ABOUT 2 MINUTE GUIDES
Welcome. I'm glad you found your way to Leona: A 2 Minute Guide.
These guides are built to discourage guides. I challenge you to step into the Fields of Justice, and just find out what works best for you. Forget anything you've read in any guide - even this one.
That said, my 2 minute guides are meant to give you a quick glimpse at how I build any given champion, what works for me, and what I find the most success with. If you were having trouble before, I sincerely hope that they help you. If you were doing something else and it's working for you - don't listen to a word I say!
You're supporting in Season 3. No job could be easier. With the global gold bonuses you don't really have to build a Gold/Per item, but I prefer Philosopher's Stone.
With the items here, you defend against everything. The great thing is that you can build parts of each item depending on what you or the team needs - or you can focus one item at a time. Either way, you'll still be quite powerful for the entire game post level 3.
Very easy to experiment with the builds for supports in Season 3. I could very easily swap out the
Iceborn Gauntlet with
Rylai's Crystal Scepter and it would work just as nicely. EXPERIMENT!

Of course we max
Solar Flare first.
Our first point goes into
Shield of Daybreak because we want to be able to protect our carry from any early tricks. The stun and damage are okay for level one.
Once you've got a point into everything max
Eclipse as soon as possible. This is your AoE burst and also your survivability. Staying alive is awesome.
I like to alternate ranking up
Zenith Blade and
Shield of Daybreak late game. I Do this because I value the utility of having lower CC's on my stuns over the damage that they do. I'm an initiator meant to feed my carry. I need to stun as often as possible, not deal damage.
Of course you could go with a more offensive option, but this has the best results in my play-testing.

Masteries! In my opinion the best thing to happen in the Season 3 changes :)
Good Hands
is completely OP for just 1 mastery point, so we build our defensive tree up to that. The focus is health and armor, and also some damage reduction from basic attacks. Want to win trades in lane? Done.
In the utility tree I find that
Wealth
isn't worth it, but
Greed
adds up nicely. We don't take biscuits cause we ain't no biscuit-eater. And a 1 minute ward? Pshhhh, no one wants to invade anyway. So we focus the important stuff. Lower flashes CD and get some mana regen. Rock on.

You can do pretty much whatever you want here. Sometimes I go MPen Reds, Armor Yellows, Mres Blues, and GP5 Quints. The build shown here though is made for being the god of lane bullies, and really keeping your carry protected.
With the new global gold change, I think sacrificing the Gp5 is very well worth it for 10 Armor and 4 Mres on Leona.
