Rare but it is one of the few things that is able to completely bend you over a barrel and show you why you should fear the shadows. Don't pick Graves into him, ever. He is the one match-up that simply cannot be won if it is even slightly close to even.
Perfectly designed to fuck over kiting champs. She has: an AOE shield and MS buff, an AOE nuke that slows and a chain based point and click root. Avoid this champ.
Ooga, early game she is 100% able to obliterate you. She outscales you and eats your heart out. Never play into her if you're not smurfing.
Just run. Just hide. You are gonna have to play safe and scale while wishing you picked Vayne or Jinx. Once you do reach 3 items he gets absolutely molested, so if you can deal with 15-25 minutes of aids, then you can have some fat freelo.
Disgusting, and has been for years. An artillery mage enchantress, a bad macro abuser is easy to execute but if they have half a brain cell they should never be autoed by you for the entire game.
He can just build Muramana and Lethality and kill you with his fucking rail-gun from the comfort of his pentakill-house suite while you act as the Hotel's bellhop on the ground floor.
Unbelievably abusive against Graves, almost as if he were designed to send him 6 ft. under. A good Bard will obliterate you, a bad Bard will give you a free win (As always).
Not terrible if you're able to effectively avoid his damage but he is far to dangerous to risk playing into without a Hexdrinker, don't bother.
Disgusting to lane against, with a decent counterpick on support this becomes piss easy. But he makes the lane phase one hell of a chore.
She's extremely dangerous in the lane phase but a decent support can out trade her early on and keep you alive long enough to scale.
Fairly rough in the early-to-mid game but levels off late. He is basically doing what this build does but faster and from farther away, at the disadvantage of being squishier.
Fish Bitch got rude moves to abuse you and your sub-par fake ADC self.
Fairly terrifying if she knows what she's doing, eliminates most of your options for duelling and trading by looming over your frail Graves body with her mighty cc chain.
Very much a one fuck up loses the game kind of champion. She fucks up and you get a kill, awesome. You fuck up and she gets a kill, fuck. Simple to understand and annoying to deal with. Nigh impossible to reliably come back vs her without massively delaying the rest of your power-spikes. Still possible though.
Graves plays like Draven in the early game but it leans slightly in Draven's favour. Hope you can abuse the rarity of the match-up and catch him off-guard but know an even match-up will always lean in his favour here.
Just a better champ. If you're a better player you can kill her easily but that's like saying a good teemo is better than a bad teemo. It's fucking obvious. Try and avoid letting her scale if she has a strong teamfight comp, and skirmish as much as possible to draw her out of lane.
Not too much that can be done against Alistar, his combo is confirmed as long as he is within your auto range.
Pretty annoying in both APC and Support roles as her poke and burst come out far more safely than yours. Catch her against a wall and she explodes though.
Fairly tough to deal with but I've found success where I thought none could be, still investigating this one. He does have a powerful tool to counter your under tower executions.
Depends on the Twitch, but generally they will be one of 4 or so champs that outscale you in the bot lane. You can eliminate his level 6 or at least force his flash with your Smokescreen but don't count on it.
Pretty hard to lane against but you do decimate her in the scaling match-up. Really depends on comp, but it does lean slightly in her favour.
Massively dependant on the Vayne player, sure it is mostly a skill match-up. But Vayne is filthy so as players get more experienced you are less likely to be playing an even match-up. Anywhere outside of Diamond will be where you start eating dirt against most Vaynes. Otherwise enjoy another champ with Riven and Yasuo syndrome.
If you're able to catch him off-guard he melts. But a decent Ezreal will never let you into auto range during lane, just farm it out and look for skirmishes and dives.
Even for the most part as long as you're able to deal with her poke, usually a match-up decided by the support.
Very much player-to-player, she is easy to abuse so long as you kite around double brush and use the threat of insta Q procs on walls to dissuade short trades with her rockets.
It really is awkward fighting this, but once you get it in your head that you can't at all touch the ADC, just blind the ADC and one-shot Soraka when she steps up.
Fairly basic as supports go, if you're good enough to dodge the root then you're able to dominate their ADC without much resistance. If you get rooted then call your mother and tell her you're going to miss her while they spend a lovely 3 hour picnic killing you to the tune of "Yesterday" by the Beatles.
Little hell hound. Mostly useless unless she's paired with Kai'Sa/Vayne/Twitch/Kog'Maw, in which case be very fucking scared.

If she knows what she's doing she will delete you with level 2/3. If she's dumb then you outscale her so hard she'll be calling you a Hong Kong Pangolin collection.
Really depends on you, if you can abuse the walls to pull off massive burst then she can't trade into you. If you play safe (Because of a rough support match-up) then she has easy pickings on how much health she wants from you at a time.
Very much ADC specific, you can blind her while she's attached so abuse that to trip up their trades and confuse them. A strong ADC becomes much stronger with her and a losing match-up loses slightly less.
