One of my bugbears as this champ - he is so slippery that you can't really lock him down to stop him ccing you without him getting away unless you use Ult but he isn't worth ulting... AHHHHH ban on sight.
Primary Runes
Aftershock is my go to Rune. It makes your engages safer and makes you quite beefy in fights. It is easy to proc and makes your play-style similar to
Fiddlesticks post 6 - whilst you are level 3. There is an argument for Guardian too, but I prefer Aftershock - especially if you are the engage.
Bone Plating Same reason as
Aftershock - this makes you safer. This also gets through a relatively bland lane phase OK as well, especially against double ranged as you are quite close combat. An argument can be made for
Font of Life but the healing is so small it isn't worth it.
Chrysalis A bit of a personal choice here - all 3 have different roles.
Conditioning is for a pure tank build and has a place versus heavy burst comps in my opinion, where you have to try to outtank them to engage.
Second Wind helps if the enemy have a lot of poke in lane. I prefer
Chrysalis as it gives more health for lane but transfers to your Ability Power when you most need it - after you start roaming and getting better!
Overgrowth This is the only Rune that makes sense here.
Revitalize only makes an impact if you go
Font of Life or
Second Wind making it sub optimal, and I personally don't see the need for
Unflinching - you don't benefit from anything it gives you as you don't run at people, you blink in with
Glacial Path.
Overgrowth makes you scale as a tank engage and makes a difference, especially with quite a few items giving health in your item sets.

Iceborn (Passive) COOLDOWN: 18 / 15 / 12 / 9 |
Every several seconds Lissandra's next ability costs no Mana. This cooldown is reduced by 1 second whenever Lissandra impairs an enemy's movement with an ability (does not apply to movement-impairing effects from items). A quite underwhelming passive. At least for mid lane! For support, it actually helps as you don't poke as often or rely on using spells all of the time, so you don't use that much mana in lane. Later on it isn't as noticeable but does mean you can engage even when mana is an issue! |

Ice Shard (Q) RANGE: 725 COST: 75 mana COOLDOWN: 6 / 5.25 / 4.5 / 3.75 / 3 DAMAGE: 70 / 100 / 130 / 160 / 190 (+ 70% AP) SLOW: 16 / 19 / 22 / 25 / 28 % |
Lissandra hurls a spear of ice in a line which deals magic damage to the first enemy it hits and slows them for 1.5 seconds. If the spear damages an enemy, it then shatters, gaining increased range. The main poke portion of your kit, it forms the main lane phase in one ability. It does a surprising amount of damage when you have no Ability Power and the slow, whilst not too noticeable early, does scale decently into the mid game. As it goes through minions, it also provides a counterbalance to other poke champions as the enemy can't block it with minions - they have to use their range instead. The reason we don't level it as much early is because the cooldown reduction is low, the slow is not the best and in harder lanes you can't always land the Q, making it a waste of stats to level it compared to the utility that other abilities give. It does give significant damage and somewhat slow later on though, hence the max first. |
- Feel free to poke as much as needed -
Manaflow Band and
Iceborn mean you can play around with mana more than most!
Ice Shard goes through minions, so use that to your advantage! Pairing with a carry that can do the same such as
Miss Fortune can provide a harass lane!
Ice Shard can hit multiple champions. This can be used to chase in teamfights, or to slow ready for a gank in lane for your jungler.

Ring of Frost (W) EFFECT RADIUS: 450 COST: 50 mana COOLDOWN: 14 / 13 / 12 / 11 / 10 DAMAGE: 70 / 110 / 150 / 190 / 230 (+ 40% AP) ROOT DURATION: 1.1 / 1.2 / 1.3 / 1.4 / 1.5 |
Lissandra freezes all nearby enemies, dealing them magic damage and briefly rooting them. As the game goes on and you need to engage, this is the main part of why ![]() |
Ring of Frost applies to EVERY enemy around you, the more you hit, the better a teamfight will be.
Ring of Frost can stop dashes if the enemy go past you, meaning that some mobile champions can be frozen in their tracks with the press of a button.
Ring of Frost can be a great waveclear tool as the game goes on. Don't be afraid to use it to push if you're the only one defending a turret or pushing a wave out.

Ring of Frost (E) RANGE: 1050 COST: 80 / 85 / 90 / 95 / 100 mana COOLDOWN: 24 / 21 / 18 / 15 / 12 DAMAGE: 70 / 115 / 160 / 205 / 250 (+ 60% AP) SPEED: 850 |
Lissandra casts a claw of ice that moves forward in a line, dealing magic damage to all enemies it passes through. Reactivating Glacial Path consumes the claw and blinks Lissandra to its current location. The main engage tool to get you in (and out) of fights. This is where timing your Level 3 is important in lane - getting this ability all of a sudden can instantly surprise your opponents in lane, meaning that you can make them waste ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
- Do not be afraid of using this ability in fights -
Ring of Frost,
Aftershock and
Bone Plating make you quite tanky in fights even without that many items!
Glacial Path also provides damage when it goes through enemies. If you can, try to hit the enemies with the claw before appearing in order to optimise the damage.
- At 40% Cooldown Reduction late game, the ability has a 7.2 second cooldown. For long fights, this provides you with the best re-engage, or even disengage if you realise a fight isn't going your way for any reason. Always make sure you have a backup plan when going in!

Ring of Frost (R) RANGE: 550 EFFECT RADIUS: 550 COST: 100 mana COOLDOWN: 120 / 100 / 80 MIN SELF HEAL: 100 / 150 / 200 (+ 30% AP) DAMAGE: 150 / 250 / 350 (+ 70% AP) SLOW: 30 / 45 / 75 % |
ENEMY CAST: After a 0.5-second delay, Lissandra freezes the target enemy champion, Stun icon stunning the target for 1.5 seconds. SELF CAST: Lissandra instantly entombs herself, placing herself in Stasis icon stasis for 2.5 seconds while healing herself over the duration, with the heal increased by 0% − 100% (based on missing health). Upon cast, after a 0.5-second delay, Black Ice spreads from Frozen Tomb's target and lasts for 3 seconds, dealing magic damage to all enemies in the area as it expands, and Slow icon slowing them while they remain within. As many have probably realised, ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
- This ability activates
Aftershock so be careful when casting it on an enemy as you do lose tankiness if you decide to engage with
Ring of Frost afterwards!
Quicksilver Sash removes the lockdown effect - it is better to try to bait it out of the enemy by using
Ring of Frost before this ability.
Frozen Tomb provides a safety blanket if you do a bad engage - especially when you have a high amount of Cooldown Reduction for your
Glacial Path.
- The self heal is affected by
Redemption,
Mikael's Blessing and
Ardent Censer, and mixed with
Font of Life you could easily apply a teamwide buff in a crucial fight. This is more of a meme build however.
- There is a slight delay between a frozen enemy and then the damage on the rest of the team. Take this into account when using it as it could change who you want to ult in fights.
