste Their Fear is still packing a punch and is alot less likely to catch and isolated target.
This build revolves around Kha'Zix being all about High Burst, High Mobility!
Mercury's Treads are wonderful on Kha'Zix it aids him in his goal to stay highly mobile, it also gives a small little boost in Magic Resistance which is nice to negate some of those mid champs burst.
A great item for Kha'Zix, gives him a huge boost in AD with also that little bit of life steal that synergizes nicely with his sustain from his W.
Black Cleaver is a wonderful item on Kha'Zix. The reason being is that he is all about high burst, the armor penetration on this item just makes his abillities hit that much harder. Black Cleaver also gives you a good chunk of AD and Health.
Last Whisper is similar to the Black Cleaver in the sense that is gives you that much more burst because of its Armor Penetration while also giving you a nice boost in AD.
Guardian Angel is a great item on any glass cannon/assassin. I not only gives you some good resistances but an amazing active that allows you to come back from the dead. Utilize this to high tail it out of there or to clean up a fight you made a few mistakes in.
Honestly I rarely ever get to build this item. It is great though it gives you some more resistances and AD but more importantly it gives you a small shield. This a great item to round of your build late game.
Warmog's Armor and Randuin's Omen are two tanky options you can choose late game. Randuin's Omen is nice because you will be in the heart of the fight, so it's active will work nicely. But, if your just looking for pure health, Warmog's Armor is a nice option.
As Kha'Zix you never want to got into the fight first. Make sure in champion select you make it clear that you are NOT the tank. Alot of people percieve top lane as the tank role. For Kha'Zix you are a high mobility, high burst glass cannon. I mean you do have some beef to you but you should definitely never be first into the teamfight. Once a fight has broke out, utilize Void Assault and Leap to secure kills on squishy targets and avoid focus/cc. If you evolved Leap this should be rather easy because of the ability's reset. You need to evaluate the situation, know when to turn and burst someone or use Leap defensively. High mobility in fights will keep you alive and keep your team winning fights. 2v1 and champions with chain cc are dangerous. Be smart, clever, and careful. But when you know the time is right, GO BALLS DEEP! PEDAL TO THE MEDAL! LEAPING ON EVERYONE, BLOWING THEM UP AND ACEING THE TEAM!
Thank you for reading my first ever guide. I really enjoy playing Kha'Zix and I hope you can find it enjoyable too. Please tell me if there is anything you think should be changed in the guide and criticism you have. I would love to learn from this one and hopefully make other guides. This has always been my dream ever since I found Mobafire.com! This website helped me get my footing and learn what type of champions build what and how to be successful with all my favorite champions. Thank You! again and Good Luck, Have Fun All!!!!