Very much a player-by-player based match-up, depends entirely on your ability to dodge his hooks and kite around him in melee range.
Not terribly hard to deal with, and Graves is one of only a handful of champs that has a decent enough match-up into Rakan. With a Xayah you should probably still just drown yourself in a bucket of salt, but he is otherwise a comfortable change from constant aggression.
Fairly simple match-up that is only ever difficult with certain supports. You outscale him harder with cheaper items and all he can do is run away and try to out-poke your Fleet sustain.
Really nothing too dangerous here, her slows come at the disadvantage of putting her in combo range and her knock-up should never hit you.
Somewhat rough to deal with but you have enough tools at your disposal to fuck with her spell shield during your combo and catch her off-guard. You outscale past one item so she can only really goon squad with ult and her team.
Surprisingly enough Graves is able to easily kite around a Pyke while remaining healthy. A bad fight will turn the game sour against a Pyke (As always).
Basically just some free gold, not able to combo Graves well at all and his kiting is mostly cancelled out by this build.
Surprisingly easy-going, not much he can do without risking a horrid trade. He is like a buff boyfriend in a gay couple. He might look dangerous and scare people away, but he has never and will never directly come after you, unless he wants to fucking die.
As annoying as he is to play against, you make him fairly useless. He can't properly abuse you without eating a full combo. The Singed law applies here. He steps up to chase? Then he fucking dies. He stays away? Then he better hope his ADC scales harder (Hint... they probably don't).
It depends, you abuse him early-mid but if he scales you're likely fucked if they have an enchantress. His late game without shields is terrible and he is extremely easy to kite, just a shit Twitch.
Yeah, he just gets destroyed. you outscale him and beat him early. If he's so much better than you that you lose this then you deserved to lose against him. Obviously.
Hard to come by this match-up but Graves can out kite her by slowing her (Stormrazor plus Fleet) and abusing his Nearsight to cancel out her mobility. Need more experience to properly judge, easy in theory mostly and the champ is just straight dogshit in solo queue.
Champion Build Guide
The basic idea behind this build came about when I thought about how much kiting power you could give Graves without focusing on CDR and E. The idea being that we abuse the synergy available in his rune and item options.
It's likely not perfect, and definitely can have mana problems depending on playstyle, but I've reached a point where I feel the build is adequate enough to lay the groundworks for other player's builds.
The obvious now, just like to get it down in writing so that everyone can understand it more clearly.
Fleet Footwork is buffed by Celerity and Alacrity (Although Alacrity of a less noticeable buff) as the MS buff is increased by Celerity and Alacrity allows you to attack more and lower your E cooldown more (Both the attacks and dashes will charge Energised).
Fleet Footwork is buff further by Stormrazor which increases the MS buff and the healing from the rune, while giving you a decent chunk of on-hit damage. This is useful for last hitting a caster behind melee minions as the on-hit will always damage the target of your auto even if your pellets don't hit them, it also applies its slow this way meaning that your pellets don't necessarily need to hit your target to slow them. This is extremely useful for catching out people that can dash away from your autos as you still gain the MS buffs and apply the slow.
This is all wrapped up in a neat little package by the addition of Rapid Firecannon. The range buff it gives is increase by Stormrazor as well as the damage it deals, which overrides the Stormrazor on-hit as it deals 60-140 damage rather than a flat 50. This is a decent power-spike as it lets you poke more reliably and chase people down easier.
The other items listed are situational but all add to your ability to kite in one way or another:
Black Cleaver on dealing physical damage, increased on kills.
Phantom Dancer on damaging enemy champs, as well as ghosting you (Useful on Graves to catch out someone trying to abuse your autos with a minion wave)
Blade of the Ruined King with a point and click active that steals MS, very useful into Kayle/Gnar and similar champs.
Mercurial Scimitar through an active that cleanses all crowd control debuffs from you while giving a short burst of MS.
Those are the basics of it.
I recommend buying a corrupting pot if you personally have trouble sustaining mana on Graves, though I prefer to start either of the Doran's items.
Not much to be said about the nuances of laning. Baiting them in with low health minions and denying them minions entirely with your W is fun, but it is mana heavy. Only do it for cannons, or if you're really ahead. Or just to piss them off I guess.
You want to play safe for the most part, only play aggressively if you have a support that complements it. Otherwise, just farm safely until you hit your items and begin to hard scale. Crit Graves is disgusting at 45-100% crit chance so if you have to choice between a pickaxe and a crit cloak after Rapid Firecannon, buy the crit cloak.
If you want to know why it's so important then lemme run you down. When Graves crits, he fires an extra pair of pellets and increases the fan in which he shoots. Graves' E happens to have its cooldown lowered by 0.5 seconds for each pellet that hits an enemy, ergo it lets us use E more and that lets us stack Energised more which gives us more Fleet procs and Stormrazor slows and Rapid Firecannon autos. Which all adds together to give us a perfect storm of kiting. Simple concept with a lot of nuance and fun to it.
