Introduction.

Hello! My name is Mark and I've been playing League since s6. I purchased Kassadin when I saw my friend playig him, because I thought he was really cool and fun. Now, I decided I wanted to help all fellow summoners who want to play Kassadin. Here's a guide, from me to you.

Pros/Cons of Kassadin.

Pros.
1.Insanely powerful late game.
2.Insane mana sustain with your W .
3.High mobility with your R .
4.High sustain vs AP mages because of your Q
5.Good chase because of your E slow.
6.Great at side lane roaming.
7. Is a cool dude who has a magic blade.

Cons.
1.Melee AP assassin, easy to get poked.
2.Vulnerable to ganks until lvl.6
3.You are mana hungry. You need items to use abilities without wasting all your mana.

Runes. Precision offers more than sorcery as primary tree.


Fleet Footwork. This keystone is great on Kassadin, for several reasons.
1. First of all, it scales way better into mid and late game, whereas comet and aery become utterly useless after laning phase.
2. Kitting. Fleet Footwork is a great keystone for the laning phase. It synergizes perfectly with his passive, which allows him to ignore unit collision. Using the extra MS with the passive, it gives you great chase and kite potential.
3. It gives you a bit more sustain during laning phase.

A great rune for Kassadin, even after its rework. Now, everytime you get an assist or a kill it restores 20% of your maximum mana and 10% of your utimate's CD. It's great because you can jump in, kill an easy target and jump out quick even with a 4x stacked ult.

This is the best rune from the 3rd row. Its viable because lifesteal and attack speed is useless on kassadin, but tenacity is great since you want to jump in and out with out getting perma CCed.

A must have for all champions that use precision. The extra dmg on low HP enemies is just too sweet not to have.

A must have on Kassadin, because it greatly reduces your ultimate's cooldown.

The 10% CDR is so good, plus the extra AP you get from excess CDR is just too good not to have.

Skill sequence.

You want to max Q first because of the extra dmg and poke you get from it as well as the magic shield.
Max E second. I used to max W but then I saw what crazy dmg Kassadin deals with E. Once you max it its base DMG and AP multiplier become huge.
Max W third. By 1 point, W restores 20% of your max mana. Thats already a big number, meaning that you can max it last with no issues.
Max R whenever you can.

Itemization on Kassadin.

All items are in buy order:
A great first item for Kassadin. It helps him out alot with his mana problems and gives him alot of AP once fully stacked. I buy this item first.
A really good item because you can stack it fast if you get an early tear and also by spamming your ult. Also, the mana regen and increase you get as well as the mana shield are all really good! I buy this item second.
This item is really strong on Kassadin because it works perfectly with your W, dishing out a ton of dmg. I buy this item third.
Zhonya's is a must buy on Kassadin. The extra armor, CDR, AP and the great active are some great stats to have. I buy this item fourth.
The passive is really strong against tanks with MR and also gives alot of AP. Its a great item for Kassadin.
If you are fed, you need to get Deathcap. It gives you tons of AP. Combined with void staff, this item makes you a tank destroyer.
The best boots for Kassadin, they gives you alot of CDR for spells, actives and abilities.
(The CDR also scales with .) Pretty much a must buy every game.
Buy this if the enemy team has really strong CC and some AP dmg. It helps you escape from many bad situations.
I wouldnt really reccomend buying this item except if the enemy has got an insane MR stacking tank that you cant kill even with void staff.

Situational items on Kassadin.

I know, this isnt the best item on Kassadin. But, give it a shot. If you buy this last item it makes you a mana beast, no longer needing mana. The mana regeneration is insane, also, you get more AP per 25% mana regen you have. If you buy a normal build with and and then buy Athene's, you get 20 more AP. Also, you get alot of AP from your runes, meaning that buying Athene's isnt really a drawback.
If the enemy ADC or assassin is really fed, you need this item. It gives 10% CDR with works with your rune. Also, it gives you the sheen effect, making the W with lichbane even stronger and each time you use its passive you freeze the ground slowing enemies in it. Plus, the armor and mana you get are really nice too, making you even tankier and giving you more dive potential.

Early game with Kassadin.

Laning phase can be really easy or really hard depending on the matchup. If for example you are matched against an Akali or a Veigar laning phase will be easy. But if you are matched against a Talon or a Zed, laning phase os really difficult.
Now. If the laning phase is easy, you need to shove the minion waves and go roam. Try to get as many kills and assists as possible early.
If laning phase is difficult, let the enemy push towards you. Only last hit minions, dont actively auto attack. Also, do not let the enemy roam. Try and block them, warn other lanes and deal damage to them.
DO NOT LET THEM ROAM to the side lanes.
All you need to do is survive early game and try to snowball, to enter mid game smoothly.

Mid game with Kassadin.

Around 2 items, Kassadin hits a huge powerspike. If you have gotten some early kills, mid game is where you shine. Start using your [icon=riftwalk size= 16) to farm. In teamfights, prioritize the low HP targets and try to kill them. Also, try to push all waves and keep them that way. In addition, try to splitpush. Get as much gold as you can, because you want to enter late game fast.

Late game with Kassadin.

Omce you get full build Kassadin becomes a monstrous assassin. The huge mana pool and AP from your items allows you to burst squishy targets down really fast. Full build is the last and biggest spike for Kassadin. Use it effectively.

Summoner spells.


A must have spell. It can save you from dying to early ganks, chase kills before lvl.6 and escape when the ult isnt enough.


A good spell if you want to get an early lane lead. Becomes useless late game though.


I always use this spell on Kassadin. Allows you to get everywhere faster. If your team is fighting or is doing an important objective, you can go there and assist fast. A must have spell. In my opinion, Its alot better than ignite, because you can do so much more with it.


A good spell, but not useful for Kassadin. His ult allows you to dodge most CC.


Fine choice against assassins, but you dont really need it.


Never take this on Kassadin.

Teamfights & your role in them.

In teamfights, you should never go frontline. Stay on the back of your team or try to flank the enemy team. Once you see an easy target, ult in and go all-out on your target. (NEVER target a tank. Target the squishy assasin or ADC). While fighting on the baron pit or the dragon's lair, ult behind the wall and wait for your CD if you need to. Also, stack your ult for more dmg. Then, go back in and deal as much damage as you can. In teamfights you are tasked with shutting down any squishy support or an ADC
hiding behind the tanks. If you do this well, you are already becoming a better Kassadin.
