Introduction

Hi, my names Lemon and welcome to my Malphite guide. In this guide i will be explaining how to play Malphite Mid and the advantages of doing so.

Malphite is a very underrated mid champ and although a lot of people may disagree with me i think he's one of the best and i'd love you to try it for yourself before down voting :)

Feel free to just use the build if you do not want to read on about how to play him.

Pros/Cons

Pros

+Granite Shield makes him resistant to harass.
+Deals a lot of physical and magic damage without any offensive items.
+Super fast speed due to Seismic Shard.
+Brutal Strikes and Ground Slam make him a powerful pusher.
+Arguably one of the tankiest champions in the game.
+2 CCs and an AS debuff.
+Hard-counters autoattackers.
+Can tank towers, without using health due to Granite Shield
+Unstoppable Force is one of the best initiating spells in the game.
+Quick escape method due to Unstoppable Force

Cons

-Usually can't afford to build much DPS.
-CC is weak without his ultimate.
-Mixed magical and physical damage makes him hard to rune for.
-Much weaker against AP-heavy teams and is easily counterpicked.

Masteries

9/21/0

This setup, combined with your magic penetration runes gives enough AP damage and gives you a ton of defensive stats to harass and build towards a tanky late game role. Granite Shield will also benefit from these masteries making you an unstoppable force of nature.

Runes

Greater Mark of Magic Penetration : These runes will give your Ground Slam and Seismic Shard an astounding punch even early game allowing for early harass.

Greater Seal of Armor : May not help early game when playing against an AP mid but will help late game when up against AD Carries such as Draven.

Greater Glyth of Scaling Magic Resist : The Magic Resistance late game from these will let you tank AoE and tank AP Carries.

Greater Quintessence of Movement Speed : Movement speed allows Malphite to effectively use Seismic Shard, catch up to and enemy and continue to attack them with your Ground Slam and also goes hand in hand with Seismic Shard to escape from danger.

Summoner Spells

Ignite Allows you to have the most kill potential. Adding 150 true damage on top of your burst combo makes Malphite a force to be reckoned with early game.

Flash In the laning phase, Flash is necessary to avoiding tight spots such as jungler ganks or can even be used to initiate with Unstoppable Force if the target is out of range.
