Hi everyone! My name is SuPIeX and I am a casual player who peaked at G2. Garen is one of my most played champions and he has a lot of potential to take the game into his hands and push his weight around the map. In this guide, I will show you an unorthodox method of playing Garen that maximizes his usefulness and has the added benefit of making him nearly unkillable in lane!

I've been playing Garen for a long time and I've tried all different kinds of playstyles. I am a big fan of Grasp of the Undying, but I've always found that I was vulnerable to ganks early on and was easily kited late game. Using phase rush will leave you a little less tanky, but will give you incredible utility to allow you to chase down and kill a carry late game and easily survive ganks!

During laning phase, your goal is to dominate your opponent and repeatedly send them back to base via either recall or death. Keep taking tower plates and hopefully get first tower for a huge gold advantage that will snowball you into a monster!

You can trade early on by using your Q and mitigating their attacks with W. Try to W their most significant burst of damage or CC. I recommend maxing E against favorable matchups and Q in more difficult matchups. When maxing E, you will use Q to engage and bami's cinder + E to proc phase rush which will let you stick onto them for the whole 3 seconds of your E. When maxing Q, you will do the same thing, but your damage will come mostly from Q, and you will use your E only to proc phase rush and disengage from the trade.

Garen is a very simple champion, and it's objective decision-making, rather than mechanical skill, that will allow you to carry games. You should always try to dominate your lane opponent and get tower plates + first tower for a significant gold lead. When Dragon is up, recall and help your team secure the buff. Aside from that, focus on your own game. I generally stay top until I've taken the inner turret. While I'm taking the 2nd tower, if I'm being ignored I'll push up and work on the inhib tower, but otherwise I will rotate bot and start working on those towers. You will be very difficult to deal with because you can easily disengage with Phase Rush if they try to send the goon squad.

Try to position yourself for easy access to the enemy backline. Dive onto the enemy carry and use phase rush to stick onto them and burst them down. If you're taking a lot of heat you can use the rest of your speed to disengage and heal up with passive + warmogs before joining back in to clean up. If the enemy team is extremely hard to reach, buy righteous glory for a guaranteed engage.

Phase Rush Garen sacrifices a little bit of in combat stats in exchange for a significant boost to his survivability in lane as well as his usefulness in late game fights. I hope you learned something from this guide and good luck on the rift!
