Hello everyone! This is my first time creating a guide so I hope that I do a alright job at being able to let you understand Lissandra better, and play her like a pro. I hope to update this guide as needed for S3 and so on. This is not a exact guide on how to play her, this is how I play her and how I personally think she should be built. I encourage you to try out different things and have fun! There are many options of items, runes, masteries, and builds you can try. If you choose to downvote please let me know why in the comments because for me, feedback is crucial. Thank you for looking at my guide and I hope you enjoy Lissandra, the Ice Witch.

Lissandra’s magic twists the pure power of ice into something dark and terrible. With the force of her black ice, she does more than freeze – she impales and crushes those who oppose her. To the terrified denizens of the north, she is known only as “The Ice Witch.” The truth is much more sinister: Lissandra is a corruptor of nature who plots to unleash an ice age on the world.

Centuries ago, Lissandra betrayed her tribe to evil creatures, known as the Frozen Watchers, in return for power. That was the last day that warm blood ran through her veins. With her corrupted tribesmen and the strength of the Watchers, she swept across the land like a terrible blizzard. As her empire spread, the world grew colder and ice choked the land. When the Watchers were defeated by ancient heroes, Lissandra did not lose faith and swore to prepare the world for their return.

Lissandra worked to purge all knowledge of the Watchers from the world. Using magic to take human form, she masqueraded as numerous seers and elders. Over the course of generations, she rewrote the stories of the Freljord, and so the history of its people changed. Today the fragmented retellings of the Watchers are seen as children’s tales. But this deception wasn’t enough – Lissandra also needed an army.

She set her sights on the noble Frostguard tribe. Lissandra knew corrupting the Frostguard would take centuries, and so she launched her greatest deception. She murdered and stole the identity of the Frostguard leader. Then she slowly began to warp the tribe’s proud traditions. When her human form grew old, she faked her own death and then murdered her successor to steal her identity. With each generation, the Frostguard grew more insular, cruel and twisted. Today, the world still sees them as a noble and peaceful tribe that guards against evil creatures like the Ice Witch. In truth, they now serve the witch and long for the glorious return of the Watchers.

Lissandra knows that on that day nations will fall and the world will be reborn in ice.

Greater Mark of Magic Penetration

Greater Seal of Armor

Greater Glyph of Scaling Ability Power

Greater Quintessence of Ability Power

I pick Magic Penetration Marks because of the chance they will build Magic Resist because of your burst if you use the skills in order, which I will list in the Skill Sequence section. I pick up Armor Seals because of the important early laning phase. If you are against a melee champion you have a good chance because you have the ability to root them in place, create some distance, and poke at them with your Ice Shard. Next I choose Scaling Ability Power Glyphs because, well who wouldn't want more AP in the early and late game? Last I choose Ability Power Quintessences, the same reason with the Glyphs, it will give you a early and late game advantage having as much AP as you can.

For masteries I choose 21/0/9. Because of this in your early game you have the ability to get 1 free spell every 18 seconds, and if you do cast spells within that 18 seconds that do cost you mana, you will be able to regenerate it at a quicker pace due to the mana regen and mana in the utility tree, for the offensive tree I go pure AP in order to do as much damage as I possibly can.

For items I always start out with 5x Health Potion 4x Mana Potion and 2x Vision Ward for almost every mid champion I play, simply because its a great start. It gives you the health stability, the mana stability on top of the masteries, and vision just in case they try to gank you while your completely dominating the mid lane. Sorcerer's Shoes are for the magic penetration, while the Rod of Ages gives you more health to keep you in teamfights and your lane for a longer time, it also gives you more mana to poke around more and also keeps you from having to recall for mana all the time. As well with the Catalyst the Protector passive built into it, every time you level up you receive some mana and health, which will help you out tremendously. The full build consists of strong AP, sustain, and Magic Penetration.

Skill Sequence

For the skill sequence for farming I use my Ice Shard as needed to clear out minion waves and pick up the CS. You can lead up with your Ring of Frost in order to get a full around AOE damage wave to pick up all the CS you can in the minion wave. Your Glacial Path is a very convenient way to get out of tough situations, initiate fights, and roam around the map. However it is on a bit of a cooldown so I would use it wisely, and you can be prevented from teleporting to the claw if you are stunned for the duration or are disabled. Your ultimate Frozen Tomb is a certain fight changer. On self cast the spell renders you invulnerable to damage for 1.5 seconds, and then sends a wave of ice that deals 150/300/450 (+70% of Ability Power) and slows enemy movement speed by 20%, the ice lasts for 3 seconds. On an enemy cast the enemy is stunned for 1.5 seconds and deals 150/300/350 (+70% Ability Power) damage.

In teamfights if you initiate lead up with your Glacial Path, teleport to your claw, then use your Ring of Frost to root the enemies, then proceed to use your ultimate on yourself to make yourself invulnerable to damage while dealing tons of damage to the surrounding enemies, then use your Ice Shard as a filler to clean up and deal damage.

If you have bought Zhonya's Hourglass I use the same rotation but instead using the Hourglass after your ultimate to keep yourself from taking damage while the enemy team is focused on your and your team deals damage.

Summoner Spells

I use Ignite and Flash in order to be able to slow down enemy healing, and finish them off while being able to combine your Glacial Path and Flash in order to create a long distance from you and your enemies. Other possible summoner spells could be Exhaust or Teleport in order to slow down enemies, reduce their attack speed, and reduce their damage. Combining Teleport and your Glacial Path to catch up to or to create a gank is also a fantastic way to secure a kill.

Pros / Cons

* Great with Zhonya's Hourglass
* Great Gap Closure/Opener
* Lots of CC
* Strong Ganks
* Tons of AoE

* Weak Early Game
* Mana Hungry Early Game

In summary Lissandra, the Ice Witch is a strong mid champion, that has some early game issues, however in the late game is a complete bulldozer that can carry the team to victory. I hope my guide has convinced you to use Lissandra, and is an alright guide for the 1st one. Until next time, keep on playing, and keep on dominating mid lane!
